yes, employers that under pay employees add to the welfare roles as well as automation, foreign outsourcing and foreign imports corporatism is destroying this nation welfare is the cost to society of cheap labor
BUBBLES BURST Well, finally! Something about which we can agree! What we do in our choice-of-lifestyles is personal. But, yes, as you underscore, it is personal-revenue that has the most effect upon our choices. But, I maintain, not everybody needs a jet to fly to Florida on winter weekends when the snow blocks northern streets! But, that's why Donald Dork has "two jets"! (Three if you count the presidential-jet at his disposal.) At present, the US has undergone a very high rate of residential-value growth. Every time I have seen this happen in the American economy, we tend to rue the day. In our economy, it is soooo much more easy to move around, that people buy and sell housing far more easily than elsewhere. Which is why, when houses become too-expensive, sell-offs are prompted. This bubble has to burst: N'est-ce pas .. ?
Interesting words but you give no proof whatsoever of what you say. Definition: Debate is a process that involves formal discussion on a particular topic. In a debate, opposing arguments are put forward with formal evidence for opposing viewpoints. It is a formal type of discussion, often with a moderator and an audience, in addition to the debate participants.
LafayetteBis, a big problem you have is staying on a single topic in a thread. It almost seems like you go on a long rant sometimes. What I do is I have more than one thread, and just provide a link if readers want to read up on a different but related topic. Then I might provide a very short explanation about the topic in the link, so readers can get a better idea whether they want to go there and read about it. Or they are able to get a very quick summary without having to click the link.
First, with population growth and all of it's ills, society needs to push more living and commerce into rural areas. This requires roads and airports and hospitals and commerce, etc. And second, the current populated areas need infrastructure for average people to live and work. IMO only society and solid planning can assist average workers in having a more productive and satisfying life...this cannot be achieved by manipulating wages...
Apple Inc. for example cannot locate one of their major factories in a remote rural area. They have little choice but to locate them in major employment and commerce centers. All of which are the highest populated areas. High population and a strong economy dictates inflation which pushes out average income earners. Increased population causes all sorts of problems, short and long term, and none of them can be mitigated by manipulating wages. I think everyone will benefit if society can move more growth away from current population/commerce centers, all of those mentioned in your graph...
wow, did you just learn wate the definition of "debate" was, thanks for sharing your new knowledge with us - lol here is an example from walmart "Wal-Mart Memo Suggests Ways to Cut Employee Benefit Costs " 2005 http://www.nytimes.com/2005/10/26/business/26walmart.ready.html?pagewanted=all "Wal-Mart executives said the memo was part of an effort to rein in benefit costs, which to Wall Street's dismay have soared by 15 percent a year on average since 2002. Like much of corporate America, Wal-Mart has been squeezed by soaring health costs. The proposed plan, if approved, would save the company more than $1 billion a year by 2011." "Ms. Chambers acknowledged that 46 percent of the children of Wal-Mart's 1.33 million United States employees were uninsured or on Medicaid."
And so governments should tell people where to live? People came off the land in the late 1800s, and they moved into large cities surrounded by the factories of the early Industrial Age. That has come to an end, and most of low-wage labor of the age has long since moved to the Orient. In an economy functioning almost thoroughly on Services, people can live almost anywhere. There is no reel need to go into a factory - except to take goods that have arrived from China, put them in a box and ship them out by means of a delivery service. That too, btw, is a Service Industry in a country where only 12% of the population actually MAKE products ... !
HISTORY LESSON And with the above, now you have a tiny, tiny notion of why the Communists overthrew the Russian crown and inevitably killed them all. Some People take, and take it, and take - and then the rest explode. We don't want that happening in the US. It is very, very ugly and the Watts Riots of 1992 (with 63 deaths) is only a tiny, tiny example of what can happen when people explode in anger on a larger scale in the US. So, let's not forget a history lesson ... !
No, but you just did! And evidently it did not sink in ... PS: You might even try reading your comments before sending them with spelling errors.
and that is still all you have, you lost the debate.. lol, move on or come up with something to support your side of it I am a bad speller and make typo's, so does our President whom you support... so what.. guess that makes me Presidential in your eyes...
Yes...governments tell people where to live! It's government's job to zone property use. It's government's job to mitigate all the ills of over-populated urban centers. It's government's job to create infrastructure such as roads, bridges, airports, water and electric utilities, schools, etc. And today those urban centers are not working for most Americans.
