Ah, so no source. Few issues with laws setting precedent; please identify how congress passed UOCAVA, title VII, the Voting Rights act Also, Article 1 Section 4 of the Constitution deals expressly with the Legislative branch — not the executive, have another passage? Furthermore, since we are using your interpretation of the constitution only — I will argue that certain states unfairly burden voters, especially in densely populated areas not having sufficient polling locations; placing them in violation of the 14th amendment which very unambiguously grants Congress the authority to enforce equal protection (and the other terms of the Amendment) via legislation. This is the actual passage in which it does so: “The Congress shall have power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.”
Please show in the constitution why the two are handled differently. It was a federal requirement pushed to the states as to the method of voting.
The article is nearly a year old, but she has already been busy investigating Trump's businesses. But these were all pre-coronavirus. Once this is over and Trump is out of the White House, Letitia James will pick up where she left off. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news...orney-general-leads-barrage-of-investigations 'Since taking office at the beginning of the year, she has toned down the rhetoric but she has let subpoenas do the talking instead – pursuing a barrage of investigations and emerging as a major thorn in the side of Trump and his political allies and notching up successes where even Congress has been blocked.' More recently, Feb. 2020 https://westfaironline.com/121266/ag-james-sues-trump-administration-over-trusted-traveler-ban/ AG Letitia James sues Trump administration over Trusted Traveler ban New York Attorney General Letitia James has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration’s new policy that prevents New Yorkers from enrolling or re-enrolling in the federal government’s Trusted Traveler security programs, including Global Entry.
Investigations of what, what did she leave off? What crimes? Why weren't these investigated by her before he was elected President?
I can't explain it any clearer, the Federal government has a role an facilitating absentee military voting and through embassies for citizens in foreign countries, they do not run state elections as others have also cited from the Constitution.
The statement of fact has been that there are indictments awaiting Trump when he leaves office. Apparently there are no facts to back that up. That's an equal access protection issue not what form the state will use for the election.
Former State AG Eric Schneiderman had thousands of man hours of evidence against #orangeblob and his organization before he ran for president and paused moving forward because of the presidency. Current State AG Tish James has all that evidence, and more, and will certainly reopen the case at the end of the presidency.
Again, the item that will be pushed will be to make it optional — it isn’t forcing what form states must used. Also noticed you ignore the vast majority of the points, your narrative must be falling apart.
The only thing that has been cited from the constitution was in regards to the legislative branch elections. Why are you ignoring Title VII and the VRA? And 14th Amendment protections?
The Constitution CLEARLY says that the electors for the state will be chosen in a manner established by the state legislature and there is no requirement that it include your vote.
I am acknowledging both the Constitution as well as precedent set by previous laws. I have direct quoted the relevant parts in the constitution as well as the laws in question and your response thus far has been to regurgitate the same tired remarks with zero sources outside of how you feel about it.
I have addressed your what you posted and you ignore it. And bottom line the minute Pelosi tries to pass a law telling states how they will conduct their elections it will go straight to court and the Constitution will be upheld they control their elections there are no federal elections.
Wtf are you talking about? We are not discussing electors (but it is good to know you support states joining the NPVIC) we are discussing mail in ballots. Feel free to post a relevant source outside of your opinion on the matter or we can just accept your concession and move on. This is growing boring — maybe that is your debate strategy
You ignore that congress has told states how they will conduct their elections within three separate occasions. Not to mention the fourteenth amendment implications. What part of the constitution specifically bars congress from mandating states implementing programs to accept secure mail in ballots? People voting seems to terrify you. Why is that?
So let’s say I go to the cemetery and copy down the names of all the people who died that year and finding their address through publicly available information such as obituaries. What stops me from mailing in votes on their behalf for the candidate of my choice?
One there are local, state, and federal databases that track this type of information. I worked as a fraud analyst for a major lending institution and the amount of information that we could see is insane. Reported death was one of these things and it was updated in real time. This was 12 years ago. If private companies have access to this information the government definitely does. Find the person that committed the fraud and throw their ass in jail. Vote at home has shown to increase voter turnout, increase educated choices as people have the time to research the people that are in front of them, and I have not seen a single study that shows it is more prone to fraud than voting in person especially with a few security measures. Make the form as secure as possible; must have a valid dl number, address must be current, issue PINs out to every voter, institute a National Voter ID system, provide each voter with a tracking code that they can make sure their vote is counted, allow for ranked choice or IR. We should be looking at ways to improve the nation instead of just digging our feet in and saying everything is impossible. We are the wealthiest nation on earth but yet we seem to be able to accomplish anything. We use to be a world leader and innovator now we are stagnant.
If the voter rolls aren’t purged the state election boards don’t know that the individual is dead as THAT is what they use to determine whether or not an individual is still able to vote. They use no other system to determine such. I’ve worked at a state election board. The ONLY database they use (unless they have a reason to suspect fraud) to determine whether someone can vote or not are the voter rolls. So in these states where the democrats are fighting tooth and nail to stop them from purging the voter rolls of dead people such as this https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...-than-200000-people-swing-states-voter-rolls/ How do you expect to catch me? And even if not, how exactly are you going to find me when I dropped all of my mail into five or six of those blue dropoff boxes?
But the democrats won’t allow things like valid DL’s or current addresses because they claim it disenfranchises black people and the homeless. Get serious. At least acknowledge what the ACTUAL problem here is instead of dreaming up some BS fantasyland in your head.
Along with loads of proof of Russian collusion. Video of Trump peeing on women. Sexual assault. Years of tax fraud. Theft. Racism. Antisemitism. What did I miss? /derp. Maybe you’ll get him next time. Keep searching.
Enough of this woman. We don't need a bill to help Democrats commit mail fraud. Wear PPE if you want to go vote, or cast your vote early. There's ample time to do so. I simply do not believe that Democrats are so incompetent that they are incapable of casting a vote in two month period. https://nypost.com/2017/07/14/the-vote-fraud-that-democrats-refuse-to-see/
A state can't discriminate based on race or gender. Where does the Constitution say the federal government will dictate to the states the manner in which they will conduct THEIR elections it's already been pointed out several times where it says the states shall.
