No actually it’s not. YOURS is way off. The death rate is the number of dead divided by the number of infected. But you and your ilk aren’t using the number of infected. You’re using the number of DIAGNOSED infected. You’re ignoring ALL of the people who contracted the virus but whose symptoms were not enough that they had to go to the doctor along with ignoring the people who get it but are asymptomatic.

When these two groups are added the infected rate is possibly 50-85x higher than what we are being told the infected rate is. Which means the ACTUAL death rate is ORDERS of magnitude lower than what they’re declaring.

    https://www.mercurynews.com/coronav...-county-residents-infected-stanford-estimates

You’re being lied to by the media and you’re swallowing it hook, line and sinker.

YOU are using a fantasy number and claiming it is some scientific fact.

    It's not

All we know for FACT is that this thing is deadly. You say we don't know the true number of infected...we also don't know the true number of deaths.

Any discussion of death rate is flawed until we can test a hell of a lot more.

That’s simply inaccurate. You don’t need to test everyone to get a sampling for an accurate death rate. You only need to test randomized populations. And when they do that, they come up with an absurdly low death rate that in NO way, shape or form justifies a lockdown of ANY magnitude, much less the entire country.

How do you think they get the death rate for the flu? They ESTIMATE how many people got it but didn’t get diagnosed. If they did what you’re doing with COVID the flu would have a death rate that was much higher.

It is NOT inaccurate but random testing IS what is required.

Not to play games with death rates.

We already know the thing is deadly

Random testing will tell us what the virus is doing and where it is. We are a LONG way from testing even THAT much

That’s not true either. More than enough testing has been done to determine a more accurate death rate.

But assuming that were true, you still have to admit that the death rate is lower than we are being told. While the deaths are relatively accurate, the cases which haven’t gotten diagnosed still have to be counted which will reduce the death rate.

It’s simply not that bad. The dems are trying to turn this into massive hysteria in hope a Trump loses the election because they know that’s the only shot they have.

Is it "not that bad" because of all the social distancing?

How are the Dems turning this into massive hysteria? I believe even Repub led states are also not fully back to work and practicing social distancing. In fact, TX, where my brother lives, has state troopers manning checkpoints and also put into law two week quarantines for anyone traveling back into TX from a number of different states.

No it’s not that bad because the disease is not that deadly. Take for example the ship where essentially everyone on board got it when they were tested but they only had a .05% death rate.

    You’re being fleeced.

Of course it's been said over and over that it can be deadly for those with underlying health conditions. Nowhere has it been said it is deadly for EVERYONE.
And how exactly am I being "fleeced'?

You’re being fleeced by having your rights eroded under the guise of security. And you’re fine with it apparently.

He who is willing to sacrifice freedom for security will receive none and deserves neither.

How could you possibly make that determination when you don't even know me. You realize any "rights eroded under the guise of security" are the same ones for you, right? So I guess you're being fleeced too. The difference between us is that I would never assume you to be fine or not fine with it...you know...since I don't actually know you.
FYI...I'm still working and have been working this entire "lock down" as I am in an essential industry.

It does not provide zero protection. The reason the government (Trump's people) told us they were not effective is because we didn't have enough for everyone. At the beginning of the virus, when it was mainly in China, we sent them millions of face masks. We ended up not having what we needed, so our government told us they weren't useful. Now they say we all should be wearing them. They protect you from other people and protect other people from you. Many people are asymptomatic.

After you unpack your groceries, sanitize or wash what you can. Then wash your own hands and surfaces thoroughly.
