We can only observe 3 of them The 4th one we can only conception by knowing the time and place The other dimensions exist but for some odd reason are super tiny and we can’t detect them Turns out intelligent life can only exist in 3 dimensions according to the experts . This is what I read
If you include spacetime, technically life exists in all the dimensions simultaneously. And, of other dimension hypothesized by string theory, life would simultaneously occupy those dimensions as well. As for a lay explanation,
I know that analogy has been used by string theorist, Brian Green, and even Neil Tyson, but I find it a poor one because ants can perceive in 3D and even navigate in 3D. A better example of a 2D world could be found in the book, Dragon's Egg, a 1980 hard science fiction novel by Robert L. Forward who describes life existing on a neutron star. “In the story, Dragon's Egg is a neutron star with a surface gravity 67 billion times that of Earth, and inhabited by cheela, intelligent creatures the size of a sesame seed who live, think and develop a million times faster than humans. Most of the novel, from May to June 2050, chronicles the cheela civilization beginning with its discovery of agriculture to advanced technology and its first face-to-face contact with humans, who are observing the hyper-rapid evolution of the cheela civilization from orbit around Dragon's Egg.” https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon's_Egg It was an interesting read back in the day.
The radiation on a N.Star would kill anything Maybe think of it as Fish in a pond who have zero clue about the world above the pond
Regard in the Neutron Star’s radiation, that would seem intuitive as would the crushing force of the gravity, but if forms of life evolved on the Star’s surface, they certainly wouldn’t resemble anything we would recognize. We have found life, carbon based, on this planet in places we wouldn’t expect it to survive, feeding on chemical substances. Alien life might not be carbon based. Then too there are organisms that seem to have high tolerance of radiation levels that kill everything else. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermococcus_gammatolerans I reserve judgement, in my lifetime, it seems we have encountered many things that are stranger than our imaginations. I was always fascinated by creatures we have brought up from the ocean depths that seem extremely fragile, yet live in pressure conditions that crush anything living on the surface of our planet. Regardless, some of the Authors description of life on the Neutron Star May have attempted to resolve the issues... I don’t recall. What I remember, which I think was his purpose, was envisioning a 2D world encountering 3D beings. It’s been years since reading the book, would I be more critical by reading it again? Doubtful, since like so much science fiction it is nearly impossible to write without anthropomorphizing alien morphology, technology, culture and psychology, and I tend to fixate on the improbable... like seeing Star Wars and hearing the sounds of weapons and explosions in the vacuum of space.
Lisa Randall explores some ideas about life in other dimensions, IIRC. I was poking around and trying to find it but not sure where I saw it. It may be in her book, Warped Passages
If you include spacetime, technically life exists in all the dimensions simultaneously. And, of other dimension hypothesized by string theory, life would simultaneously occupy those dimensions as well. As for a lay explanation, And, if you notice this other space time simultaneous dimension, the surroundings might look slightly different. And the life may have a long narrow forked tongue, and be over 7 ft. tall.
The fish that can spit at a target insect on overhanging vegetation and knock it down for consumption is apparently not so clueless. But that's not in vast open water where the fish might as well be largely clueless.
I have worked in 3 dimensions all my life. I have many times cut things to fit. Would that affect other dimensions? I mean, it would be in the fourth because it would go from seed to tree to lumber to finished piece.... or scrap .... or both.
Lepomis macrochirus, he fish I raise takes insects from the top of the water. Now they do come after me when I approach the pond. But that could be a conditioned response.
LOL. That's funny. Thanks. Okay then. Don't ask me. However, here is what I and a lot of other people know: There is a hereafter. But that's all I know. I rather doubt it can ever be explained.
If you experience something unusual. Later are you experienced making it less unusual ? When it is less unusual does this make it less alerting. Experiencing no g force, seeing things that aren't meant to be seen, or just imagining things for them to happen or be brought back up for you to realize. Perhaps a mind over matter fore thought with atoms anticipating.
My pond fish know food comes from the creature over the pond. They line up in military style and wait for food. I wonder what good knowledge of another dimension or dimensions would serve.
I remember my freshman year English teacher reading a short story about a planet where people develop very quickly. An earthly rocketship crashed and the people tried to fix it quickly to attempt to leave so they could live longer. I can't remember the name of that story. But, it sounds similar to Dragon's Egg.
The life hereafter has been explained by latter-day prophets. But, the specifics aren't supposed to be explained. We are here to learn by FAITH that God lives, Jesus is our Savior and Redeemer. We can know this by and through the influence and gift of the Holy Ghost. Scientifically we can guess how it is all done.
I agree with the comments on how Christianity is designed. The last is nonsense. There is not and will never be an opinion from science on ANYTHING about the gods and/or the supernatural. Science is constructed to explore how the universe works. It depends on a reasonably rigorous definition of what is evidence and what is not. It depends on independent and repeatable testing, with full knowledge that testing god is nosense. Science has nothing to do with faith.
Since no one has seen or experienced other dimensions than the 3 we live in, those are simply supernatural theories where God can exist. So, their is nothing nonsensical about this. Not only that, the Holy Ghost works in these dimensions and string theories so that he can touch everyone all at the same time and dwell with in us as well.
