yeah, the regulation is so vital that people have 2 years to comply. To the average Hab, that means they have two years to sneak more of them into their country and figure out where to hide them.
It'll be interesting to see how they enforce it. They dumped their long gun registry and destroyed the records in 2012 (iirc) due to it not being worth what it cost to maintain. Since then, many AR-similar rifles have been for sale unrestricted in Canada. TBC- Canada requires a gun liscence for all firearms. So by 'unrestricted', Im referring to their classification whereby many hunting rifles, including AR-similar semiautomatic rifles chambered in .223/5.56 with pistol grip and magazine are (until this new law) legal to purchase with their basic gun liscence (called a PAL) which is available to 'hunters.' The records of who has a PAL are, I'm certain, kept. But the records of who purchased which long-gun, supposedly, were not. I don't forsee a lot of voluntary participation in this ban... time will tell.
You argued that registration was not so that they can take guns away and you are incorrect. Taking them for my children or future generations while claiming "were not taking them" is what is actually happening. Registered firearms in CA may not be sold, transferred, or inherited.
So don't have one. The 2A isn't about deer hunting, it's about protection against government tyrants like Trudeau. Here's hoping lots of Canadians ignore this latest idiocy.
Even the Clinton DOJ said the AWB had no effect on crime. It isn't about crime, it's about government control of the sheeple.
You would be amazed at what you are allowed to make all on your own vs purchase. Seems like the commerce is what is really regulated.
I know, I've been in Canada before. Do you have something to add or should I assume this is the point of the conversation we trade jabs before either side signs off? Yeah we would assume that, yet here we are.
You've been answered multiple times, you just dont seem to either like it or understand it. The reason they can pass the legislation is they a different government structure and operating procedures. Mainly, they dont have a 2nd amendment that protects their gun rights. Our 2nd amendment, while still open to interpretation by ruling politicians, is specific enough where it prevents major changes like canada just passed. Also, the power of the states is stronger here and is part of our foundation, so federal legislation like that is not constitutional.
Then I responded with other countries have those too. Every country has norms surrounding guns. Yet they aren't enough, or their supporters aren't enough to stop gun laws from being passed. It doesn't matter what the constitution says, we ignore that when we see fit. What matters is what are the unique American gun network that keeps guns widely available when other countries won't.
Mass shooting in Nova Scotia, now Trudeau is going to pass a bill to outlaw more assault rifles. Yeah I get the basic idea.
They dont, just because you say so doesnt make it true. America, like every other country in the world, has it's own unique governing system and operating procedures. I dont know of any two country's with identical governments and operations.
Idiocy abounds. In most of the country it is illegal to hunt deer with AR15, because an AR15 is too small to kill a deer quickly.
They don't have similar governments, but you can call them countries. How can you call something x, when every instance of x is unique? The fact is different countries have different values yes, but we can still compare and contrast them with other countries.
AR-15 comes chambered in like 20 different calibers, plenty of which are completely fine for deer if not overkill. Such as a .308
Because what makes up how a government operates is the combination of dozens of ideas/concepts/laws....etc... not just one. So many factors are taken into account when it comes to government and structure that it would be impossible to replicate. It's statistics.
To the common person, canadian law, they are the same. Fact is i can put down a picture of both and you wouldn't be able to tell me which is what because they are indistinguishable. As you can see, indistinguishable. .308 aside, how about .277 that would do fine.
And statistics are based on concepts. You need to know what counts as like cases to compare and contrast other cases. You have to be able to create concepts that group ideas together, even if they are individually different. That's unit of analysis.
