“I view myself as a transition candidate,” Biden said during a virtual fundraising event on Thursday, adding: “My job… is to bring the Mayor Petes of the world into this administration… and even when they don’t come in, their ideas come into this administration.” Is Biden saying that because America won't elect 'the Mayor Petes of the world' that Biden will be the middleman to get them into power? Or what? Why elect a 'transition candidate'? Why not just elect the candidate you actually want? Can anyone make this make sense?
the dnc know that america will not elect a progressive totalitarian type, that's why they sneak in types like obama, whom backstab those that elected him... what's even more WTH, is they were rioting against rich old white men and then chose one for themselves... biden will not be the president, his vp will... that's a given and nice to see biden actually admitting as much... the dnc leadership will dictate every move the oval office makes including writing all of the hundreds of executive orders that are on standby waiting to be signed by the next dem prez... IF they win in november, the usa will cease to function, it will be broken up and many states will sell out to china...
I don't see it as a difficult concept to grasp. And I think he makes a great point. His plan is to move the country toward equal rights and equal representation. He can't do it on his own, so he will pack his administration with individuals who are more representative of the bulk of the country.
Seems pretty sound logic to me. Trump is a transitional candidate - taking the Republican Party from sane to circus act in four years.
What is the logic path that led you to this interpretation? I ask because afaik he didn't actually include that in the context of the statement. What more can be done to further 'equal rights and equal representation'?
Indeed - Trump could be seen as a transitional candidate as well. His supporters were all in favor of a new breed of President. And they got one. Hard for them to begrudge their opposition for doing the same.
You asked people to make sense of it - so that was my attempt. What is yours? Furthering equal rights and equal representation would be to have more people of color in the administration. Instead of appointing friends and donors, he would put people in place who have been fighting for and working with specific causes that would give them experience in their new position. Unlike, say, those responsible for HUD and education today.
I already provided what I think he was saying, based entirely off of what he said- that he intends to be the middleman to transition in people that couldn't get in via democracy, like specifically mentioned Mayor Pete. The question is- why elect Biden to office in order to get Mayor Pete into the administration when Mayor Pete was running for that office? Didn't Biden win because they want Biden and not Mayor Pete?
Um - that happens all the time. Just because Mayor Pete was not ready (in the eyes of the people) to be POTUS, doesn't mean he doesn't have something great to contribute. The same with all the other candidates.
That only makes sense if we accept that only people of color can effectively represent people of color... which would mean that only whites can effectively represent whites or only asians can effectively represent asians, and so on. Is that what you believe?
Makes sense to me. He's going to make limited reforms based on his advisors who come from diverse backgrounds. I understood that.
It means he recognizes the weakest area of his support is with younger voters. He’s simply saying he’s willing to transition in the next generation so they can contribute and gain experience. Being open to new ideas is not a bad thing.
No, of course I don't. Representation means inclusion. And I think it will take an administration a much further way if they expand to include people of color, women and people from the LGBT community. My caveat, always, is that they are QUALIFIED to be there - not just a token member.
He's gonna pick a radical leftist. Then resign leaving us in the hands of the far left who we did not vote for.
He's letting everyone know that he'll do what he's told by the people who really want to run the country.
It just means he won't allow himself to be boxed into his own agenda, or by his own generational baggage and biases. He represents a start towards something bigger, greater than he can accomplish on his own in four years. He intends to provide opportunity and experience to the next generation of Dems and progressives that they can use as they gain power and influence.
nothing is greater than the constitution therefore anything any president does is worse than what came before. the government needs to do exactly nothing more than it's already doing. no new laws, no new taxes, provide no new services. if anything less of all that is better
OMFG! So ****ing sick of this crap. Why the hell should anyone care about the color of peoples skins? Everyone has different experiences. That is what makes us all human beings. We're not one hive mind. If all you do is think of skin color then that is all that is all that you're going to base your thoughts, and policies, on. How is that equal....in any way shape or form? Equal would be considering everyone as human beings without resorting to someone's skin color to decide things. Equal would be only looking at someone's taught qualifications for the specific job that is required of them and ONLY their taught qualifications. Equal would be making the law apply to everyone equally regardless of skin color, creed, political affiliation, gender, class (social or materially), and everything else out there. Equal is NOT taking into consideration ANY of those things. The only thing tearing this country apart is identity politics and those that use it.
Appointing unqualified individuals on the basis of their race does nothing to further equal rights. Those who believe matters such as skin color, race, gender, or sexual orientation, are of far more importance than qualification, are nothing more than racists.
Essentially if you have an agenda besides the constitution you are not qualified to be a public employee of any kind.
He referring to a softening of views about gays. He isn't acting as a middle man. He is old school but accepting of the new social paradigms. He is a reflection of the change occurring, not promoting or causing it.
