It's a revolutionary machine. It cooks better and in less time. I made the best fried chicken ever the other night. You're welcome.
Oh indeed. Just make sure you get one big enough to do a whole chicken and a couple shelves. I can do a whole bag o' chicken wings in mine. They come out a-mah-zing too.
y'all do realize that an air frier is actually a convection oven, right? most microwaves & ovens have convection as well as conventional settings...
Sure, if your main oven has "true" convection capabilities to include an active fan. Takes longer to cook small things like chicken wings though.
which brand & size did y'all get? i mostly bbq & grill (there is a difference between the two) , rarely fry anything but might try one of them air thingamajigs
I can't remember off the top of my head. Mine's squarish and has a window on the top which is great for when you first get it and don't know how long and at what temp to cook at. Has a rotisserie attachment and I can do a whole chicken in that sucker, so it's not a small one.
i'll wait for more replies, if any come... meantime i'll look at one of these... noise is a factor, so maybe that faberware one, idk https://www.consumerreports.org/air-fryers/best-air-fryers-of-the-year/
I had to apologize to my Crock-Pot for naming my Air Fryer *Best Small Appliance* ever. I could use my AF every single day. Amazing!
It's GREAT for wings but DO NOT cook a steak in it. Even though it tells you (on their website) it'll cook it to perfection, it's not good at all. Tastes like someone boiled a steak.
Yea stick with the grill or skillet/oven for steak. The air fryer wings are wonderful though. Nice and crispy. I also make cheesy french fries in the air fryer.
So I make the french fries first. And then when they are about 2 minutes from being cooked to perfection, I add shredded cheese on top. That way, it doesn't melt to the bottom. Made that mistake a few times.
Wow. How do you do the cheesy fries? I would think it would all ooze out to the grease catcher. P.S. Have no clue how that attachment got there. ;-0
No worries- answered this right above your last comment. I cook the fries and then when they are 2 minutes from being done, I add shredded cheese. It cooks it perfectly without dripping below the fries
No problem! I have an update. I recently marinaded some small chicken thighs (skinless) and cooked them via air fryer. First try, was bad. I seasoned them before putting them in and didn't end up tasting it that much. Decided to make another round of chicken thighs with more taste. I cooked them three quarters of the way and then added the seasoning, then finished the chicken in the air fryer...SO much better.
I have the T-Fal Actifry. It was one of the first to come out and I've had it for a few years with great success. I use it for french fries almost exclusively, but also use it to reheat fried foods - it will remove excess fat and make it crispy once again. Great if you want take out fried stuff! I've purchased them for friends and family as gifts - all well received.
Thanks for the tip. Did your chicken thighs have bone-in or boneless? I find they cook better (in general) with the bone-in. I also get a different result from cooking bone-in white meat as well. What do you think?
Agree- bone in is always the way to go. One fun (and super easy) recipe I do with bone-in skinless thighs. It's not an air fryer recipe it's for the oven though: 1. Place chicken in a baking dish 2. Season chicken first (with whatever is your favorite) 3. Place in oven at 375 degrees for an hour 4. About 40 minutes into cooking, add broccoli, asparagus, and some onions (or whatever veggies you like) that have been soaked in olive oil prior and then season those veggies (i love seasoned veggies) 5. Take out after an hour, check the meat's temperature, and enjoy
Never tried an air fryer, I have an insta-pot and a convection toaster oven. id have to explore some recipes
