Has Trump collected his Nobel Peace Prize for Ending the Korean War, yet? Isn't that what all of Trump's Supporters were saying was going to happen? Wow. It looks like Trump (and his supporters) got a little ahead of themselves. But, honestly, let this sink in: Some people actually thought that Trump was going to Denuclearize (and bring Peace to) Korea. Trump bring Peace to Korea?
I will never criticize the idea of dialogue and peace, I agree in general that we can't say "Wahh, you're bad" and then take our toys and go home. That's the kind of thing that you'd have Trump pegged for, but it has been our foreign policy for decades. There was nothing wrong with negotiation, but it was clear the North wasn't serious and so we should have put and kept the pressure on. China only supports North Korea to the extent that it can be a proxy state, but does not want North Koreans crossing the border. That's why the Chinese have been trying to play in the middle, to keep NK as a proxy but to not enable the war to break out. Frankly, I would have continued racheting up tensions with the North Koreans, while behind closed doors I give China a choice. They can closely align with America and be assured that NK will remain a mostly Chinese-aligned State but without nuclear weapons, or they can go down with the North Koreans. Given the alternatives, China would gladly help us de-nuclearize the NK State.
Trump gave Kim an ultimatum and he (Kim) only partially met his obligation. Kim was hoping that he would give a little and Trump would fold and reduce the sanctions or what every other democrat president has done and paid Kim to be good. Trump didn't pay nor did he give an inch on the sanctions since Kim refused to stop so Kim is having a tantrum now without gain an inch financially.
It’s obvious Kim Jong Un got his cake and ate it too—every last slice. Most knew Trump was being played from the beginning.
The statement originally came from Kim Yo Jong, the sister of Kim Jong Un. She took control of a portion of the Government when Un did his disappearing act earlier this year. At the same time, she was threatening violence at a Liaison office located at the border. It seems that NK defectors were flying balloons with anti-NK leaflets across the border. They had broached the problem with the SK government, and the SK government promised to crack down on the defectors. The only problem is that the defectors had not actually broken any SK laws. So, the SK Government stated that they would pass new laws, and then enforce them. Well, Kim Yo can not understand a country that is not a dictatorship. Where they actually have to have a law before they could charge someone with a crime. So, she threatens SK with military action, threatens to distroy the liaison office, and trashes President Trump for setting preconditions for removing sanctions. https://www.usnews.com/news/world/a...sister-threatens-s-korea-with-military-action
