Agreed, I want drunk drivers off the road and anyone who strikes a cop 5 years. That guy should have done 5-10 years in jail. not dead from two bullets in the back. I don't want criminal coddled at all.

I want drugs legalized and subisidized for adult addicts. If they want to lose their souls to drugs, screw them. Right now 1/2 of all police manpower is drug and drug related crime.
Free up the cops and prisons space to lock up the true sociopaths up for 2x as long.

Yes how do we? How about we start by not admiring it and calling such mother "brave" and using other such glowing terms. Shaming comes to mind. Educating on personal responsibility. Holding the fathers accountable. Lowering the welfare money we send requiring the mothers AND the fathers to support their children. Requiring the mother to disclose at birth who is the father and if she refuses to apply legal sanctions and again lessening the welfare going to the mother requiring her make it up and if she refuses place the child into protective custody due to an unfit mother.

It's by being a concerned citizen and concerned about the generations of children being raised in such circumstances. I guess you don't care about them?

We do not have any view. He was shot in the back. He posed no significant threat of death or seriously bodily harm with a freaking taser on him. Hence according to your own source.... the cops broke the freaking law.

I am not the one claiming that there is a quick and easy way to fix or fight single motherhood. The solutions of shaming single mothers is silly and stupid.

If you want to reduce the rate of single mothers then early and easy access to birth control and abortion are key.

 

This guy created a situation that resulted in his death. The officers shouldn't have shot him, he shouldn't have fought the police period and the officers should be punished. It's going to be awful hard to convict this officer with the guy fighting, going for their weapon (it could've been a gun) then running and shooting a taser at them.

 

It clearly looks like he is reaching back to fire a taser at the officer.

I think it comes down to whether a regular citizen who is armed with a gun would have reasonable fear to shoot someone who was shooting a taser at them. While the taser is less than lethal would a person have the right to resist an assault like that with deadly force?

 

What's a long term fix I didn't ask for a time frame but you are asking others so what are your thoughts? We used to shame the mothers and fathers when I was growing up and we didn't have near the single motherhood. And it's also let's not CELEBRATE it, it's a tragedy for the child. BC is WIDELY available and cheap, let's not have a baby first and then have to kill it as the solution. Abortions have not decreased single motherhood it has exploded WITH abortion.

 

A police officer is not a "regular citizen", he is the officer of the law charged with the duty to apprehend the criminal or eliminate the threat. The TASER is a disabling weapon. It the criminal was swing a bat and officers head in order to knock him out and disable him and then be able to grab his deadly force would be appropriate there too.

And let's not forget we don't get to Monday morning quarterback this, we have to judge it on what that officer perceived at that moment, what a reasonable officer in the position and that moment in time would perceive.

Of course not. There is no training (that I know of) for responding to a taser being shot at you and the allowable use of force. That is why I think it is not criminal but I am OK with the cop getting fired.

A taser is not a significant threat of death or serious bodily harm to the officer or others. It's considered non lethal weapon .. hence the cops are not allowed to just execute him.
