Its much more than that. The evidence finds racial impact at every level of life. You're more likely to have better heathcare from birth to death etc etc etc. The real problem is why Americans haven't acknowledged that reality. Its all evidence freely available after all. Are Americans simply prone to racism, or are they playing catch-up? Could there be another rationale?

So, if everyone drives a nice car, like Porsche, with tinted windows, in exact same manner, then the black guy still gets pulled over?
    Absurdity!

Sorry, given I asked you to run a decomposition analysis I'm shocked that I missed your results. Please post them again ;)

No, you just proved that you are not taking all variables into account. ;)

The discrimination analysis you were supposed to do naturally takes into account numerous variables. Don't bore me. Do what you've been asked! Cheers ;)

    I already did.
You can use fancy labels all you want, but:
    ln(A) - ln(B) = 0
    Is exactly the same as:
    A-B = 0.

My analysis was in that post.
    You asked for proof.
    I provided.
You refuse to even discuss and acknowledge my proof.

That means you are here to troll or have serious difficulties understanding math!

    Math isn’t racist. ;)
    I proved you wrong.

It really is absurd, and it needs to stop.

You are not questioning other possible reasons for getting in contact with cops - you can have three guys, all black, interacting with cops because one blew through stop sign, another was caught stealing, and a third one was openly drinking alcohol in children’s playground. Just because they are black doesn’t mean that that was the reason for contact with the cops.
    Correlation does not mean causation.

As I said, don't pretend you want to understand it when you don't. At least be honest.

    I am trying to understand.
Why is it wrong to ask - if racism keeps all blacks down, then why do black immigrants do so much better than American blacks? It blows my mind!

To demonstrate that, you will need to control for the variables. Unless there is a police directive to stop all black people, how do you do that?

You're doing the suggesting. If you stretch any farther you will surely sprain something.

The evidence exists that black businesses often fail for exactly the same reasons as white start-ups --- insufficient cash cushion, bad credit relations with suppliers insisting on cash up front until the business can prove its reliability, employee issues up to and including embezzlement, intellectual property theft --- or more.

It all depends on the location, the intended clientele, and of VERY course the actual product or purpose of the business itself. Which all gets back to the imagination of the company owner, finding what will sell in a given area.

Socialist appeals to the underclass are nothing new, despite ethnicity or nation. For more fortune cookie wisdom..... Seriously? Always go for the undereducated, the poor, the stupid or just only lazy. Promise them a slice of a pie you alone get to cut up. Tell them equality wins if democracy dies.

    Be a Democrat.

I see by your avatar that I address a fellow squid (whether active or other). So let's trot our bellbottomed selves back to those hoary old days just after Rocks and Shoals went out and keelhauling became a no-no and all those Pentagon peaceniks said the services had to accept blacks. That was Eisenhower trying to get it adopted and Truman who rammed it through, or at least that's my interpretation. But it happened.

And after the talented rose and the mediocre found refuge in other specialties rather than stewards or cooks or other subservient jobs, they gave way to the NEXT great fear, women in this man's Navy. What next, blueberry camo and combat boots? Fuhgeddaboudit.

I've seen black technicians who freaking-well DAZZLE the white dudes in their shop. I've seen the number of black billionaires rise dramatically in just the last 30 years.

You may see only black privilege. I see a hand up is not a handout. What blacks do with equal opportunity is up to them, but they should not expect equal outcome. Not even us honkies can expect that.

That is basically the idea. White people, just by being white, live in a different world than most minorities. Discrimination comes in all forms and everyone in the world has faced it in some form of another. Some people face it more than others for various reasons such as gender, sexual orientation, class status, disabilities, etc.

There are countless cases of discrimination all over the world. It's just not often talked about in a way that both sides can learn and grow from new information they may not have considered before embarking on such a discussion. This thread, for example, shows that many people just want to argue about why their position is right rather than accepting that things are not simply black and white (no pun intended).

I have witnessed all kinds of discrimination because of the kind of work I do. It is much more prevalent than the average person thinks.

Thanks for being willing to have a civil discussion about this. I look forward to your response.

Priviledge of all sorts exists, some of it bad, some of it good.

There seems to be this assumption from some that any difference in outcome is automatically due to discrimination or priviledge. This is wrong.

    Redlining

    By WILL KENTON
    Updated Sep 6, 2019
Redlining is an unethical practice that puts services (financial and otherwise) out of reach for residents of certain areas based on race or ethnicity. It can be seen in the systematic denial of mortgages, insurance, loans, and other financial services based on location (and that area’s an individual’s qualifications and creditworthiness. Notably, the policy of redlining is felt the most by residents of minority neighborhoods.

Correct. Race itself is not the issue. Its the systematic racism built into the system.

Well I'm happy to have civil discussion on this or any other issue of the day, but the nature of online forums make that difficult. As to the topic, the issue isn't really about discrimination, it's about whites holding a privileged place as white people. In what way is white privilege different from mere majority privilege, which is pretty much universal in every society in which there is a majority group?

I believe that they go hand in hand. You cannot have privilege without discrimination.

FALSE, the person who approves and denies loans uses a set of criteria set forth by the lending institution and federal gov't. The underwriters never see or talk to the applicant and are usually in a separate state. No racial descrimination.
