You know, I think you've hit on something important that Black people just will not accept, and that is: It's not all about them. White people do not think about Black people 24/7 in the way that Black people do about White people. If there is a white privilege, it's this: Whites don't have to think about race that much because most whites live in White World so racial issues just don't come up very much. Black people, who have to work and deal with white people all the time, never get past it or get over it, so they can't imagine that white people aren't as spun up as they are.
~ One of the worst things government can do is make people feel victimized and dependent on others. Unfortunately this has been a calling card of the Democrat Party that has continued to this day.
Everyone's a victim and revenge must be sought. Down wit' da man, y'all. They're the party having a very hard time finding good in life itself much less America.
But not Robin DiAngelo. She writes that white people who claim not to care about the colour of one's skin AT ALL are the most destructive sort of white people and the people who make that claim are displaying White Fragility.
And Ms. DiAngelo says that not having to think about race is a manifestation of White Privilege. I am actually reading her book right now and it is very enlightening about Critical Race Theory which is what is underpinning all this talk about White Privilege.
Every major city has been run by Democrats-only for several decades now. Republicans are virtually nonexistent, relegated to suburbs that blacks rarely visit for fear of imaginary racism. Your observation about working and dealing with white people reminds me of how conservatives feel about working in an infestation of woke's-a-jokesters.
In that case the person in question is a flaming racist. Colourblindness and meritocracy is the only equality we can ever have. It's what the twentieth century battles were all about. ENDING race-based discrimination and/or privilege.
Not all white people got that memo. These people probably never had much exposure to blacks and are probably racists. Are they "Privileged" because of their skin? Poverty in America is not a "privilege". Black lives matter. White lives matter. All lives matter. Poverty sucks equally across all races.
I made a very good friend at work once and early in our friendship he invited me to dinner with his family. He warned me that he and his family were racists and I should be prepared to hear some racist remarks. The odd thing is that he got on very well with all the Black people in our workplace and was very comfortable around them. He said about his racism "I don't hate Black people, I just think they are inferior." In any case, I never heard him or his family to make a racist remark. The subject just never came up.
And yet her book has been on the best seller list for many months. Here is the blurb from Beacon Press https://www.beaconbroadside.com/bro...-6-months-as-a-new-york-times-bestseller.html She is the superstar of the racism business.
The problem is that the BLM Cultural Marxism movement is defined as "us" and "them" (as you just did). The Humanist movement, and American Cultural tradition, is defined by the individual, not the collective. It is "me" and "you". I might like you and dislike your sister, or vice versa. Liking you or not would depend on who you are as an individual human being, not because of what you look like. Not all whites feel the same way about blacks any more than all blacks having the same feelings about people just because they are black. People are individuals; they are not tribes. Racists exist across all races. Racism is not limited to white people.
Black folk don't have anywhere the same difficulty dealing with white folk in the UK. Division and antagonism was never fostered there, and black parents don't - deliberately or unwittingly - generally teach their kids racism.
White privilege doesn't mean you won't have any problems. It just means race won't be one of your problems.
In the United States, redlining was the systematic denial of various services by federal government agencies, local governments as well as the private sector either directly or through the selective raising of prices.[2][3] Neighborhoods with high proportion of minority residents are more likely to be redlined than other neighborhoods with similar household incomes, housing age and type, and other determinants of risk, but different racial composition. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redlining The practice of redlining literally destroyed black communities and it went on for decades. The effects of that policy will be felt for decades after.
There is narrative I have heard that kind of resonates with me. All of the people who put forth this narrative are now banned from youtube. The fact that these people are banned sort of struck me. Perhaps they have gotten close to the truth. Here is the narrative. 1. Elites have always been sociopaths who have never cared about anything but their own wealth. 2. Throughout history, the only group of people who fought against and checked the power of Western elites were white commoners who organized. 3. Western elites prefer non-white workers because they can abuse them and pay them less than white workers and they will never rise against the elites. 4. Western elites prefer mass non-white immigration so they can use ethnic differences to subdue and break the will of their white work force to the point that they are unable to organize and fight for their rights. 5. The hoped for end result is the complete erasure of human rights for everybody and a bureaucratic entity (accountable only to the elites) like the Chinese Government, UN or EU in charge of everything. Here are some evidences: 1. Every corporation fell in line with the BLM movement. 2. Every MSM outlet gaslit the population with the "peaceful protest" narrative even as everybody witnessed the carnage on Twitter. 3. The MSM and the cultural zeitgeist deperson's any white person in any white country that openly advocates for keeping their country's ethnicity. 4. It is morally acceptable in every Western country to disparage white people for being white, and Christians for being Christians. To disparage any other group is to lose your job and your name. 5. To oppose Muslim immigration is now associated with bigotry. 6. Minority crime is covered up in the MSM. The only people who have real knowledge about what is going on are marginalized and deplatformed if they try to inform the wider public. 7. Minorities are bombarded with incidents where a bad result for them came at the hands of a white person.... even if the minority was engaged in serious stupidity or crime. The actual data is NEVER mentioned. The media goes out of the way to stoke resentment of whites by minorities. 8. Not a day goes by without the MSM mentioning white supremacy and Hitler. It is literally everywhere now. In corporate owned games, comics, movies, TV Shows, athletic events... everywhere. The narrative is consistent and relentless. 9. Whites have become accustomed to see other whites lose their careers and their reputations for any negative interaction with a minority... regardless of who was at fault. This is a power move to keep whites from organizing and to keep their morale down. 10. Because the MSM can't find enough incidents in real life, they promulgate hate hoaxes against blacks at an ever increasing rate. 11. They have introduced pseudo-science and quackery into the curriculum for schools across the nation.... girls can have penises, Western civilization is evil, Christianity is white supremacy, etc... 12. Emotionalism has replaced rationality. Feeling now trump reason. 13. The corona lockdown was done with the iron fist of the elite and was used ruthlessly against whites when they protested against it. You will notice that it was whites only who really protested the authoritarianism (meaning they haven't broke us yet). In a single day, the MSM/government completely backed down in lockstep with the medical community to let minorities burn down and loot cities. Nothing exposed their level of corruption and cynicism more than that. I could go on and on about this and expand on it but you get the picture. So, is the narrative Paranoid Conspiracy? Completely off base? Possible? Probable? or Absolutely True? I am really interested in your opinion.
You mean like self-loathing? Feeling like a failure? Feeling like a victim of society where you couldn't make it? I'd expect that's fairly common with people in generational poverty. Or do mean "race won't be one of your problems", as in, if you're white and poor you won't feel like you failed and can blame some other group for your failure? Poor white people can't blame another entire group of people for their ills. So that is, in fact, one less problem.
Probable. Or some variant of the same thing, at least. It's become clear that there's deliberate sabotage of autonomy and industry in certain groups. Perhaps whoever is driving it is the closest thing we have to a Supremacist power base. The trick is that they can't brazenly act out the way Hitler et al did in past centuries, so they're cloaked as allies. It takes all of five minutes of thought to see that what they're doing is deeply destructive and controlling - which is precisely how we know it's deliberate. It's incredibly sinister.
