SO WHAT? ' Are you saying that because women act like human beings they should be punished by losing their right to bodily autonomy and be forced to become broodsows for righties ???
NO ONE IS OBLIGATED TO HAVE KIDS . NO ONE IS OBLIGATED TO USE BIRTH CONTROL. It's that simple and NO ONE HAS SHOWN ANY LAWS THAT SAY OTHERWISE...
IF that is what she CHOOSES to do. She has NO OBLIGATION TO. ...and you'd better check your stats on condom effectiveness....you didn't even know when most abortions take place!!!!!!!
So I gather your 'sentience' standard is not one you want to stick with for the purpose of this discussion, if it means you cannot pull dandelions out of your garden. It so happens I don't either, mostly because I rip cherries and apples and berries off the sentient branches of trees and shrubs utterly indifferent of how the plant or the fruit feel about my premeditated attack. I am fine with the legal precedent that we have established that humans are treated differently from other animals with respect to a presumptive right to live after birth. I am fine with the a tiered extension of a right to live for humans prior to natural birth based on the trimester test set out by Roe. I don't have a better option in mind that current law.
It’s often that people don’t want to admit that they did not use contraception or used it incorrectly. Fat people also often claim their calorie intake is much lower than it is. Such is the problem with self reported events.
I’ve made myself quite clear on this with my seeing a clear green light to abortion in the first trimester and a more ambiguous light after that that turns logarithmically red.
FoxHastings said: ↑ NO ONE IS OBLIGATED TO USE BIRTH CONTROL. LOL....wow, you addressed a post !!! NO, NO one is obligated to use birth control and YOU have NEVER proven they do, you haven't showed aNY LAW THAT SAYS THEY DO. Hey righties WHO THINK WOMEN MUST USE BIRTH CONTROL BUT you WON'T WEAR A mask!!! Isn't that rather homicidal of YOU
Yes, people are human and make mistakes.....if they didn't commit a crime they shouldn't be punished... ..I bet even you have made a mistake or two?? Did you want to be punished for the rest of your life for it?
The assertion was that a contraceptive failed. Either they are using point in time measures, or prescribed measures, or long term measures. The failure rates of which are minimal to begin with. But even so, given an estimate that of all methods, and shaping for use, 5.6% failure still doesn't explain the on demand abortion rates in comparison. But, ok, if only 5.6% of abortions are required by failure, that is still millions of abortions that were for other non medical or non failure. Right?
I still think that self reported contraceptive failure is suspect but still believe that first trimester abortion should be unencumbered without respect to the cause.
So are you going to go up to each woman who has an abortion an make them prove they were raped, or their birth control failed, or that they have a medical condition that makes carrying to term problematic or dangerous or a dozen other reason other than "poor morals"? You realize that married women get abortions, right? Woman who only have one partner? And you realize that millions of women (and men) suffer from manic episodes where often sex drive is elevated and rational thought depressed, right? You realize that millions of women suffer from high blood pressure, heart problems, spine problems, fibroids, pelvic problems, uterine deformaties, cancer ... and a host of other medical conditions that make carrying to term difficult and sometimes dangerous. And some problems aren't brought to light until the complications of pregnancy appear. You understand that women are all individuals - not just baby making machines, right?
next they will say she has an obligation to marry her rapist http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Deuteronomy 22:28-29&version=NIV
That’s what the ancient Israelis said. It was also a sin to eat pork and mix linens but I don’t see that being enforced. No throngs of protestors demanding legislation at BBQ restaurants or Macy’s
"""""""Deuteronomy 22:28-29 28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay the girl's father fifty shekels of silver. [a] He must marry the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives."""" Gee, what evil created that sick twisted idea ?.....punish raped women for being raped....sounds so MUSLIM...
Changing the topic, FoxHastings? I thought we agreed that we weren't going to deflect and bring up the rape/health issue exceptions in this thread. You can never win an argument, so you always have to try to deflect off to some other one, I've noticed. Pro-choicers in this forum are always trying to deflect. "What about her health?!" "What about rape!?" Even in threads that aren't about those topics. (I'm certainly happy to discuss those topics, and have done so in the past, but I won't let you derail the discussion here)
Nope, this is all part of "abortion".. I see YOU still can't address posts except to criticize, not present facts or an argument or a POINT. I don't know who "we" is but it doesn't include me. I always win, and you NEVER can refute my posts... YUP! They're always throwing FACTS into your threads and spoiling your plans LOLOLLOL Maybe you try doing that by addressing the content of the posts rather than the poster???? Haven't you learned?
When I was young, I was pro choice because I figured it was a personal matter for women. After a time, I saw that legalizing abortion added to the degradation of society's values, the cheapening of life, of women, and marriage. Legalizing abortion seemed not a wise thing to have done. So I became pro life. Then after more time passed, I see that society is so degraded with perversions, shameless promiscuity, out of wedlock births, and so on, that I see no use in guarding it via the issue of abortion. So now I am back to free choice again. I would counsel against abortion because life is still sacred to me. But to each their own. It is everyone for them selves now. God help us.
. Abortions have been happening for thousands of years...please don't lay the blame for society's ill on women. I don't see any connection between abortion and "the cheapening of life"....haven't you heard of war? Life was cheap from day one. How did abortion cheapen the life of women?? Banning it makes them no more than cattle. Yup, abortion was not to blame.
While I don't agree that using abortion as a form of birth control is morally acceptable, I will never be anti-abortion. Too many people are bringing children in the world SOLELY because they became pregnant and society perpetrates the idea that a "baby is a gift." Well, SOME people don't feel that way and many often take it out on their defenseless child. There will NEVER be any kind of societal healing and lessening of generational trauma on innocent children until a woman can FREELY make whatever decisions she wants about her unborn child. It's not the perfect solution, but the current one clearly is not working.
What can possibly be wrong with limiting abortion rights to the first trimester (no questions even allowed to be asked. Totally on demand) barring significant health problems. The issue is the logarithmically increasing sentience of the developing human being. What decision has anyone ever had to make that required more than 3 months?
