“Thanks to the efforts of municipal employees, I’m happy to say we’ve reached the final phases of completely deluding ourselves into thinking that this pandemic has somehow stopped spreading and that we’re safe,” said Johnson in a press conference, in which he applauded the city for bringing them to this stage by successfully disregarding the virus in previous phases

Good humor always has a degree of fact to it. I live in Florida, and this could have been about any of many cities (including mine) in which the mayor is hard at work dealing with the pandemic by doing... absolutely nothing! But they're just following the leadership (or absence thereof) from the Governor of the State. Who himself, is still stuck in the page of the Trump speech where the Pandemic is "under control", and would just... go away... "like a miracle"...

The U.S. has had the absolute worst handling of any country in the world of this pandemic. The fact that we have the most resources to squander gives us the edge to blow the competition out of the water. And Florida is competing with a handful of other states (including Texas) for the inglorious "distinction" to be the worst of the states in the country with the worst response. Even worse, cities in the state are competing to be the worst in the worst state. With no mask mandate, plans to open schools next month as if nothing were happening, and close to zero communication with the citizens, these cities might be giving the edge in this first round of the pandemic.

Second round promises to be even worse than the first. It is set to start in October, and we will likely see the worst part around November or December. And with no preparation and no support or even clear messaging from the Federal or state government, Florida is likely to again be in the contention to be the worst of the worst.

I had been meaning to address this earlier.... where does time fly...? Anyways... Here's the translation of the above. More than half of those getting admitted to advanced health care for their WuFlu infections already have life long health issues. The fact that they leave a hospital with them still is unsurprising. As for the "they can" is simply fear mongering, and entirely absent actual empiric evidence of this. The fact that so many refuse to return to work isn't entirely attributable to having had WuFlu. Since they are entirely now immune to being reinfected, their entry should be hailed as the safest of us all in the population. But progressive non facts would have you believe that the only reason these folks can't get back to work is both health or psych reasons. Of course for so many of them, a) they didn't work to begin with, b) their jobs were lost because of the shut down in the economy, or c) they were enjoying the free stuff granting them $600 a week while they sojourned... But sure. Every person I know that has had WuFul is back at work. Most worked while they had it (work from home has been super). The absurdity of the general lock down has to be recognized for the economy crushing delights of the democrats who think this will win them an election. It's disgusting.
