Working for hours at a polling place is hardly the same thing as standing in line at a store or going to family parties. It is a VERY LONG day. And some have mentioned on this site, that some polling places have been completely shut down so there are long waits at the ones that remain open. Also not comparable to a run to the store or a family function.

Exactly! What he really did is get the Democrats to 100% fully commit that on November 3rd, the election must be over. No mail-in ballots 17 days late like some Democrat Governors want in an effort to delay the election.

During the Obama era the courts often found Obama's "opinions" dead wrong. Obamacare, getting stripped away a piece at a time. Hideous dictatorial decisions like that forever soiled the alleged legacy of America's worst president. Nothing new for the moron who only taught Constitutional law, but seemingly never read it.

I asked where did he say he WANTED to delay the election or that he would do it? I don't subscribe to the NYT quote from the article him saying these things. Try to focus this time.

So Trump Tweets a supposedly innocent random thought and the left which hates him seizes it and plays right into his hands. The election WILL proceed and Dems now can't say COVID should delay it. They also now can't delay school openings or other large public gatherings. He let them trap themselves.

Trial balloon my eye. He ambushed them. And it worked.

He was supposed to do a cursory check whether he had an opinion. Yup. That had to be it.

Notice the left assumes Trump did NOT check if delays were possible. Just as the right can't prove that he did.

Try and read. You're implying something that wasn't stated, otherwise you wouldn't be asking that question.

    You focus.

The tweet was what is known as a 'trial balloon'. Trump will tweet a trial balloon to gauge public reaction, especially from members of his own party. A trial balloon means that it's an idea Trump is partial to, and would love nothing more than to do it, if he knew he had the support of his party. But, Trump, a man who has proven on many occasion he has no perspective, knowledge, of history or the principles on which America was founded, revealing over and over and over again, he is wholly unfit for office, is perfectly capable of such a tweet. Understand that no president in history would have utter such a thing as that Trump has alluded to.

Well, one such person, a very important person to the president, the cofounder of the Federalist Society, did say something about it.

The very suggesting, hinting at something so blatantly unconstitutional, prompted Mr. Steven Calabresi, who voted for Trump, who is a co-founder of the Federalist Society and a professor at Northwestern University’s Pritzker School of Law, to write the following in an OpEd, entitled:

Trump Might Try to Postpone the Election. That’s Unconstitutional.
He should be removed unless he relents.
    [...]
But I am frankly appalled by the president’s recent tweet seeking to postpone the November election. Until recently, I had taken as political hyperbole the Democrats’ assertion that President Trump is a fascist. But this latest tweet is fascistic and is itself grounds for the president’s immediate impeachment again by the House of Representatives and his removal from office by the Senate.

Note that both Gorsuch & Kavanaugh were his recommendations for SCOTUS.

I would, therefore, submit that he, more than anyone on this forum, has the proper perspective on the gravity of that tweet.

LOL! Threads like this should be bookmarked when the left actually tries to do away with elections altogether. They always accuse their opposition of doing what they actually do.

Trump has once again successfully trolled.the Trump haters.

Event: Trump makes an Utterly Ludicrous Suggestion. Trump gets Totally Humiliated and OWNED

RW Take: "Trump trolled the haters"

You can't make this stuff up.

Once again, let him try to postpone the Federal Election.

Either way we will get Dem. President next January 20th.

Sorry but no I am the one calling out those things that are being implied such as the title if thread.

You have done so in your own post.

You admit he did not call for the election to be delayed or he would use his power to do so.

A cursory check would show that indeed there IS a way any voting could be delayed. Not that it could make much difference as other consitutionallyvmandated dates would come into play.

He did not propose something unconstitutional the Constitution does not set a date for the states to vote. You seem to forget there was talk of delaying the 2012 election because of Hurricane Sandy. Didn't go anywhere then as it won't now.

You took my comment out of context.

Cougarbear said: ↑ Excerpt ...Of course, the same people that complain about standing in line or working at a polling site are the same liars who stand in line at the store, walk around the store without a mask or go to family parties and get sick.

    to which I replied:

Then why did Mr. SteveN Calabresi, the co-founder of the Federalist Society and a professor at Northwestern University’s Pritzker School of Law, whose society provides Trump with federal and SCOTUS recommendations, write the following? :

    https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/30/opinion/trump-delay-election-coronavirus.html

Trump Might Try to Postpone the Election. That’s Unconstitutional.
He should be removed unless he relents.
    [...]

I would, therefore, submit that Calabresi, more than you, I, or anyone on this forum, has the accurate perspective on the gravity of that tweet

On Sandy, I could not find anything where Obama hinted at, alluded to, suggested, or otherwise recommended delaying the vote during Hurricane Sandy, but, he did say the following: (feel free to prove me wrong, though ).

"I am not worried at this point about the impact on the election. I'm worried about the impact on families, and I'm worried about the impact on our first responders. I'm worried about the impact on our economy and on transportation."

"The election will take care of itself next week. Right now, our No. 1 priority is to make sure that we are saving lives, that our search-and-rescue teams are going to be in place, that people are going to get the food, the water, the shelter that they need in case of emergency, and that we respond as quickly as possible to get the economy back on track."

Your point, as far as I can tell, given it's not an apples to apples comparison of presidents alluding to delaying presidential elections 2012 vs now, is therefore specious.

I don't speak for Mr. Calabresi you are the one quoting him why did he post it? Quote Trump say he might try to postpone the election, third time I have asked I think. And no CONGRESS could postpone the date, it is not constitutionally dictated. And yes the same throw it out on the table occurred during Sandy so get your panies out of a wad.

And I just noted that for the poll workers it's like working as a cashier in a store or restaurant. For the voter like walking through the drive through.
