So you admit the President is acting unconstitutionally, giving free money to people in amounts that would make Bernie Sanders and Andrew Yang blush, but Biden will be worse. Sure.
BLM, defunding the police, calling rioters peaceful protesters, and quarantine got under my skin. Any political party supporting that will never get my vote ever again.
AFAIK, tRUMP hasn't figured out how to get the Fed $300 and how each State will cough up the other $100. tRUMP doesn't write checks.
newsflash The Dem house passed the $600 months ago and the GOP Senate refused to even vote on it. When the Dems tried to negotiate a deal to get that done Trump’s Chief if Staff Mark Meadows blocked it Now Trump is trying to get $400 ( with cash strapped states supplying $100 of it) by taking that money from the Disaster Relief Fund with hurricane season approaching oh
I guess I can kind of see associating Biden with the first three, but you must have forgotten this: “We might not have to do it but there’s a possibility that sometime today we’ll do a quarantine — short-term, two weeks for New York, probably New Jersey, certain parts of Connecticut,” Trump told reporters outside the White House Saturday afternoon. The measure would've been “an enforceable quarantine,” Trump said, adding that he’d “rather not do it, but we may need it” to restrict people traveling from New York to other states." Just floating the idea of enforeceably quarantining (and how would that work exactly? Military-manned roadblocks?) entire states should have sent chills down your spine. I'm surprised you forgot. And, of course, Trump was in favor of the lockdown. it's true he wanted to reopen real fast, but he was for the original 15-day lockdown.
Trump can’t even send the Feds to deal with the rioters. Democrats completely ruled themselves out to many moderates who do agree with them on quite a few other issues. I know polls show Biden is leading, but I see a total opposite in real life.
A 15 day full and complete lockdown is better than the half-arsed measures that exist in various states with the effect of one getting a ticket for no face mask in one side of the country, and another guy throwing bottles with urine at cops and getting away with it in another state. This quarantine got absurd. We either do it or we don’t. With what we are doing now we are killing medium and small businesses and not getting anything in return.
Biden isn't running for mayor or governor. Biden doesn't support defunding the police. Biden is law and order. Always has been. Trump can say what he wants. Only his base believes him. The fact of the matter is, all the crap happened under Trump. Trump's America. No thanks.
If you are not on the left it's become too much of a hassle to talk about your politics. It's just not worth it. I don't need fragile bitter democrats shouting at me because I don't consider Trump the devil, Hitler and Ming the Merciless combined. I also will not put my family in danger. So, yeah I think there is a "silent majority". It's like all those BLM signs you see in shop windows. The sign says "Black Lives Matter" but what the shop owner is actually saying is "please don't burn down my store".
Biden is member of a party which pretty much openly endorsed civil unrest, which caused massive financial losses and even deaths. Absolute majority of city councils and mayors who are Democrats endorse defunding the police, which will expose entire families to danger. This is not even a rhetorical conversation anymore. Democrats pander to far left so much that their actions literally become a physical threat to people who live under their rule. With Biden being so old, there is absolutely no doubt that most of the decision making will be done by people he appoints, and those appointees will be people who supported him most. So, yes, by voting for Biden, you literally give a stamp of approval to a political party whose actions could lead to you being dragged out of your car, beaten, and killed with no cops in sight. Every moderate I talked to personally tells me they are outraged by the actions of local politicians who literally allow the unrest to go on. I’ll be very surprised if Biden wins.
Cool story. Reality is: This is Trump's America. Is Trump still president? How are you going to deny this and be taken seriously?
Just compare California and Florida, if you want to see what happens. Florida is 3rd highest in the country for cases-per-capita (ahead of New York even). California is below the national average. Florida has 381 deaths per million people. California has 263. Scores of Florida hospitals maxed their ICU capacity. That hasn't happened in California. California is trying to balance reopening with limiting the number of deaths before a vaccine or effective treatment becomes available. I think they have the right approach. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/ But to back to what we were talking about, you rate the whole quarantine business higher than following the Constitution? Really? Shouldn't that be a dealbreaker in ANY presidential candidate? As a leftist, I will concede Obama totally exceeded his authority on DACA and that, had he ran for a third term in some alternate universe, DACA would have been a dealbreaker for constitutional purists. I'm surprised you're willing to forgive Trump over a clear violation of the separation of powers. Are we a republic or not?
Actually America belongs to everyone. Not the president and certainly not the government. But I get it. It sounds cool to say things like that at parties.
It's hard to take you seriously, given where we're at in this sorry Covid drama. We're the laughing stock of the world. There's been a complete collapse in leadership. Yesterday, Germany saw 600 new cases of Covid. We logged another 55,000. And you claim to be concerned about deaths and you're still voting for the President who's presided over this catastrophe? Yeah, not buying it. You don't give two ***** about these Covid deaths.
The executive branch is in charge of national disaster response. Trump is head of the executive. Of course he's going to get blamed for a lot of this. Where does the buck stop again?
In my eyes, the destabilization that Democrats cause can literally lead to a real civil war or the collapse of the country. What Trump did was wrong. I did not vote for him in 2016. But now I fully intend to, because he is literally a lesser evil. I don’t think I’ll ever support the Dems again. There’s got to be some kind of a “normal” party that resists extremists and doesn’t allow itself to get bogged down in politically correct BS. Until then, the Republicans are the only same ones left here.
Yeah, but Trump has the Bully Pulpit. We know how other countries have brought this to heel. It's not rocket science. Mask wearing and social distancing. By not modelling that, Trump is derelict in his duties. Trump tweeting anti-mask people is not going to age well. It's going to really hurt the Republican party. Republicans were always anti-science, but they weren't complete morons. Being anti-mask, at this stage of the game, is just stupid.
I'm talking about leadership. Trump failed. The evidence is all around us. You may not expect much from the POTUS, but I do.
What could Trump do? Ban travel? Tried that. When he finally restricted travel to China and the EU he was mocked and called a racist against Asians. Warn the country? Well, when he tried, Pelosi was too occupied with impeachment. Enforce quarantine? Well, the feds weren’t very welcome in Portland, so here goes that argument. So, what could Trump do about CONID-19 exactly?
