Republican lawmaker slams far-right conspiracy theory QAnon. Trump's team fires back.

Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., condemned QAnon on Wednesday, saying it has "no place in Congress" on the heels of several Republican candidates who espouse the theory winning congressional primaries.

"Qanon is a fabrication," Kinzinger wrote on Twitter, a day after QAnon supporter Marjorie Taylor Greene won a Republican primary runoff election in Georgia.

"This 'insider' has predicted so much incorrectly (but people don’t remember PAST predictions) so now has switched to vague generalities," he said. "Could be Russian propaganda or a basement dweller. Regardless, no place in Congress for these conspiracies."

    ...

The Trump campaign criticized Kinzinger for coming out against QAnon candidates, questioning why he would bring up QAnon falsehoods instead of ones "pushed by Democrats."

"When will @RepKinzinger condemn the Steele Dossier fabrications and conspiracy theories pushed by Democrats?" tweeted Matt Wolking, deputy director of communications for the Trump campaign. "That actually WAS Russian propaganda."

You'll notice that the Trump campaign not only refuses to condemn QAnon, but even denies that it is Russian disinformation by claiming the Steele Dossier "actually WAS" (of course, it wasn't).

This, in part, is why I say the party of Trump is the Conspiracy Party. It began at least as far back as the Obama years, of course, when birtherism and all manner of other nonsense rhetoric began to take hold, and conservatives began to radicalize under the onslaught of disinformation being distributed and shared online via fake news sites and social media trolls and bots. The situation is only getting worse when millions of Americans embrace QAnon and anything of that sort, which unfortunate they and Trump himself do, Trump having been a birther and otherwise a low-IQ moron taken in by the disinformation the same as so many others.

Of course, I also call the party of Trump the Conspiracy Party because Trump and his allies engage in conspiracies, some of them illegal, to help himself and harm anyone who might challenge him, kind of like how Putin does in Russia to hold onto power and manipulate public opinion there with disinformation. He has so far been able to get away with it all by lying non-stop with a straight face, stirring up virulent support among a woefully uneducated voting base, frightening most Republican representatives and senators into submission, and firing every government official with a backbone as he has been able and replacing them with loyalists who will never question or cross him.

Blame the Washington Free Beacon for the Steele dossier, it was them who commissioned to have it produced.

The hate the far right has for science and facts is only rivaled by their love for the wildest conspiracy theories.

To be sure one must be more than a bit detached from reity to believe that Obama Biden and Comey et al weren't involved in a conspiracy against DJ Trump and various people in his campaign.

The Steele Dossier is only an issue to Trump, anyway. The rest of us have moved well beyond that bit of opposition research for the 2016 campaign, but poor old Dirty Don the Con just can't let it go, and he thinks it's a winning issue to harp on about it in 2020. If he thinks that will distract the voting public from Trump's 3.5 years of constant lies and nationally embarassing and damaging words and actions, and awful mismanagement of the current public health crisis, then he is in for a rude surprise.

Qanon- the only conspiracy theory in the history of conspiracy theories that requires its supporters to think for themselves and to do their own research.

And that scares the hell out of a government that seeds it’s subjects to be dependent, the media that needs its viewers to be dependent, and political candidates that need their voters to be dependent.

What research allows them to perpetuate the belief that certain powerful Dem politicians are involved in pedophilia rings?

Is "moved well beyond" code for ran away because of the illegality and the conspiracy it exposed within your party?

Are you reflexively defending the Q's just because Trump likes them or because you're a member?

Your point is moot, an argument that facts are not real.

Not true. All Conspiracy Theories claim they want people to research for themselves. To research about mental powers, about extraterrestrial visits, about "the Jewish conspiracy", ... And then they tell you where to research. And that often includes legitimate sources where they ... oh so helpfully... tell you what to read, what to ignore and how to read "between the lines". All on the basis of a pre-established conclusion of which you are supposed to find confirmation, while ignoring anything that contradicts it.

Do you really believe that what these nutjobs do is new? Only new thing about it is that now they have an asterisk President* who loves their conspiracy fantasies.

This presumes that the left never ever did similar stunts, which would be dead wrong.

I remember when the Dems rounded up several hundred alleged psychiatrists to all say Barry Goldwater was unfit to serve. Then they pointed the media at that rigged coalition. Telling the A.P. got it spread all over. Read between the lines --- he's crazy.

But nothing to see here, move along, the honest Dems all left town ages ago and the remaining hypocrite pols who support senile Biden and Willie Brown's former squeeze are all that remain of a once-honorable party.

Do I believe leftist nutjobs are new? I grew up near Ann Arbor. I've studied that sorry demented breed my entire life. They're not new, nor original. The only difference is technology which allows their agitprop sniveling more places to get promulgated.
