You can take a horse to water..... Perhaps you would prefer George Galloway and John Pilger rather than an ex Prisoner to describe things to you. However the title of that video "Galloway: "Assange may have to die before journalists realize implications" is wrong. I put in a couple of links about that in another of the Assange Threads http://www.politicalforum.com/index...des-behind-bars.556281/page-6#post-1070622052 Regardless of whether you like the man or not, any one who supports democracy cannot be supporting his continued incarceration and intended extradition to stay in jail probably in solitary for the rest of his life which he was prior to being taken to hospital and the effects of which are discussed in the previous video I left .....and all this punishment for providing truthful information of the wrong doing of the elite, war crimes and so on. Talk about blaming the messenger and protecting those who did wrong.
Right now, he is being detained for breaking bail. That has nothing whatsoever to do with his supposed journalism, but with his failure to respect the law. The US wants him for other crimes that, again, aren't journalism. You'll forgive me if I roll my eyes at a video from RT, Russia's propaganda network targeting the west.
My personal feelings about such nonsense could not amount to censorship, no. I have no power to silence RT and their disinformation efforts.
You do not get detained from breaking bail in solitary confinement in our most secure penal establishment with the most dangerous criminals only. You get something like ten days without solitary in a normal prison. Do you expect me to take the rest of this with any more seriousness that your first bit. Assange is being held in solitary confinement in the most secure prison in the UK with the most dangerous prisoners in it. What I heard described today as The British Guantanamo because Democracies like that of Sweden and the UK are colluding with the US in its desire to criminalise free speech and stop people reporting things which the US elite do not like. Your putting down of RT is a very old and very pathetic attempt to deny something without answering it. RT now has some of the best and most independent thinkers of the West. By negating RT in the way you just did you yet again show yourself to be a very black and white person with no ability for discretion or objectivity. Now where this came in was not anything to do with your belief of why he is in jail. Our discussion began with the UK denying what the UN Special Rapporteur said about Julian Assange and that is the belief of those who examined them, experts in the field, that he was showing signs of prolonged psychological torture. To take someone suffering from prolonged psychological torture and put him in somewhere with an expertise for such ways is without question to be encouraging the destruction of the man and not taking the duty of care which all people are entitled to - even ones who some people of the US want to kill because they do not like the true things he has reported. In the introduction at Democracy Now it says He believes Assange will face a Political show trial in the US which I would say looks very likely and that it is unlikely he would receive a fair trial which I would also go with. Now about what we were talking about which contrary to your belief that it was about him facing jail for not keeping his bail, what we were discussing was the fact that you stated your belief that Hunt who to my knowledge has never met Assange, nor has any serious knowledge of psychological torture was a superior person to know whether Assange was suffering psychological torture than Melzer and his team. As it happens Democracy Now gives the quote of Hunt's response to Melzers report which as I said believes that Assange is suffering from prolonged psychological torture - the details of which you can find at the link and Melzers tells us his response to Jeremy Hunt. https://www.democracynow.org/2019/5/31/seg_1_julian_assange_please_update
The UN issued an official statement that 'collective punishment of Julian assange must end now'. UN official statement link
Simple solution: America would be moral and just if she would just shrug and let the world rot. After all, it's what the world deserves...maybe even twice over.
Is Assange slowly being murdered? I suspected it because I know what was done to Miloshevik, but I assumed it was a low dose poison, not a psychological death. According to one source, he might have only days to live. Assange’s Swedish lawyer Per Samuelson has told the press that “Assange’s health situation last Friday was such that it was not possible to conduct a normal conversation with him.” Caitlin Johnstone asserts that it has long been an established fact that Assange was in failing health while in the Ecuadorian embassy in London; doctors who visited him published an article months ago in the Guardian, in January 2018, saying “We examined Julian Assange, and he badly needs care but he can’t get it”. It is not a ‘conspiracy theory’ to say outright that the police, intelligence, judicial and military agencies of the UK are carrying out his death sentence (by order of their masters in America). https://theduran.com/is-julian-assange-being-murdered/
Didn't he decorate the wall of his embassy room with ****???Sounds like the act of a sane person that slept in that room every night and spent his days confined to it??
That was an MSM lie to demonize and denigrate him to the American public while they kill him. Nothing new here, I mean hadn't we made the White Helmet heroes for beheading the Christians and Alawites, and Assad the villain for protecting them? Welcome to our Orwellian world guys.
Assange is being made an example of. If you dare to expose the war crimes of the US and UK you will be persecuted and killed.
Durandel - Thank God for RT and Sputnik. What American media will show Nils Melzer, the UN special rapporteur on torture saying in his own words that the Julian Assange case is the worse systematic torture he has seen in 20 years? Instead they will denigrate RT as fake news to keep Americans separate from reality. Watch it and weep. We are the ones doing it.
The story reminds me of Ross Ulbricht of Silkroad or The Pirate Bay guys. Even if they had build a platform, had no connection to the content they were jailed. Like Mark Zuckerberg right?… oh wait it's not a CIA shell funded company. Looking forward to Assange trial. I wonder if it will be the most political and farce trial I will see. Probably yes. It will beat the Nuremberg one
I am keeping my fingers crossed it will not come to extradition. If it does I think that will be a sign that the West no longer has the ability and possibly the wish to protect democratic values. The UN is beginning to make changes in what it says. For a very long time the West was given a pretty free ride and presumed to be the base from which human and civil rights which underpinned democracy were entrenched. With the US's actions towards Venezuela, Iran and towards Assange, this is being overwhelmingly shown not to be the case. The current countries feeling they can identify with the US are those of the extreme right. That in the US this is being supported by both Parties illustrates it is not just a 'Trump' thing. That it has been supported by mainstream journalists until it became clear to them that they would indeed lose their ability to freely report and it would be the end of investigative journalism, illustrates the extent to which journalism in the West has being supporting Corporate Power - I think in the US this came from a deliberate decision prior to the Iraq war just to report what the Government said. It took a little longer in the UK but it most certainly is so now. The intent on charging Assange with anything, never mind Espionage with the possibility of sentencing him to death - and if the will is there to extradite him I believe that the death sentence itself could come into being, clearly indicates the end of liberal democracy in the West and our move towards fascism for the future, all supported by the democratic vote.
It was in this thread I mentioned how the current British Foreign Secretary had dismissed the concerns of the UN over Assange's health, Craig Murray writes that British dismissal of the UN is not a new thing though it tends to go unreported. He speaks in particular about how the previous foreign Secretary Philip Hammond responded to the previous concern of the UN to Britain's collusion with the US to keep Assange interred in the Ecuador Embassy. That is an instance of where the Guardian has changed in recent years. One thing I came to rely on them for was that they would provide facts. They would check these facts and make sure they were facts and if very occasionally they made a mistake they were very quick to make that clear. Differences of values are one thing but not caring about facts is another. Murray goes on to speak of the UK's attitude to International Law https://www.craigmurray.org.uk/archives/2019/06/jeremy-hunt-works-that-rogue-state-status/ So we have the UK and the US, two countries at the forefront of International Law and the UN ignoring it. When we remember that the motivation for bringing these into being was to avoid another catastrophe like WW2 we should be concerned. When we notice they are doing this by threatening investigative journalism which exposes their own wrong doing we should be very scared.
Never heard of such a long detention for breaking bail! Something stinks about this. Justice? Communist styled.
