US election: Trump tells North Carolina voters to vote twice

But he really wasn't. So there's that. We're talking about Trump gaming out a hypothetical that doesn't now exist legally. So there really wasn't an encouragement to break the law.

What you have to assume to make sense of Trump's claim is that nationwide vote-by-mail had been enacted, before his advice would apply. It hasn't been. Ergo Trump, if he wasn't joking, was at the worst talking hypothetically.

The logic is clear on that. Frankly, I think he was just poking fun at the mail-in-voting crowd.

Since the law Trump supposedly asked people to violate hasn't in fact been enacted, then there's no law to break, since his suggestion hinged on nationwide vote-by-mail being the law. You'd have to assume that mail-in-voting had been enacted nationwide first. And it hasn't.

 

But it's so rare so who cares?

Bullshit. Realize that what you described happened AFTER Trump had his bootlicker make insane changes to the USPS which slowed the process and created problems. I'm 73 and I NEVER lost anything in the mail. The USPS was entirely reliable and you know it.

You don't "improve" a situation by creating problems and removing functionality!

Moreover there are methods in place to prevent double voting in the case that a mail in ballot has not been counted when checked at the polls in person.

 

And that was a part of Trump's point, too.

STOP THE BULLSHIT! What you say ISN'T TRUE. We have had vote-by-mail as the only system here in Oregon for 22 years, and the Republicans here try very hard to stop it by "proving" it is fraught with cheating and corruption and fraud, and in 22 years they have NOTHING. Same in Washington.

Are you kidding me. This all began in March. I spoke with my local post master this morning in fact. His name is Patrick.

You know, I ship lots and lots of stuff, own multiple businesses, etc. If I want the worst results, the slowest deliveries, incompetent customer service and lost mail - its the USPS 10:1 over FedEx or UPS. I NEVER ship anything important USPS. EVER!

Well, we know it IS happening because people have been arrested for it, lol. So no, you can't prove it isn't happening, because it does, lol. Basic logic.

The question is how often is it happening, which liberals cannot answer. They claim it isn't widespread, but can't prove this at all.

The logic of it dictates that this is a less secure method of voting, subject to more fraud.

I (who am probably to the right of you on economics) have said that there is no evidence it is widespread. This is a true statement. Feel free to address it one day.

As for your claim about "you can't prove it isn't widespread," this is an intellectually dishonest attempt to shift the burden of proof just because you can't meet it yourself. This would be the equivalent of me saying "Well, you can't prove Trump doesn't eat orphans."

And no, there's no evidence of widespread voter fraud when it comes to mail-in voting either.

Sheesh. More bullshit. It is illegal to vote twice. Trump said "if the system is as good as they say it is then obviously they won't be able to vote (in person)" and you are doubling down on that. But it's bullshit because the poll workers at in-person polling stations don't have a list of those who voted by mail. They don't need it and they won't have it so the whole trump suggestion is not only illegal, but also not based on any factual conditions. The votes will be checked later back in election headquarters according to standard, established procedures. And we have a "president" who is encouraging people to commit crimes that they will pay for! How stupid, how evil, how corrupt, how unfit for the job is your brainless Chief Dope?
