The payouts are getting bigger and bigger for black deaths. But it is not enough because nothing has changed. Police reforms are not enough and none are actually visible to the public. The police culture is driving racism and violence by police against black people. Also, it is evident that police are angered by the adverse publicity from their actions against unarmed black people. The only thing stopping the police from taking out their BLM anger against black people is public attention and media attention to the issue. Nothing is changed unless the violations of police culture of walking while black, driving while black, and talking to police while black are erased from police culture. https://www.yahoo.com/news/multi-million-settlement-reached-breonna-135132622.html
As moving as your post is ---- I mean, I'm like this close to quitting my job, dumping Trump, and rioting with the BLM ---- there's already a post on this. FYI. Yawn.
Why are they getting $12 Million? Why are they getting ANYTHING before the investigation has been concluded.
The sort of training the police indulge themselves in is what led to this $12 million compensation payout. It is cheaper to weed out the racists, bigots, white supremacists, fascists, and KKK members out of the police.
And that $12 million will do wonders to do exactly what you claim. I am sure you will agree, if it saves just one life.
In the story, why is black capitalized? Black is a color, not a race, not a nationality, not a country, not a proper noun. What kind of idiotic message are they trying to send out?
You should check out how many murderers are being released from prison these days and they never gave a crap about saying oops.
What does that have to do with the goal of police reform? I am sure you would agree with the stated goals of the blm, antifa, and Democrat party.
$Billions has not "done wonders". What effect will $12 million have You can't teach an old dog new tricks.
Dopey Donald Trump released a convicted murderer from prison to use him as a prop in his RNC convention flop show.
Besides the clueless cops busted in on a personal house for a warrent for a low level drug dealer who did not live there or visit there, the people who lived all around had not heard any kind of "open up, its the police!" Which is required by the city police proceures. What I think got a quick big settlement to the woman's family was that the other police shot a dozen or two shots into the apartment with windows totally closed, with no clue who these cops shooting AT! Other apartments and houses were in line of fire, that no one else was killed is amazing! Oh, yeah, the woman blood out while cops poked around with no care. $12 million is would be about right if the woman had NOT been killed! Maybe some of our gun rights shooters who feel like shooting out if some group of unknown assailants while shooting INTO your family's home and neighbors, maybe killed your wife or child? I guess you all would just accept an apology? Accept being taken to jail? Watch your household bleeding out unattended? Yeah. I bet.
How much is it for a white person vs a black? I don't even know how they put values on people like that. I wish I could get my family that kind of payout when death comes knocking, but I'm probably only worth a news article that gets forgotten the next day. I'm not the right color to get that kind of publicity.
I pointed out in another thread that innocent Blacks are more likely to be victims because the crime rates where they live tend to be significantly higher, and thus police are responding to many more crimes in that area. ANY TIME any law is enforced, there are going to be mistakes. That's just the nature of human imperfection, in pretty much any system. Some people don't seem to be able to realize this. If you want law enforcement to go in there with guns and kidnap people, it's not always going to get done right, and there will occasionally be tragic mistakes. Maybe WE need to accept some of the responsibility for supporting these laws.
Do you care to explain why the family should get $12M for the death of one of their members? It seems impossible to give the one who was actually wronged in this case the compensation (because they are dead). Why should the family get it? I think the family should get enough money for a decent burial (still pretty expensive), and maybe a little money for some therapy sessions, and then that's it. It seems highly ironic that neither the persons responsible for the wrong, nor the one who was wronged, are actually paying or receiving the money here. And we call this "justice".
In a capitalist society, murder is legitimized by huge payouts in the absence of other punishment of the offenders. Families are compensated for emotional injuries which is a capitalist concept. Get used to it because your taxes will rise to fund these payouts if the 'old dogs' in the police are not taught new tricks or retired.
No amount of money will change things until the people responsible are directly impacted. The taxpayer should not be on the hook because of the negligence of officers — make the officer and the department split the costs — if it bankrupts them, so be it.
Stella Liebeck got over $2m over 30 years ago just because she spilt a takeaway coffee on her lap. She is white. Thousands of more cases like this resulting in massive payouts. The size of the payout is nothing to do with colour. Your post is nonsense. The US is a failed state that really needs to be dismantled and start again before war breakouts
