I'm pleased to bring you today's Political Forum Comic Relief Thread, starring Joe Biden: It's bad enough Biden doesn't know what state he's in half the time, but what's arguably worse is his abject ignorance of the Constitution. Or is he just lying? What makes Biden's statement even more ludicrous is his abject hypocrisy on this matter. In 2016, not only was he fine with Lame Duck Obama nominating Merrick Garland to the SCOTUS, he urged the Senate to hold a vote on Garland's nomination: Evidently, it was "incredibly dangerous" to block Garland's nomination in 2016, but it's not "incredibly dangerous" for the Senate to block Trump's nominee to replace Justice Ginsburg in 2020. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (Hypocrite-NY) has made multiple flip-flops on this himself: Hypocrites in glass houses much? Instead of making blatantly insane statements, perhaps Biden should read Article II Section 2 of the Constitution - you know the thing! - and find out what's involved with the job he is running for: Perhaps, he'll note that there is no exception to this provision for election years...
Granted, it's been four years, but I don't remember Biden calling Obama's attempt to get Merrick Garland seated on the Supreme Court either an "abuse of power" or "constitutional abuse".
Let's look at the bigger picture.... doesn't it seem like by rushing a nominee through Trump and gang arent super confident that they'll win 2020? Why rush it if its gonna be such a "landslide" victory? What's the gain? Also politics and life in general seems to be you reap what you sow see Reid so dont cry when Democrats up the ante the next time because that'll be the road you chose to go down.. Having said that if Republicans have the votes and are fine with the potential consequences go for it
This is why Biden is highly unqualified to be the President. Maybe he needs to read Article II of the Constitution so he will know what the job description entails. He might read Article II Sec. II . I'd print it for him but not sure he could stay awake or has the intelligence to understand it. Do you realize that the majority of posters on this forum are more qualified than he is to be President.
1) wouldn't be rushed...there is plenty of time....RBG only took just over 42 days......O'Conner 33. 2) it's important the Court is 9....especially this year, given the left's promise not to concede under any circumstanes and take this to Court.
There is always the Libertarian Party with Jo Jorgensen for President and Spike Cohen for Vice President.
How can anyone vote for a candidate that is so flipping stupid!!!? A constitutional abuse of power. He is actually doing his job, just as Obama did in nominating Garland. How can people really be this dumb? Biden opens his mouth and all that comes out is gibberish and feces!
In 2016 Trump promised to put conservatives on the Court and this is part of fulfilling that promise. He has nothing to gain from breaking that promise - people despise politicians who don't keep their word. Here's another thing - caving to Democrats has never done Republicans any good. Puhleeze. Obama went down this road in 2016 when he nominated Merrick Garland - there is no precedent being set by Trump and/or the Republicans here.
I don't know of anyone that said that the President nominating someone is an abusive of power....until now...which is odd, because biden said in 2016 Obama should do it...so is Biden now admitting he believed he was instructing Obama to abuse power? What other times did Biden do that? and obviously it sounds like he too would abuse power. Another reason not to vote for Biden
They just can't accept the fact that they lost. They're never going to reach the final stage at this rate.
