I feel sorry for the family, they deserve the money. The rest of it is rubbish, what police culture? That when you're fired upon and one of you is wounded you shoot back? What we need to do is change black culture, so that they obey the laws more, commit less violent crime, don't go crazy when police officers just wish to speak to them and don't resist stop and search as if they're different to everyone else. Because the police in this incident had a legitimate search warrant and they NEVER even saw the shooter or Breonna. So how can this be racist?
Be reasonable, Rob. US cops are too trigger happy. Their philosophy is evidently that 'there is nothing more peaceful than a dead man'.
good for them. Americans have to wake up and stop electing dem mayors that allow their police forces to behave like this.
You're making too much sense You're right, it's "black culture" which needs to change infinitely more than "police culture". Folks would rarely ever have to interact with law enforcement at all if they weren't breaking the law. Go figure. Imagine that ---- instead of wanting the police to handle criminals with kid gloves, how about encouraging the criminals to obey the laws instead. But that approach is just too damn logical and requires personal responsibility, so it's not going to be real popular with the BLM's false narrative and the liberals' victim mindset.
There’s nothing to do with BLM, antifa or the Democrat party. Cities have been paying out large sums for wrongful deaths long before they came around.
Nothing has changed as police shootings of unarmed blacks are still vanishingly rare. Reforming police doesn't have any meaning. It is individuals who do the shooting not "the police." These rare things happen for whatever reason but the reason is always personal, not systemic. BS opinion. Pure nonsense. The change you want is timid, ineffective policing. That will change a lot of things, none of them good. By the way, I think the lawsuit was indicated and appropriate. Whether Ms Taylor was a drug dealer or not, her death should not have happened.
The family of that White lady who was killed by the Black policemen in Minnesota received 20 million dollars. And her family deserved it. Breonna's family deserves the settlement they are to receive also.
I'm very reasonable, you should try it, these officers were fired upon, one of them was shot and they returned fire. How is that trigger happy?
Sarcasm Of course I'm against BLM, Antifa, divisive false narratives, rioting, looting, anti-American sentiment, anti-police sentiment.......should I keep going?
Nothing has changed because it’s a statistical anomaly, those will always exist. These incidents are being used to spread fake narratives about the police
Hahahaha yea good luck getting money from a guy who makes 50k a year, and in the case they are convicted they make none lmao. And where do you think the department gets its money? lmao makes no sense
Some officers make over 200k a year through manipulating the department’s rules. I don’t know where you live but in my smallish town they make close to 70k. As for where we get the money? Make the police have professional insurance like most professions have. If they don’t then we seize their assets and garnish their future wages. Just because you don’t understand how debts and suits are collected doesn’t mean “lmao makes no sense”.
It absolutely makes zero sense. Even 70k is nothing when compared to the massive debts each would incur, they would never be able to pay it off. Their “insurance’ would never work, it wouldn’t profitable in this cop hating time, unless the standard was set so high most could never hope to prove wrong doing enough to get that W which defeats the purpose. Simply because you dont know how business works, doesn’t mean its silly to point out the objective fact the idea of taking it from the officers makes no sense.
And then you don't get to make the family look like greedy pigs - taking the compensation instead of having that money reinvested in police training!
I own two businesses, the taxpayer does not support me when my employees or I make a mistake — my insurance does. My income is irrelevant, only my limits. It doesn’t matter if people hate cops, fault matters — nothing less, nothing more. Insurance companies do not settle if there is no negligence. Why do you feel the taxpayer should pay for the illegal actions of police officers? Do you share the same narrative with other government workers?
You also don’t do a job that has the amount of hate and ignorance attacking you as officers do. People don’t posses the capability to reasonably and competently determine fault. don’t get me wrong, if it could be done I’d support it but I think it would be profitable to even serve its purpose. Unless you over charged the hell out of officers yo make it profitable which I don’t support.
That is why independent insurance agents and state boards would do so. I am not worried about profits, it would have the simultaneous effect of impacting the officer directly and officers that have to many paid claims against them would not be able to hold employment.
Profits matter or it wouldn't exist at all. Love nor justice make teh world go round, profits do. But hey, mabye one day that will happen and mabye it will work.
Why do they deserve $12M dollars, what monetary loss have they suffered? Fine the department $12M and apply it to better police training to benefit the entire community, wouldn't that be a better idea? Is the $12M going to bring her back to the family? Why should the taxpayers now make them all wealthy?
