Let's toss the entire rant against Soros in the garbage, and try to talk about what is real. After WW2, we came up with a really good arrangement that is called Bretton Woods. It was brilliant, and created orderly international economics. We spent too much on the empire, and there was a run on our gold reserves. That was Bretton Woods punishing a country for being stupid. What happened next is Nixon took us off the gold standard, effectively killing Bretton Woods. This is not to endorse the gold standard, we would have gone off eventually because the economy would be getting too big for it. But the timing... After WW2 we tried to use business to bring countries together in a peaceful partnership. That's why we developed Bretton Woods. This made international finance of growing importance. So.. when we went off Bretton Woods, international finance went back to being the Wild West. Which made guys like Soros possible. One of the things Soros has talked about many times is the need for regulation. He would like a more orderly arrangement. And yes, the part of Bretton Woods that punished bad actors, part of what he does serves that function. So. The extreme Right might be a bunch of kooks, and they are pretty much entirely wrong. But while they can't talk about the real challenges that face us, international finance is one of those challenges. But Soros didn't do it... We did it to ourselves.
Your serious post didn't address the serious bucks Soros has spent on promoting socialism. I suppose that isn't reality, huh?
Good question, I have no idea. We had a rash of whinging about Soros, and I wanted to talk about the way I look at it.
He doesn't care a whit for the quality of life of Americans. His only interest is in replacing their government. So no, I don't mean that.
