So let the battle begin. Judge Barrett is a conservative and will replace the liberal Ruth Ginsberg. Pres. Trump wants to have a new judge in place before the election because the outcome might end up in the Supreme Court. Unlike liberal judges who try to legislate from the bench, Judge Barrett will strictly uphold the Constitution and judge cases according to the existent Congressional legislation, rather than interpret the laws in whichever way she wants. So far Trump seems to have the necessary support to get her on the Supreme Court before the election, but the Democrats are freaking out so who knows what they will do. The president made the announcement with Barrett at his side in a Rose Garden ceremony on Saturday. He praised her legal background, saying she is "eminently qualified for the job." Barrett will decide cases "based on the text of the constitution, as written," he said. Donald Trump has selected Judge Amy Coney Barrett as his nominee to the US Supreme Court to fill the seat left vacant following the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg. Trump vowed last week that he would nominate a woman for the vacancy within a week, saying he had an “obligation” to act without delay. I have some thoughts. The left says this is a display of raw political power on the part of McConnell. Of course it is. It is what politicians do. The left says it is hypocritical that McConnell is happy to push her nomination through after blocking Garland. No doubt about it. We all expect hypocrisy from politicians. The left says she would vote against the ACA and abortion because of her religion. I don't know. Perhaps she would. But her religion is the same as that of Biden, Pelosi and Justice Sotomayor. justice Ginsberg said her Jewish faith guided her in many decisions. It is what it is. The real problem, of course, is that she is a conservative and the liberals fear that more than they fear wild fires in California. One would expect a conservative president to nominate a conservative justice. She is qualified and will be confirmed. It is what it is.
They are attacking her qualifications and experience, as Kagin is off in the distance whistling to herself because she never sat on a bench before the SCOTUS.
I don't think they can get anywhere with attacking her qualifications and experience. She is currently a judge in the appeals court down just one level from the supreme court. She has a very strong record as a lawyer. They had better stick with the ACA and abortion. it won't change anything but it will appeal to the base.
They've attacked her for adopting Haitian kids, they will attack her every which way and practically run a train on her reputation before theyre done.
the Democrat party after all is "the big tent party" and has no place for hatred...............right?
While I am a passionate supporter of legal abortions, I find the legal reasoning of the Roe v Wade decision completely ridiculous. The most likely scenario if Roe v Wade were overturned is that a constitutional amendment would follow soon thereafter explicitly enshrining either a right to privacy or a right to abortion. As it is abortion has majority opposition in only 7 states, but it takes 13 to veto an amendment.
And she embodies female empowerment that so-called feminists claim to strive for. But because she is against abortion and doesn't whine about being a victim and rejects their rigid dogma they hate her.
She is most certainly unsuitable for the position. Barrett is a member of the "People of Praise" cult; her commitment to Christ's 2nd Coming is above her commitment to the Constitution.
Her world view is based on Conservative religious mythology which is manifest in a conflict between the liberal and conservative branches of the catholic church; the Pope himself belongs to the 'liberal' branch, which is why he rejected a meeting with Pompeo recently. Re abortion: until Conservatives prove their 'pro-life' credentials by providing state-support for unwanted pregnancies, their 'pro-life' stance is empty rhetoric.
In everything! You're forgetting that the Constitution which she will swear to uphold, is based on that so called 'religious mythology' The Pope didn't meet with Pompeo because of China. You're setting terms on God?
