Howdy So, the U.S. presidential elections are only a month away. Simple question here: Should illegal immigrants (aka illegal aliens) in the U.S. have the right to vote? I'll tell my opinion later on to avoid biasing the poll. You're on.
If you're against Russians interfering with our elections then the answer here should be obvious. No one but citizens should vote to avoid the same reasons that one would be against Russians interfering.
They deserve one thing, decent lodging until deportation. I dont hate on them or blame them, if I was born a poor Mexican and I knew you could make a King's ransom for manual labor in the USA I'd swim the Rio Grande too! I blame both sides for generations of failure to act on this issue.
It depends on why they're not legal immigrants. I don't think there's any good reason to deny someone the right to live here peacefully save contagious sickness or criminal status. We are the world's main refuge for people who aren't doing that well where they are, the domain of the second (or first) chance. It made us what we are and will continue to do so, but only so long as we let it.
Sorry, I must have got you wrong. But I have heard bad things about voting in America. Like this one, for example. https://townhall.com/columnists/rac...mmigrants-counted-in-the-2020-census-n2549631
Your source says they can't vote: "In reality, the House bill known as H.R. 1 would not legally allow non-citizens to vote in the United States. The legislation included a raft of measures intended to prevent foreign interference in elections, reform campaign finance and enhance the protection of voting rights, among other measures. So it is false to claim that the Democrat House majority, in passing H.R. 1, had voted in favor of electoral rights for immigrants, whether documented or undocumented."
So you saying facts that illegals vote in some places is BS? Why would you call me a liar when you know it's true
Because the implication you are trying to make, that this is a serious problem, has precisely nothing to do with the real world. As the director of the FBI said just the other day, we've never seen a coordinated effort to cheat in a presidential election.
It's back in the fridge. It seems there is no smoke without the fire though. https://thehill.com/opinion/judiciary/416225-the-truth-about-illegal-voting
That article hinges on research, but when I click on the link, nothing. 404 not found... Republicans are constantly screwing with voting. They have been in court many times, and lost many times. And there is no evidence that this is a big deal that I know of. If there were, we'd never hear the end of it.
I probably have unorthodox opinions on this. In general I tend to think that all residents should have the right to vote. To operate otherwise is to engage in taxation without representation (beyond things like sales tax). Illegal immigrants / aliens present a significant problem to this as there is no way to prove they are in fact a resident. I would theoretically be of the opinion that they should have the right to vote. In practice, I do not see a way it could be done. This does put me opposed to the most popular answer of "no, because they are not US citizens". Someone who is a permanent resident of another country is more impacted by that nation's laws than their nation of origin. It would make practical sense that a permanent resident would have as much at stake in the laws that govern themselves on a day to day basis as the other citizenry.
They push for streamlining legal immigration and giving law abiding (aside from the nominator trespass thing) illegals a path to legal status. But giving illegals the vote? Good luck finding that on the party platform.
Illegal aliens shouldn't even BE in this country in the first place! What kind of brain-dead, America-hating moron could possibly imagine that illegal aliens should have the right (the RIGHT?) to vote in our elections...?! The only thing that any and ALL "illegal aliens" should have a 'right' to is being taken to the nearest border crossing and then being told to get the hell out and NEVER come back....
I am fine with them voting in local elections. Don't support them voting in state or national elections.
