First off the title is very misleading. The general never used a racial slur. How can junior Marines have so much power over a general is beyond me. The two-star U.S. Marine Corps general in charge of all Marines in Europe and Africa has been relieved of command following an investigation into his alleged use of a racial slur, according to a U.S. official. According to an updated Stars and Stripes article published on Tuesday, Neary was at an outdoor physical training event for Marines at his headquarters where music was being played over loudspeakers. A witness to the incident told Stripes that after hearing some of the musical artists use a racial slur, Neary asked junior Marines nearby how they would feel if he used the word. The witness told Stars and Stripes that his comment stunned the young Marines who said that even if Neary "was attempting to be instructive about the taboo nature of the word, it came as a shock to hear it from a white general officer." https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/top...ed-investigated-racial-slur/story?id=73717785
Think you need to dig a little deeper there, chief... Go to the source article... SNIP A lance corporal who was present told Stars and Stripes that Neary used the N-word while Marines were doing physical training outdoors with loud music playing. The Marine, who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of retribution, said Black, white and Latino Marines were jolted when the general said the word. Even if Neary was attempting to be instructive about the taboo nature of the word, it came as a shock to hear it from a white general officer, the lance corporal said. As the weeks passed and Neary remained in command, several Marines brought the matter to the attention of Stars and Stripes. In addition, generals and admirals cannot make any mistakes, that is the nature of their business. Any little hiccup in their career and they can be kicked out.
There is NOTHING racist about saying the word in an informative or educational way like quoting someone or citing historical reference. It’s ONLY racist if its used in a malicious way against people. Obviously it’s hard to hear but context matters. If the word itself is racist then ANYONE uttering it would be racist. Yet millions of black people say it every day. It’s about context.
I agree with this 100%. But since generals are a dime a dozen they are easily replaced if the violate the PC code.
Came as a shock??? Bull ****ing ****. Anyone who has ever been in the military knows that we found very little to be shocking. When you're putting bullets in people, you realize how stupid it is to worry about words. These punks wanted this general removed, and were using PC culture as a weapon to get it done. I think the general should be applauded for his actions, not removed. The punks who tried to sink this general's career should be reprimanded and scrubbing pots and pans for a month. I hated the EO classes we constantly had to attend. Boring as ****, pointless, and kept us from doing real training. Plus, it is apparently turning everyone into a bunch of sissies with skin thinner than paper.
So let me get this right. A bunch of Marines were listening to loud music containing a racial slur, as most rap music does, the general asked how they'd feel if he used that word, and the person in the wrong is the general. What an idiotic world we live in.
Seems to be the gist of the story... although the general apparently worked the word in there, wasn't just speculating on if he would use it.... Personally, I think the Marines should work out to more manly tunes, like YMCA and Macho Man You think Trump has ANY idea those are essentially gay anthems?? I don't....
I don't think he should necessarily be applauded here, but I personally feel it shouldn't be 100% taboo to discuss using the word, without actually using the word. Both sides might have learned something. But it's almost worth it to watch all the panties tightening up on here..
So what if he did. Asking why his Marines are listening to a specific racial slur is a valid question. Racial slurs are apparently fine, as long as certain races don't repeat what they're actively hearing. Why would he care if they're "gay anthems" whatever that is.
I guess you are right.. why care now......he should be fully used to people laughing at him... Example.... last night at rally in Erie Pa (the armpit of the universe come deep winter), he made this line - "And in conclusion, we'll make this a little shorter, you know it's about 40 degrees, I don't want to lose anybody,"
This is coordinated effort to replace the top brass with the same kind of people that have taken over the universities and school systems. They want the guns to be on their side should they need them. He will of course be replaced by a woman of color who is down with critical race theory. The same rules should apply to everybody. Any person (no matter their race) should be expelled from the force for using the n-word. Any person (no matter their race) caught listening to music that uses the n-word should be expelled from the force. That will never happen because it is fair. This entire game where certain people can use certain words is designed for one purpose... to remove people from power whose political beliefs are moderate or conservative. This is how you replace meritocracy with ideology. It is frankly the most breathtakingly effective strategy ever devised and appears to be unstoppable.
Eh. I think we are at a point in our lives where white people don't need to say that word. We have used it enough and I'm good with it being strike from non-black vocabs. If they want to instruct or have a discussion, n-word seems to be a sufficient way to communicate. One would realize that at this point, using the word likely comes with significant consequences.
Note to the Taliban, Isis, and assorted enemies of America; if confronted with American troops on the battlefield continuously blast the N-word from loudspeakers, this will cause them to immediately drop, curling into fetal position while sucking their thumbs and crying for mommy.
if they said "it came as a shock to hear it from a white general officer.", then that too is racist as would it be any different if the general was black I do agree though, ban music that has words some people are offended by, you can't just say were only offended if your white if the words offend someone if a white person says it, it should offend them if a black person says it I am, offended if someone uses the n-word regardless of their race
marines should be hiring and firing generals based on war fighting capability, not based on how PC they are. I think it is ridiculous to say “n” word instead of n*gger. I think it’s silly I even need to censor it here. If it is being discussed, and not directed as an insult against somebody, why not just say it? Seems very childish. I can picture a bunch of school kids covering their mouths pointing, saying “oooooooo, you’re in trouble!”. So silly.
