The left loves to vilify America for slavery in it's history while simultaneously deriding Trump for tarrifs on China. They either don't know about slavery in China or don't care. CNN)Thousands of North Korean women and girls are being trafficked and sold into sexual slavery in China, where many are sold as wives to Chinese men while others are forced into prostitution or to live stream sex acts against their will, a new report claims. The investigation, by the London-based Korea Future Initiative (KFI), includes shocking first-hand reports of girls as young as 12 being raped and women being forced to participate in cybersex for days without eating. Though female defectors have long been targets of human traffickers, the problem has been exacerbated in recent years due to what the reports claims is a spike in demand inside of China. https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/21/asia/north-korea-sex-slavery-report-intl/index.html
You should report this. I'm sure the Q-mains will be fascinated. However, how have Trump's tariffs, which have turned midwestern farmers into welfare queens served to ameliorate even one of the complaints you're brining? JUST ONE!?!?!? That's right, nothing Trump has done achieves even a tiny reduction in those complaints, in fact, it can be argued, that driving people in slave labor would be exacerbated by the tariffs as they would drive poverty up.
Tariffs have nothing to do with slavery and Trump couldn't care less about Chinese slaves. He's more than happy to do business with Chinese companies, personally and on behalf of the US government. His sole motive is making the most profit.
The slavery in question is those from NK who escaped into china and are then sold as slaves. Now that you know the actual issue you may want to try again.
And what about you and other liberals who denounce America for slavery in it's past? Why do you support doing business as usual with China that still has slavery?
I'm not a liberal, I don't denounce America for it's slavery past and I don't support doing "business as usual" with China. Do you have anything to say about what I posted rather than what you assumed I am?
OK your a Trump hater that wants to denounce Trump for his China policies and tarrifs and return to business as usual with this slave state. Better?
IMPORT TARIFFS are not paid by CHINA, they are paid by the AMERICAN consumers who buy the imported products from China.
"But wait, there's more" "The ASPI estimates that up to 80,000 Uighurs have been forced into labor camps this way, some of them directly after finishing their indoctrination at Chinese re-education centers. The report includes three case studies focused on factories producing goods for Nike, Adidas/Fila, and Apple. A total of 83 companies have been identified as benefiting from these practices: Abercrombie & Fitch, Acer, Adidas, Alstom, Amazon, Apple, ASUS, BAIC Motor, BMW, Bombardier, Bosch, BYD, Calvin Klein, Candy, Carter’s, Cerruti 1881, Changan Automobile, Cisco, CRRC, Dell, Electrolux, Fila, Founder Group, GAC Group (automobiles), Gap, Geely Auto, General Electric, General Motors, Google, H&M, Haier, Hart Schaffner Marx, Hisense, Hitachi, HP, HTC, Huawei, iFlyTek, Jack & Jones, Jaguar, Japan Display Inc., L.L.Bean, Lacoste, Land Rover, Lenovo, LG, Li-Ning, Mayor, Meizu, Mercedes-Benz, MG, Microsoft, Mitsubishi, Mitsumi, Nike, Nintendo, Nokia, The North Face, Oculus, Oppo, Panasonic, Polo Ralph Lauren, Puma, Roewe, SAIC Motor, Samsung, SGMW, Sharp, Siemens, Skechers, Sony, TDK, Tommy Hilfiger, Toshiba, Tsinghua Tongfang, Uniqlo, Victoria’s Secret, Vivo, Volkswagen, Xiaomi, Zara, Zegna, and ZTE. https://www.extremetech.com/extreme...-forced-labor-to-benefit-apple-foxconn-others
No, I'm trying to discuss what you pretended the topic of the thread was but you just want to spout your bile and hatred at the warped stereotypes you have of anyone who doesn't bow down and worship you for your amazing insights. And you still couldn't care less about Chinese slaves.
Umm...Trump gave his blessing to Xi’s forced labor detention camps in Xinjiang. He admitted it. He didn’t want to sanction China during his trade negotiation. He also pulled the funding on project that tracked Chinese troop movement to aid our side in Hong Kong. Sex trafficking? Trump hate? It’s simply our ugly reality. In short, everything is transactional. There isn’t a line that can’t be crossed in pursuit of a perceived goal. It’s hard to stomach the depth we’ve fallen.
Its not about slavery, but inequality. Whats happening is a push to enslave everyone to eachother. 'Equally.' ...because thats different. Somehow.
Remind us again who has admitted to a secret multi-million dollar bank account in China, and paying almost $200,000 in taxes to support the Chi-Com dictatorship while his daughter owns multiple Chinese trademarks?
I guess we should ask then, what is Trump's secrete Chinese account is for? why does he need that much secrete money in China.... what is he buying?
No, that tired old trope won't hunt. CONSERVATIVES were the backers of slavery. They lost. In the end, they always lose, like real life Wyle E. Coyotes...
And a large part of their R.& D. is accomplished through cyber theft. We should never have given China permanent Most Favored Nation Status (MFN) as we did in 2001, when they joined the WTO (which organization I have separate complaints with). This is something we should have done yearly or bi-annually, & w/ certain gradually-implemented, but enforced, conditions for their retaining that status. Though the timing was probably just a coincidence, I wonder if our need for financing as we prepared to go on our Middle Eastern warpath could have played any part in supporting China's inclusion in the WTO, which pretty much assured being granted MFN status. But, regardless, China's violations just w/ respect to trade (& that includes the lack of regulation which has allowed all manner of substandard materials to be misrepresented & sold here-- from a plastic meant for surgical mesh that was unsafe for internal use, to inferior building materials that were, "certified," as hurricane-safe, to poison-contaminated pet foods, to lead-painted children's toys-- as well as major copyright infringement, etc.) should have meant action through the WTO. Either the various administrations who've led our government the past 19 years have not made adequate use of the WTO's arbitration panels-- for which we have given up some of our freedom to have elected officials making the decisions that affect us, instead of the WTO's anonymous juries of business leaders-- or else those WTO panels have been ineffective in their verdicts at convincing China that it pays to play by the rules. What all this has to do with slavery in American history, I'm not really sure. But you brought up China, so I weighed-in. And, I will note that, though you seem ready to condemn China, you've ventured no verdict on American slavery (or its prejudicial & segregated aftermath). To condemn those things would give consistency to your argument. Otherwise we can only try to read between the lines, & I got the impression that your OP was more about, "liberals," being consistent in condemning China, than having anything to do with your own appraisals of these things. Are you saying that it's OK for someone to not call out America's slave history as wrong (at least as seen from our current perspective) as long as one offers no condemnations of similar practices still ongoing?
This would be same Trump who has his clothing line and MAGA hats made in China? The same Trump who has paid more taxes in China (which support the Chinese government) than 99% of Democrats? WTF dude.
Using your logic I propose the following: If slavery exists in China If President Trump knows that it exists If he hasn't spoken or acted against it President Trump must approve of slavery.
Yet you and other liberals demand tariffs be dropped and we do as much business as possible with this slave state as you simultaneously bash America for having slavery generations ago.
