I know that virtually everyone has discredited Buzzfeed. But still, this is so laughable that it has to be shown to everyone here. https://www.buzzfeednews.com/articl...after-trump?bftwnews&utm_term=4ldqpgc#4ldqpgc Ooh, yet a new "white supremacist group"(I found this via twitter.). And in the article they painstakingly go through great pains to paint this as some big threat. So, is it 500 members? 1,000? 1,500? Maybe 2,000? Or even 5,000 or 10,000 or 15,000 or a 1 million? NO, 280. This is what for example the FBI has wasted its time on all summer, it's why they parade a couple of these things to say "See, look, it's a threat." And ooh, they post a bunch of internet messages, we've got to save the country from this evil threat! I point this out, to highlight the absurdity because the absurdity has to be laughed at and ridiculed, lest it get accepted into the public sphere of thought. And those 280? Was it a matter of days? Weeks? Months? A year? No, THREE years. Maybe they might reach 500 in about 7 1/2 years at a simple multiplication rate(presuming of course they actually double which is laughable.) The reason I rail against this, is not to support these racist supremacists. It's to point out that while you're screaming the hilltops for these types, the terrorists who attacked us 19 years ago are still very relevant and planning. Nation-actors are planning. Hell, even 'lone wolves' are planning. Stop looking at the tiny, irrelevant ants and start looking at the big problems. Otherwise we'll be missing a lot in our national security objectives.
It's not about a 'magic number', it's about the significance of the threat. Which is virtually nonexistent. By making a problem bigger than it is, you miss problems that are really big and important. I want us to focus on big and important problems and leave small problems to local authorities.
Are you white? Are you in a group? Then you are part of a white supremacist group. It's that simple. Hell, let's just toss out the "group" part, why not? Are you white? Then... We live in a country where one "side" sees no sarcasm in the above and nothing wrong with the sentiment whatsoever.
Again, what is your magic number? Are 280 white supremacists not a threat, but 300 are? You threw some numbers around. Is 500 your magic number? What about criminal enterprises? Are "small business" criminal enterprises insignificant threats? My magic number is 1. One white supremacist is too many in my book.
Somebody better call the FBI to keep an eye on my local Garden Club. Who knows how much terror they could rain down on us with their sunhats and pruning sheers.
And exactly how many were involved in the plot to kidnap and possibly kill the Michigan governor while plotting to blow up bridges. Doesn't take that many to cause chaos and mayhem. How many did the Las Vegas shooter kill and wound???
I threw them all around because all of them(even the 1 million number) is not even 1% of our country. I would say that a country that has all but utterly obliterated 'white supremacy' doesn't need to fret over not even a fringe, but a size so small it can't even be called an ant colony.
It took fewer than two dozen people to execute the 9/11 attacks. 250+ focused crazies is a problem, no matter how much you might want to dismiss them.
You realize this is just one group? And you are familiar with the term 1%er in the biker world? (Outlaw bikers) I'm not sure what percentages and numbers have to do with white supremacy. 280 white supremacists can do a lot of damage.
Call me when these tinpots are able to organize politically, have access to massive funds and able to pinpoint and hijack vulnerabilities in our country. The point is, it's an absolutely small and insignificant problem made to be highlighted because of an election.
So you don't care if they, just picking something out of the blue, try to kidnap a governor or blow up a bridge? You only want to know when they actually succeed with a terror attack?
If you’re under the delusion there’s one group you might want to study the data before coming to such a ridiculous conclusion.
I'm still astounded how fast that guy and his possible motives just went "poof" and disappeared. Maybe just your garden variety psycho but still....
Whether something is significant isn't determined by solely by numbers. Significance may have nothing to do with numbers, which is the case here. The significance of white supremacy is in race based hatred. How many "members" there are is irrelevant.
