On a related note... Per usual, the "victim" is a complete piece of **** with a documented propensity for violence. Chalk another one up for the good guys.
He had a knife and was refusing orders to put it down and he circled the car and came at the officers. The question here is what are we going to do about the crime that perheates these black communities? It's not a police problem it is a black crime problem. Don't engage in crime, if you do and the police attempt to arrest you do not resist. If you are truly innocent comply with the arrest and get it straightened out at the police station or court, don't resist.
I'm sitting here burning watching it live. They are just casually walking in and out taking whatever they want loading up their cars and every appearance that HEY it's if we can take then it's ours" no sign on any respect for the law or other people's property. The question remains what are we going to about these black communities which have no respect of the law or civil behavior and other people. We just had a major hurricane here, did people run out and start looting the stores? NO of course not. I would feel horrible about myself if I was that kind of person.
The number of bullets has nothing to do it, they fire until they put you down if you are threatening them with a lethal weapon. Why don't you speak out against the criminal and the crime? He caused his own death.
Oh get off it, took 2 seconds on Google German police kill man who approached them with knife BERLIN -- Police in western Germany shot and killed a 37-year-old man who allegedly tried to attack them with a knife, the German news agency dpa reported Monday. https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/german-police-kill-man-approached-knife-68090742 Knife-wielding man accused of beheading teacher is shot by police in Paris suburb https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/worl...is-shot-by-police-in-paris-suburb/ar-BB1a6CDh
If you do not have a reason to kill you cannot shoot a gun. If you have reason to shoot you have reason to kill and shoot to do so
They don't carry Tasers on that police force and you shot until he drops, this man caused his own death why are you defending the criminal here? And no you don't take on a knife welding criminal in hand to hand combat with baton. You shoot him and put him down.
He was coming at them with the knife which he refused to drop, why are you defending this criminal? Don't go at the police, he came running around the car, with a knife DUH. They will shoot you DUH. They don't have to wait until the criminal is standing over them with the knife raised.
Cops showed up, they scattered like rats, cops left, they came right back. Look at all those TVs. Justice! Lol
Aha, ok, my popup blocker probably interfered. My bad. Ty. I'll have to get bored before I actually go back and look now because honestly I'm firmly in the camp of "don't walk towards two pistols with a knife" it can only lead to bad things. In a perfect nobody gets shot but in a perfect world nobody comes after you with a knife either. Maybe hindsight one grabs pistol other grabs taser and shoots first with mr 9mm as backup. Not having studied the tape it's more of a general question on ROE.
If that's true, you don't see a problem with that?? The only options they have for dealing with a situation is either shoot to kill or do nothing. No wonder the rate of police killings in the US is comparable to that of third world countries... For the umpteenth time, he was NOT "coming at them", and anyone with a shred of honesty who watched the video can see that. It's just the good old "he's coming right for us" defense. Where did I defend that criminal? You got any more strawmen? I said killing this guy looks really wrong. Are you implying that killing anyone who broke the law is ok?? I already addressed that. Again, he stopped running way before the cops shot him. If they shot him while he was running towards them I would understand. But that's not what happened. You don't have to wait until he's on you, but you do have to wait until he actually makes a move to attack someone. Which he didn't.
I complete agree but do you think that officer should shot to immobilise rather than kill? I absolutely think he deserved to be shot but I heard like 7 or 8 rounds which to me is overkill (pardon the pun)
Seems the City of Philadelphia didn't provide the police with non-lethal weapons. "Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said at a news conference Tuesday that she was still reviewing when and what information would be released to the public. The officers had not been interviewed as of Tuesday afternoon, she said. Neither had a Taser or similar device at the time of the shooting, Outlaw said, noting the department had previously asked for funding to equip more officers with those devices." https://www.chron.com/news/amp/Protests-flare-in-Philadelphia-after-police-kill-15678050.php
So is brandishing a knife and walking towards the citizens who were all along the street, hiding behind cars ect, which the man had done several times. Had the man stuck anyone the police would've been blamed. Tough call, do you risk the man stabbing a pedestrian the next time he walks back between the cars? Can't shoot him over there, no clear shot, people all behind the cars and along the sidewalk. No non-lethal tools were provided by the lawmakers. No longer term beds for those in crisis were funded by the lawmakers. Hummmm. Seems maybe the anger should be toward City leadership, they failed here. Sillyness
Yes, that's the source of the problem here imo. Of course if the only thing you have is a gun, shooting that guy is the only thing you can do in the end...although I still don't like the circumstances in which they did it.
The Waco kid could have simply shot the knife out of his hand. Or maybe Waco kid #2 shoots his shoelaces, which causes them to unravel, get tangled up and trip the bad guy, thereby incapicating him without violence. Personally I like #2, it gives the arrest more pizazz.
