BBC headline has it ... No 10 argued there was "no point" in discussions continuing next week unless the EU was prepared to discuss the detailed legal text of a partnership. so... ...well it has been a bit quiet round this end of the board....
I see your leader Krankie is moaning like a bitch in heat, she needs to realise we have left the EU back on Jan 31st and accept it... We could always trade of Scotland for a deal with the EU and the Taffy's too...
my leader...!!??........bloody woman needs to do the world a favour and tuck her head up her arse.....
The UK is screwing itself, by being a complete idiot. With a possible government change in US, could go a possible free trade agreement. Good Friday agreement.
aye well...with the money the government is pissing away on this covid stuff the UK is pretty well fcuked for the next 10 years anyway....trade agreements...pah...I say.... pah I quite like that....pah.... brexit....pah.... covid....pah... poverty...pah...
At least we have a viable opposition party now. Booted Comrade Corbyn out of the Labour party today. Starmer might drag them back towards the centre and make them actually electable again. Not that I've ever voted for them but I'm not a fan of the one party state like we've had for the last 10 years.
well...d'ya think? What we need is someone to actually make Government relevant rather then trying to be mummy to us all. It's getting to the point where instead of people actually trying to do things for themselves all they do is just shrug their shoulders and ask mummy for a handout or whine at the situation and ask mummy how to solve it. Ultimately government becomes simply a euphemism for knee jerk reactions to news-cycles rather than...what.... an executive body charged with planning for and creating, amongst other things, future opportunity or defending our freedoms or maintaining order. Do you actually think that there is a difference between "tory" and "labour"...I mean really...? To me its just two sets of people that are faffing around with the same bullshit issues and just tinkering with them a bit here and a bit there and not actually achieving anything of substance. This center ground is a great soundbite as it makes them sound like they have different ideas whereas all they are doing is conning the voter because they become constrained into virtual inactivity so as not to lose this utopian "center" ground..... meh....what the fuk do I know.....
No, I'm pretty sure there's no difference between them. I vote Green. I'd like them both to get back to the centre rather than further from it though. Corbyn was a disaster and I suspect Boris will continue to be one. Might be time to sell up and buy a small Chateau in France. Oh bugger, can't even do that now.
yeah...well...you can but you'd need a certificate to visit it.. Only one Jeremy Corby....they chanted and chanted.... Corbyn was the saviour of the party! He was the messiah! Caiaphas and Pilate are now puerile cant and hyperbole. Its amazing how those that have been in their party for generations suddenly reveal themselves when the mood music and opportunity is right....read Weinstein and sexual harassement... I couldn't stand Corbyn but at least he stood for something. You knew what you were getting and he revitialised a moribund party. Stammer....nah.....just a Cameron with a title...a dilletante with a red rose. why?
Because the far left and the far right are dangerous crackpots. Farage makes my skin crawl. He's a Poundland Donald Trump. Same with JRM. He's like a contestant in Monty Python's upper class twit of the year. And then you have the Corbynites wanting to drag us back to the failed policies of the 1970s. I'd rather have John Major or Tony Blair back than any of these clowns. Should have picked Rory Stewart when they had the chance.
Why? What is wrong with having an idea away from the center - let's not get bogged down with foaming mouth racists or crap like that; they represent a fraction of a % and need to be taken out and dog fuked. Are we now so conditioned that anything that does not fit in with the media's idea of a centerist policy mean that its automatically dangerous? The NHS for example anyone thinks of modernising it and the earth opens and swallows them up. Its a shame that politicians are afraid of pushing back on what their realm of influence actually is - I mean do we all need mummy all the time? I mean greens are extreme in their view of the world - they pretty much disagree with the way the world is run and want drastic changes that will impact our everyday lives. We may not vote for them but not many (probably nobody) in the media dares to brand them as fanatics or extremists. Greta Thunberg stands in front of politicians who almost worship her in public without thinking that she is just a shrill emotional teenager without anything real to say - in fact because people give her "extreme" views the oxygen she is causing incredible real world damage. Perhaps Geta thunberg should get the racists treatment....perception of reality I guess..?? They proved very popular and if...if Corbyn had had a properly rehearsed argument for brexit perhaps he could have won the election. I think the center ground is the political version of snake oil. It means you're trying to con voters into thinking that they are the only ones that understand everyone. And they are the only ones worth listening to because they represent all views. Drink me up and I'll cure everything. Nah for me that's a huge con trick.
It's more about pragmatism over idealism. Moving away from partisanship and division. We don't want to end up like America do we?
I agree it is. The grab for power in order to satiate self-aggrandisment? It's an interesting thought. But I think that American political dynamics are totally different from the UK; there is really no common ground to compare. They have the problem of a constitution which provides some pretty weird philosophical challenges within a political framework which we just don't have. Although we speak the same language we are culturally totally different. Perhaps we would be a better country if we did have a constitution? A constitution which laid down a framework of what government can and cannot do one that reflects the democratic principles so far enshrined within our society but without the overstretch into our private lives? Maybe we do want to be like America; in that we have a written constitution over a parliamentary system which provides systemic protections rather than governing through news cycles and event led knee jerk policies?
We do have a written Constitution. It's just not codified or completely rigid like the American one. I'd rather the system we have with a constantly evolving Constitution than one from the 18th century which is totally out of date in places.
I really doubt they will be able to resolve the fisheries issues before the end of the year. I really don't see why the EU isn't willing to do a separate framework for that to help get the ink on the paper for everything else. Guess they want to tank a deal so they can get some short-term tariff money to offset COVID losses in the EU. IDK. I think England is squarely on the right side of being able to control its waterways though.
Most of the fish caught in British waters is consumed in Europe. Britain isn't getting easy access to EU markets without compromising over who fishes in UK waters.
The issue is about establishing quotas for how much EU boats i.e. french ones can haul from British waters every year.
That's what I said. It's such a tiny, tiny part of GDP and so few jobs it shouldn't be the main stumbling block for a trade deal with the EU. It has more to do with nationalism than economics. Boris just doesn't have the balls to throw the fishing industry on the scrapheap like the milk snatcher did with coal, steel and shipbuilding.
