I am sorry I hate long posts....but I have never put anyone on ignore but I do occasionally ignore some people's comments that are argumentative for arguments sake. What I hope to do is have people question their beliefs and I like mine questioned. I can be wrong and I like to know when I am (hey it happens). Arguing with right-wingers can be a challenge. Their minds don't seem to be very flexible and logic or facts have little effect. I went over some of the reasons earlier like the Dunning-Kruger Effect. That is having a little or mistaken knowledge that simplifies an issue, leaving out all the nuance, and therefore leaving the person sure of their opinion. I mentioned confirmation bias but left out a couple other things. One is fear. Conservatives are motivated by fear. Fear of change, losing status, the outsider and for their safety. They tend to mistrust and focus on the negative be it social change or other ethnicities. The other thing, which I find quite interesting and explains a lot is Collective Narcissism. It is “an ingroup identification tied to an emotional investment in an unrealistic belief about the unparalleled greatness of an ingroup.” It can begin with feeling threatened by an outgroup and turn into toxic nationalism or racism or denial of scientific fact. Members of the ingroup are emotionally invested in the group’s identity to the point of excessive pride, a sense of superiority and belief that the outgroup is the enemy. Members get self-esteem from the group. The groups can be left or right. SJWs and antifa on the left, but the right is much more dangerous and larger as seen here.
Hey, to each their own. You got to do what works for you. It's been my experience that after numerous or lengthy exchanges that some right wing/alt right/fringe right posters essentially deteriorate into just either belligerent trolls or insipidly stubborn folk. I see no point in allowing that to clog up a thread I created or to have them dog my every post with such nonsense, so I dump them in the IA bin. It is what it is.
I suggest nothing of the sort...there are those still remaining that can give a good exchange, by which I can learn something. Thing is, when the same cast of characters keep dogging you and then don't change their tactics, it's a waste of time to entertain them. But if you've got the patience for their nonsense, my hats off to you. You got a lotta heart.
All I'm saying that the vast majority of killings are carried by blacks against other blacks . Why don't I see this on the news, why isn't there protests or outrage, why aren't people fighting to stop it? It's because it's not really about black lives. If it were really about black lives people would actually give a damb about the innocent blood spilled on the streets every single day. If people cared enough about black lives they would be fighting to save the huge numbers of lives taken on the streets every single year. I honestly think a really difference could be made and countless lives saved if people cared enough! And this is why black lives don't matter, people just like to make a show and pretend they do.
Actually black people do care about black lives. Every couple of months, there is some shooting of children or teenagers in black neighborhoods (almost always gang related), and the local black community will hold a vigil, and some pastor will be there making the same speeches about reaching out to these kids to stop this violence...and nothing ever happens and the cycle begins again. I've been watching this drama play out on local news my entire adult life. So they care, but have no idea on how to fix the problem, or even what the problem is.
Maybe if they addressed their own black culture problems, like music/lifestyle violence and having fatherless children and stopped shooting each other I could take black lives seriously. Butting getting upset when a black guy gets shot by a white guy and not the 5x more where black guys shoot white people while crying about racism is the apex of hypocrisy.
Where do you live? Maybe you are just unaware or willfully unaware, I don't know, but in my city there are frequent stop the violence marches, candle light vigils, clergy denouncing violence, there are foot patrols and local TV interviewing families asking to stop the violence. All the care in the world won't get rid of all the guns.
Baloney! This dreck you parrot ALWAYS excuses white on white crimes of all levels. Then you ignore the systemic racism in the American economic and social system that creates a LOT of problems. Folk like you have ignored for decades when various black organizations get a public forum and decry black on black crime, ask for better policing, non discrimination in job opportunities, etc. You pick and choose information that suits your preconceived notions. So spare us all this Storm Front like drivel.
Status quo for the left. Here's a video of driving while black you could enjoy if I wasn't ignored. Now I'll just have to post it without you knowing about it.
Ridding the country of guns (will never happen and should never happen) will not stop people from being violent to one another. Don't blame the actual criminals, blame something else.
If that were true blacks would not be the most dangerous to...other blacks. But please hide behind the racism card, it's the only one you seem to know how to use.
If you had behaved like a civilized human being you would still be alive. Once I was in a situation similar to the one Trayvon Martin was in. Late one night I rode my bicycle past an office building where several years earlier I had worked as a security guard. Because I am retrospective, I enjoy my memories. I rode my bicycle to the parking lot behind the office building. Two armed security guards came out to look at me. I got off of my bicycle, and walked with it over to them and asked, "Excuse me. Am I trespassing?" When one of the guards told me I was, I apologized, told them why I was there, and said I would leave immediately. We had a brief, friendly conversation, and I left. All Trayvon Martin had to do was to walk over to George Zimmerman, identify himself, explain that he was staying with his father, and give his father's address. That is the way a civilized human being behaves in a situation like that. Instead, Martin attacked Zimmerman from behind, threw him on the ground, and began punching him in the face.
That is terrible. When I think that those African Americans were walking home from choir practice, I feel like giving another donation to Black Lives Matter.
Where does hostility for blacks come from? Liberals like to think that proximity dispels prejudice. If this was true, Southern whites would be the least prejudiced people in the United States. For economic reasons immigrants often live in or near black neighborhoods. I have known and liked a lot of immigrants. I have never known one who liked blacks.
The same logic was used to discriminate Jews in USSR -- including my parents. Jews make up less then 1% of population. Yet they make up about 20% of those committed to insane asylums for anti-Communist activism during the years 1967-1978.
Its called segregation. It lingers in where you live, in jobs, who you associate with. One can be physically near but separate. Social proximity does help prejudice. Hostility for blacks comes from racist bigotry. Seeing the race as one negative unit and not as a group on individuals, some good, some bad. You've never known an immigrant who liked blacks? I've known immigrants who have married blacks, so subjective opinions like yours are worthless.
