It's no more irrational than believing something that died 2,000 years ago is going to save you somehow.
FWIW, everyone who ever lived and died, no matter how far back, is ahead of us because we will exit thru the same door. Life isn't a vain straight line. It's a circle or destination, sort of a proving ground. We are born into this life from elsewhere, spend awhile, and then return. In a sense, this life is like a dream, filled with vagaries and symbols, in which we labor and make choices, building our characters and storing our eternities, and in the end we perish and awake from the dream to our real lives, from which we originated. Have you ever had a dream from which you awoke unfinished with the task upon which you were involved in the dream, with a sense of desperation that you hadn't finished the chore, puzzle, mission, or whatever it happened to be? Or awoke and thought, whew! I'm glad it wasn't real because life is so much better than a dream. Well this life is kinda like such a dream. At least that's how I have come to look at it for now. It might sound crazy but it hurts no one.
A near death experiencer faced a somewhat similar question. https://www.near-death.com/religion/christianity/howard-storm.html#a06
Then perhaps you can explain where yours originates.... so far you've offered nothing but your dung...which as you admit....is located somewhere other than your arse
That's the way I read it also.... If he was only preaching Jewish (Old Testament) verses...he would have been left alone. But he didn't do that....he preached something different...which is why a New Testament was written.
If you found your dung in the Bible...perhaps it is because you put it there. You still have not offered anything here except your dung... you seem to disagree with posts here but offer nothing except your dung. Is that because all you have is dung?
If the Jews practiced Judaism, and Jesus practiced Christianity. Then why would Gabmux be wrong in saying they are two different religions? Not to mention the fact that Jesus was crucified by the Jews for his doctrines.
If you actually knew the Bible, and you knew Christianity, you'd know there isn't a dime's worth of difference between the two.
You discredit the knowledge of others....but provide exactly nothing to support your judgement. Perhaps if YOU actually knew the Bible....you would not be so quick to judge.
I'm no expert, but baptism, the sermon on the mount, and salvation to everyone, goes far beyond tribalish Judaism.
You're right, you are no expert. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_baptism Thats one, you'll have to read the OT to find out how wrong you are about the others. What, did you think? God made a different deal with you than he did with the Jews?
Question for all of you who think you know something: would God send His people to hell for doing what He told them to do?
Sorry, but taking a bath, washing your hands and sprinkling for the sake of cleanliness from dirt and disease is not the same as repentance and baptism by immersion for the remission of sin and having faith in Jesus Christ. Did you not read your own link? Do you think that showers, baths and hand washings will save your eternal soul. If so, waterworld is turning out Jews and Christians aplenty. They rejected and crucified Jesus and Christians because he was the real deal. He was the fulfillment of Judaism, not the same. The killing of God is a far cry from a burnt offering of an animal. But if you want to say there's not a dimes worth of difference between the two, then you have no stake in either, imo.
Please observe that your comment above is yet another judgement of someone else's knowledge. As yet you have provided no information to support your judgement.... So far your argument has been the 557 game.
Of course not....there is no hell...except in the storybooks you've heard about. Nor does God tell people what to do....he's no fool...he knows people wouldn't listen anyway. Take yourself for example...it is written,,,"Judge not, that ye be not judged." Did you listen? Once again....of course not.
