And another one gone and another one bites the dust.....

4 years of hysteria and phony claims and demands Trump be impeached, yes ANOTHER impeachment and charged with a crime. Inspite of the more rational dismissals of the claims.

    And dismissed. Wiped away.

Supreme Court dismisses cases questioning Trump profits from private businesses

WASHINGTON – The Supreme Court batted aside a pair of cases Monday that raised questions about former President Donald Trump’s business ties, finding the concerns over whether he violated the Constitution's anti-corruption clauses moot.

The cases involved questions about whether Trump violated the emoluments clauses of the Constitution by benefiting from his properties – notably, a hotel in downtown Washington, D.C. – where foreign and other entities with business before the federal government often stayed.

Trump’s critics argued that receiving revenue from those properties violated that prohibition.

The justices on Monday sent the cases back to lower courts and ordered that they be dismissed. Trump left office on Jan. 20, the day President Joe Biden was inaugurated.

Yay! The president got away with using his office to make money!
    Why are we celebrating that?

The Supreme Court didn't rule that Trump was innocent - they just ruled that the case didn't reach a conclusion before the
    Grifter-in-Chief left office.

I never was a big Trump 'cheerleader', but all this big radical Democrat furor over Trump breaking the Emoluments clauses of the Constitution were so clearly a batch of far-fetched, imbecilic nonsense that you didn't need to be a lawyer to see it.

Truth? The current political situation would make anybody "manic-depressive". For one set of reasons, I'm actually kind of happy that that Trump's gone... and for another, much larger set of reasons, I'm DEVASTATED that we're being set up for "Obama 2.0" under Joe Biden.

Scotus did not rule as you claim. They just said since he already left, it doesn’t matter that he was in violation.

Forgive my ignorance but I'm sincerely confused/interested in learning...

Could they have filed the suit while Trump was in office? And why is it no longer valid, simply because he has already left office?

Personally I could never stand the man. But I do respect the office and the law and the constitution. Seems to me the left had plenty to object to vis-a-vis their own policy positions but they choose to concentrate on the garbage such as this.

This goes with the appeals court dscision he did not violate and the competitors still had their civilsuit for damages.

Only because the accused had left office - not because the charges had no merit. The Grifter-in-Chief ran out the time-clock.

They did, the courts took forever. They were trying to get him to stop profiting off his office, well he’s gone...so he stopped lol

Yes because he’s already finished profiting off his office and all they asked was for him to stop

Can he be impeached after he leaves office? These were civil suits still being persued in spite of losing while he was in office and remember the claims this was criminal he should be arrested and on and on.
The DOJ had pointed out to SCOTUS there was no emoluments violation.

Competitor suing there would be past damages and had been dismissed WHILE HE WAS IN OFFICE in the appeals court and are you saying he can't be impeached now?
This is the final nail in the coffin.

He was impeached while he was in office. The senate trial is an adjunct process and can happen after said impeachment even if the person as left office. This was set by precedent.

Oh? And please tell us when a president was ever impeached by the House, and then removed by the Senate AFTER HE WAS NO LONGER IN OFFICE? I thought I knew my American history fairly well until you mentioned this. Dang!

So, Trump couldn't be slammed with an 'emoluments' beef WHILE he was president, and, he can't be slammed with the same 'emoluments' beef now that he's just another 'nobody' like all the rest of us...?

From the OP, "The justices on Monday sent the cases back to lower courts and ordered that they be dismissed."

Yeah, "dismissed" -- even though Trump is now a "nobody"... right?

Another radical Democrat fable just fades away, like a weak fart. :fart:

You are right, Bada -- Trump is now just another NOBODY, like all the rest of us. So, if he had some kind of temporary 'immunity from prosecution' as president, it sure as hell doesn't apply today, does it...? Shouldn't the Democrats have been able to 'go for his guts' now that he is a private citizen again? Evidently, the Supreme Court called 'bullshit' on that concept....

Hint: the SCOTUS didn't just 'send it down to a lower court' -- it sent it down and ORDERED THAT THE CASES BE DISMISSED!

"FPT......" fans seen to alway celebrate the crimes of their Cult leader! Remember what PFT said in 2016----__that he can go out on Fift AVENUE and terminate someone with prejudice and his followers would still vote for him. They prove him correct on that score everytime. SICK , SAD and repulsive as that is to us honest patriotic Americans. Has 1/3 of our once great nation become a Jonestown?

Yes, but that isn't why he's being impeached a second time.

So he's no longer in office and should be dropped as was this lawsuit. Impeachment AND removal are for THE President as is being claimed here about emoluments. And thievish a continuation of the civil lawsuit that he won on appeal while in office by a competitor which would include damages.

It's worse than that, Partizan. The Loonie Tunes "Jonestown" element is now greater than one-third -- it's at least ONE-HALF. And by electing Biden/Harris, they are saddling us with "Obama 2.0" right now, just as fast as they can!

[IMG]. I held some hope for Joe, but his first cabinet pick was JANET YELLEN! (Barf, gag, puke!)
