If the vote to convict Dirty Donald fails to convict, as it appears it very well may, due to lack of moral compass and a spine by many on the right. From reading the wording and purpose of the 14th Amendments Section 3.1 it sounds exactly what is needed to bar Trump from ever holding a government position again. It specifically specifies anyone who instigated or promoted insurrection as being a candidate for permanent banishment from our government

If he is exonerated by the senate the 14th amendment section 3 doesn't apply.

And pray tell why, since it is an official part of our Constitution.

Double jeopardy. The senate will put him on trial and if he is exonerated it's like it didn't happen. That's what a trial is for.

First off, I want him impeached as well (for different reasons than you) but that isn't' the point.
The point is you have to prove in-sighting insurrection and I'm sorry, but him saying "PEACEFULLY PROTEST" is not in-sighting insurrection.
Here in America (not sure where you are from) we have an INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY rule.
What's the prosecution here exactly? is it "Oh well he knew what he was doing".."people perceived it that way"....yeah sorry, that isn't enough to make it ILLEGAL

There will come a time some time in the future where there will be a republicant house and possibly a republicant senate and a DCP president. Since the DCP has now set the precedent that a president can be impeached and possibly removed at will this will become the norm in the future.

I think if you start playing a long list of Dirty Donald speeches started from when he first declared himself as a candidate until he lost the election and thereafter he built a very long history of lies and insinuations all intended and stated so as to convince his followers that he was going to be cheated out of an election win. Once he actually did lose it was easy for him to fire up the radical followers and point them down the road towards the capitol, as he did. He had basically spent 4 years priming the pump before turning his inflamed mob loose.

Then revoke his Secret Service protection and end his pension and post-presidential perks.

When he’s not convicted by the senate what makes you think congress can then use the 14th? If he’s not convicted by the senate for insurrection then I don’t see how the 14th can be applied.

If a private citizen cannot be impeached then we have erred historically in the past, because it has occurred more than once.

In an impeachment trial the SENATE IS THE JURY. If any member of a courtroom jury indicated to the judge that they would not convict as 45 Republican senators have they would never be seated as jurors because preconceived BIASES are not allowed by a juror. A JURY is SUPPOSED to judge the accused based strictly on the evidence as presented during the trial not preconceived or preformed biases or preferences.

He will probably retain the SS protection for the rest of his life no matter what. We don't need him to get kidnapped and giving up state secrets. Since he's not likely to help Biden in any way, I don't really understand why he must remain abreast of new information but, apparently, it is something all former Presidents have access to (for the purpose of helping the sitting POTUS).

Unfortunately, I believe he keeps his ex president perks regardless of the trials outcome.

Where do you get that information? It seems very dangerous for a former President to not have SS protection, especially in this case.

I doubt he really has any state secrets considering the numerous reports of his lack of attention during Presidential Daily Briefs. I don't know what is legally possible, but he cannot and should not be given any kind of honor or benefit considering his abominable and traitorous behavior.

In order to get him to lose his ex-president perks they have to remove him NUNC-PROTUNC meaning going backwards to 11:59 on January 20,2021 when he was still legally president. I never heard of this before but that is what it says online???

I agree the tradition shouldn't continue but there is much debate on if/how it will.

When he leaves office, can ex-President Trump be trusted with America's national security secrets?

    Excerpt...

I have a strong suspicion Dirty Donald, by his actions, has already excluded himself from the ex presidents club.
