Princeton Group Votes To Rescind Honor For Cruz

    More on this: https://paw.princeton.edu/article/princeton-alumni-rebuke-sen-ted-cruz-92

Do you think their actions are justified? Why or why not?

I'm still waiting for Time Magazine to rescind Adolf Hitler's Man of the Year....

Also, once Nobel pulls Barack Obama's Peace Prize, then some ridiculousness like this will make sense.

Will The New York Academy of Medicine (NYAM) pull its prestigious 2020 Stephen Smith Medal from NY Governor Cuomo, for his Distinguished Contributions in Public Health, in recognition of his leadership of the state during the COVID-19 pandemic? No, they won't, he's got D before his name and title.

The hypocrisy of enlightened progressive tolerant liberal Democrats is breathtaking even to this cynical poster :frustrated:

Sure, why wouldn't this be justified?? They gave it, they can rescind it...

I highly doubt Rafael is going to give a damn...

Whatever the opposite of "betterment of society" is, that's Ted Cruz (and his amigos)

I understand that they CAN rescind it. I'm just wondering if they should rescind it. We live in a culture that seems to want to reinvent history too haphazardly.

The current members must have made the connection that he no longer lived up to the standard for the award you listed in the OP. As indicated, is Ted Cruz currently "dedicating his life to the betterment of society"??

    I'd say clearly no...

Similar to the career downfall of America's Former Mayor....

No one is looking to reinvent history. They are simply acknowledging that Cruz no longer lives up to the standards of the award and they no longer want him associated with it. In fact, I think it should happen a lot more often. When someone no longer (or it is revealed that they never really did) live up to the honor, it should be removed. And yes, I mean ALL people - all sides of the social and political spectrum who receive awards for outstanding contributions.

I understand your point. However, is that why we give awards? Aren't awards to mark some "moment" in time? I am not a Cruz fan at all. I'm more focusing on the idea of retroactively punishing someone because they don't *continue* to live up to whatever standard you used to initially award them.

I would not be in favor of such an action but then I ask myself " did Lying Ted " dedicate his life to the better, ent of society". That voice of morality and truth deep inside says " no no no Lying Ted only wants to better himself not society and Lying Ted prostrates himself before the Donnie like a weezel so so Lying Ted deserves nothing.

How true. Lying Ted Rafael Cruz born in Canada of an American mother and a father from Communist Cuba did nothing to deserve that honor.

He is in the Sport Gamblers Hall of Fame. Or wait a typo that is the Sport Gamblers Hall of Shame.

He was a great baseball player. He just lacked a sense of morality.

Well, the interesting thing (and I didn't see this info in the OP) is that they gave this award to Cruz only in 2016. Which begs the question, what DID he do to deserve that honor?? I sort of assumed this was given to him a long time ago, like when he first got into the Senate (Pre 'Green Eggs and Ham")

You’re comparing Cuomo with Cruz... does it make you feel better about Cuomo?
