I don't want to arm anyone. I want people to be able to choose to arm themselves or not. I of course hope that they do, but I'll respect their choice not to. What I won't respect is a war on guns, which will be at least as bad and possibly worse than a war on drugs for all the same reasons. Sure its easy to say violence isn't the answer. But there are bad people who live their life by might is right, and while its noble to try and get them to think differently, theres also innocent people that need to protect themselves from them in the meantime- whether they be common street thugs or violent political extremists.
YouTube to lift Trump ban if violence threat falls, says CEO https://www.bbc.com/news/technology...ews Newsletter]-2021March5-[top+news+stories] Enjoy the silence from the provocative bellicosity as long as we can. Just when things are starting to calm down and become reasonable.
That’s funny. It’s ok because it was only a suspension, not a full ban. What do you have to do to cop a full ban, I wonder?
I respect your opinion...am merely stating my argument that owning guns will not lessen the problems we face at this time. If they did...things would be getting better not worse.
That's fair. Restricting them however will fix nothing and create new issues. Thats the point I was trying to make with my original comment on the subject, in response to someone appearing to suggest that OP should be reason to make it harder to access firearms.
I surely can't blame someone for trying to find a solution... the more folks that are trying to solve the problems....the better for us all. It's the ones that refuse to compromise simply because they can never be wrong... not because they have the best solution.
That sounds like- 'We have to do something even if its wrong'. Thats never been a good solution when applied to the law.
Rep. Eric Swalwell sues Trump over Jan. 6 riot, alleging he poses risk of ‘inciting future political violence’ (msn.com) Swallwell suing Trump for what I call it as uncalled for on January 6. These mobsters had no business whatsoever terrorizing the Capitol Building. No one has the right to do so at all and that's how I feel about it. Trump is a no good son-of-a-B**** for it and that's what I think about him for it. Swallwell did right and I respect him for it.
Man arrested after allegedly defacing 'America's Stonehenge' with suspected Q-Anon-related graffiti - CNN Mark Russo 50 went to court to face what he did. He ought to go to jail. That should teach him a lesson.
The more lawsuits against Trump for his contribution to the violence and deaths in Jan........the better. Sadly he lacks the insight and self awareness to realize that his actions and words have consequences. No matter what he says or how he spins it....he is NOT a victim. He does his share of victimizing.due in part to his extreme attitude of entitlement. & insufferable arrogance.
All these Q-Anons that decided to take over our government on March 4. should go to jail too. Some were even calling it a conspiracy theory and said there wouldn't be an insurrection. But thank God we have the media to set our country straight - I mean can you imagine if our government was left without the protection of the National Guards? Then who would protect Biden and the rest of them from all the Maga fiends roaming about? They think they own the place. What a bunch of criminals.
It's really just looking for something that will work... instead of just trying to destroy anything the left does without something effective to replace it like the Republicans try to do with the ACA for instance. You complain about any talk of restrictions on assault rifles, but you don't even try come up with an alternative solution. It's either your way or nothing. If you don't want any gun control than do something to stop kids from getting murdered. Come up with a plan to stop the needless shooting deaths instead of just buying up all the ammo.
Well stated !!! Agree: Instead of just bashing and trashing the left.......lets' see some alternate plans./ suggestions that make sense. Plus The word "compromise" is not a swear word. About the guns ins question. If folks are not prepared to be responsible owners .........and o their part in PREVENTING shootings.........then they should not have them. (rights or no rights. Just as folks with mental disorders should not have access tot hem) People with extremist ideologies and thinking are borderline (at last) psychologically questionable.
Where to start...? I guess with Mental health reform. And not just throwing money at it either, tho it needs that too. We need to stop viewing the mentally ill as criminals so they will seek help, instead of trying to treat everyone as potentially mentally ill criminals like we do now which just makes people avoid the psychologist like the plague. We also need to stop throwing pills at everything and recognize that many conditions are not 'treatable' but rather 'manageable' with a lot of work, training and practice. But for that to happen, we'll have to stop worshipping at the alter of the pharmaceutical corporations. Implimenting medical policy that doesn't involve more medication is DOA in our political-medical establishment. Until we tackle mental health, no amount of restrictions are going to stop violence, shooting or otherwise. Of course, we will never be able to afford to properly address mental health at the social level if we offer (or allow by loophole) free health care to immigrants. That will make it too expensive and we'll wreck our economy trying to keep up and the resulting poverty will just lead to more mental illness, more violence. Which brings me to the economy. Poverty is a major contributor to both violence and mental illness, no doubt with a lot of overlap. The longer we stay shut down for Cvirus, the more we let big business lobby to regulate small business into the ground, and the more we keep raising taxes, the poorer the poor are going to get, and the more violence and mental illness we're going to have as a result. Again, restricting firearms is not going to prevent this. Those intent on mayhem are going to get the best tools with which to conduct it regardless of the law. The only thing firearm restrictions will prevent is more of those who are not violent or criminals from defending themselves from the increasing epidemic of the violently mentally ill. Given how pretty much all of this plan is antithetical to the goals of our corrupt political establishment, I think its safe to say that poverty, overmedication, and other stressers in our environment are only going to amplify instead of reduce (by design I think), and it won't be too long before you too may be seeking to get an 'assault weapon' and 'horde' a bit of ammo to protect yourself from this. I hope I'm wrong of course, but its always wise to prepare for the worst while hoping for the best.
Second lawsuit filed against Trump over Jan. 6 Capitol riot (msn.com) It looks like Trump will be boiled in his own stew.
It's not Trump they want to stifle. They want to stifle the American people who won't accept the Democrats liberal insanity. They're scared out of their wits because Trump is the one giving them a voice - and that voice keeps increasing with Biden and Kamala.
Isn't it amazing how few nuts posting on social media can move the government? I'll bet they are enjoying the heck out of it.
Mental health reform is a great idea. So is prison reform IMO. US prisons only create more mental health issues. But are the "right" discussing those things...writing legislation maybe....actually doing their jobs??? No....when the "right" are not campaigning...they are competing to see which one of them can say or do the most ignorant, ridiculous things to get themselves free publicity on the evening news. As long as they can keep their base amused with trash talk and Trump praise.....they get votes.
I can't take anyone seriously that says those idiots at the Capitol were Insurrectionists. Especially when they imply "it was a near thing". WTH does that even MEAN? You want to see an image of extreme danger to the Republic? Pull up a photo of the thousands of troops on the Capitol grounds. And they're there for political gain. DISGUSTING
What does domestic terrorism look like? Would it resemble riots, looting, arson, vandalism and general violent disruption of normal business and living?
How long do you think it's valid to leave troops on our Capitol grounds even though NOTHING that's been predicted, has happened? 2 more months? 2 more YEARS? Is razor wire enough or should a few mines be put in place as well?
