Again, your definition of the word 'vague', and my definition differ completely. Something vague would be something that has no substance. In this instance, you don't like the substantive statements that I'm making and calling it vague. That's not the same thing at all.

Others have given examples, but what prompted my post was actually a celebratory article written in TheBlaze, about how the WNBA's Dream's former owner(she had run for the Senate as a Republican) was purportedly a racist(the article doesn't go on to spell this racism, despite saying so. I should call their article vague as it actually fits.) and therefore, public pressure was exerted to have her sell the team.

From what you gather from the article, it was 'racist' to not support the BLM movement. And while it's true that the WNBA is a private entity, and that they can do whatever they want on the inside, this 'public pressure' to banish/condone people that we don't want will end up with a mass unemployment of scores of people(and that's the least of it). In the worst case, you'll have massive trust and communication issues across the country.

Who wants to be the one who makes a light hearted joke during lunch hour, only to get reported to HR? That's the world that woke has brought to us. And it's a very illiberal society.

Wouldn't a more appropriate term for QAnon believers be QuAckheads?

The MUDDLED blather above gives the impression that it could be a SYMPTOM of QAnonitis.

Unfortunately even the BEST technology has yet to come up with a QAnese to English translator.

    Sad!

Your Q-GOP is the party that PROMOTED the outsourcing of American jobs.

The FIRST thing that you should do is to STOP creating these kinds of whining "alas we white people can no longer oppress minorities" threads.

If you have a problem then sort it out for yourselves. If YOU want your own rightwing biased technology then go ahead and set it up for yourselves. It isn't as though you have to do ANY of it from SCRATCH either. All of the HARD WORK has already been done by LIBERALS so all you need to do is just LICENSE the software from LIBERALS and the hardware from LIBERALS and PAY a liberal to set it up for you.

Then you and your fellow "conservatives" can post your complaints about no longer being able to DICTATE what minorities must do in order to please you.

It's sort of hard to be all that much for skeptical science education when your main proponents remind people of nothing so much more than the Cardinals who forced Galileo to recant his radical idea that the Earth moved about the sun

No, I want public pressure to be irrelevant to a person's livelihood. No person should be able to interfere with the financial or personal livelihoods of another. So long as it's legal and honorable, who am I to interfere with the life of another?

    Very apt I think.
There have always been those on the edges of the broad river of acceptability in a decent law-abiding society but it speaks volumes when they actually carry some political weight. IMO it speaks of some sickness somewhere in the culture of the country.
I don't think it is one problem specifically but when a culture can't fix itself via democracy, instead of make believe and alternative reality, and is protected by the head of state who appeals to them, albeit covertly so as not to be highlighted , to begin an overthrow of democracy, it starts to get very serious.

Even in a society that supports freedom of speech etc, its strength of identity should be strong enough to spot the mentally deranged and the extremist anti-social anti-values groups like the Proud Boys and give them no credence.

    Agreed!

Unfortunately our current situation is self inflicted. Back in the 1980's no self respecting Republican would touch the extremist ideas of the far right fringe. They wanted nothing whatsoever to do with banning abortion or any of the other whacknuttery,

Then along came Newt Gingrich and he embraced the rightwing extremists as a means to gain power for himself in Congress. Dole was old school and lost in 1996 since he did not grovel enough for their liking. Then came 2000 and Karl Rove made the Tea Party rabble the centerpiece of his campaign. He destroyed McCain by appealing to the inherent racism in extreme right.

From that point forward the extremists controlled what had become today's Q-GOP. They used the Primaries to EVICT the moderate Republicans and replace them with extremists. They t deliberately and maliciously suppressed Minority Voting in order to obtain a stranglehold on power. They overreached in 2008 when their Mortgage Ponzi scam collapsed but managed to use it as means to regain power in 2010 by disingenuously blaming Obama and the Dems. The 2016 primaries were a rerun of what had happened to moderate Republics in all of the down ticket races and the Minority Voter Suppression enabled them to "steal" the election.

The Crown Jewel was the outright THEFT of SCrOTUS seats which has resulted in something on the order of 400 extremist rightwing bills to ban abortion across the red states which will result in a predictable ruling.

I do not have a crystal ball so I cannot predict where this is headed but there is at least an AWARENESS of the THREAT now in Congress so hopefully they won't allow it to continue.

everyone knows that the tech billionaires are libertarian leaning haters of taxes and regulation who conspire to set prices and restrict labor.

if repubs can't get musk or zuckerberg to contribute maybe it is their own fault.

It's a very classical: What if the shoe were on the other foot? While elections do have consequences, we have the responsibility of making sure those consequences are not unintended consequences.

Very sensible of you, but again, quite chimerical! "Public pressure" is everyday life; it's what makes politicians (eventually) move and helps Society reach many goals, good or bad.

Would it be too much to ask you to substantiate your vague claim that "Liberals oft like to celebrate the idea that it is a privilege to utilize certain social vehicles, these privileges of course are exclusively to the Left and to the extent that any conservative or otherwise not affiliated with the Left uses them, it must universally do so by its own rules"

Celebrate that it is privilege? What does that even mean? And it's 'stunning' no less? How so? "Universally by it's own rules". Now there's a textbook example of mush.

If others don't mind doing your homework for you, wonderful, lucky guy you are, but that would not be me. I read others responses on this forum, and some don't mind wallowing in vagueness, happens a lot, really, but that doesn't mean it's not vague. I'm the kind of guy who needs an idea to be specific, focused, and 'celebrate that it is a privilege' just doesn't cut it. Give examples of this, and make sure they are 'stunning', and 'universally by it's own rules', because it's a very mushy sentence.

Well, firstly to defend myself I was unaware this was the 'current events' subsection, but rather it's the political opinions and beliefs subsection. Given that, even if it were a rant it would be a rant I'm entitled to(of course, I'm not saying I'm entitled to this rant being well received or understood) but were it one, it can't be held against me for making one.

    https://www.cnbc.com/2020/07/02/most-liberal-tech-companies-ranked-by-employee-donations.html

So yes, the tech industry owns the Democrats. Big money in particular owns democrats, as Michael Bloomberg confessed to us last year. Or did we all forget?

As for 'privileges', I would think that anyone would know about all of the doxxing that's gone on in the past few years, the 'cancel culture', etc. Conservatives have a valid argument that they never tried to make liberals 'uncomfortable' at restaurants, or call liberals nazis(despite how trying to undermine someone's ability to earn a living is very nazi-like.)

So again, no rant. Just a mirror to show the ugly side of modern day American liberalism.

Well, if I had to choose between 'making repubs uncomfortable' and felony murder via insurrection, I'll take the former, thank you.

But, Maxine and her friends, are isolated events. You said 'universal', which is why your rant was, indeed, a rant ( because if you had really thought things through, you'd refrain from mushy verbiage as 'universal' etc. ).

As for cancel culture, excuse me, I can point to numerous conservatives canceling (Certain persons not allowed to speak at CPAC, Glenn Beck, O'Rielly, Alan Colmes, Megan Kelly, Lou Dobbs, etc, so it's a 'universal' theme, using your mushy verbiage.

I have as much criticism of liberals as many on the right, but at least we do good things, like Covid relief, Medicare, Social Security, etc, repubs want to end it all and drive America back to the 18th century..

Big money backs both sides of the spectrum, so I don't even know why you are singling out dems.

From what we see issuing from self proclaimed "liberals" and self proclaimed "conservatives", we can conclude that each is correct, in large, about their claims concerning the other.

I'm singling out dems, because even per Ted Cruz Democrats get 3-X the money from shadow corporate interests as Republicans, even MSNBC finally let that cat out of the back. The crying over citizens united was totally hollow considering they ended up favoring the most from shadow money. It's about hypocrisy, which the Democratic Party and its voters have in spades.

Even Warren in the democratic primaries tried to stuff that cat in the bag, but for an independent like myself I saw the cat, I acknowledge the cat and there's no way to un acknowledge it.

And as far as the conservative side making certain peoples persona non-grata, at least said persons aren't doxxed and attempted to be removed from their jobs, just not allowed to speak at a certain convention event. So even in the comparison of cancel culture, conservatives are far less than democrats.

You have voices from leading experts and others voicing concern over the democrats new "civil crusade", as it more appears that democrats are interested in winners and losers than they are in truly uniting the country.

I uphold your right to post whatever baseless mush laden rants you want just as I uphold the rights of others to call them out for being baseless mush riddled rants lacking any merit worthy content.

The DECADES not YOUR extremist conservative buddies have UNDERMINE the RIGHTS of Women, Gays and Minorities and in doing so IMPACTING their ability to earn a living.

So when it comes to being "nazi-like" you need to remove the LOG from your own vision first and foremost.

There is nothing UGLIER than modern day UNAMERICAN conservatism which you apparently turn a blind eye towards while BERATING liberals for IMPROVING the quality of life for ALL Americans.

    Sad!

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHA!

There are 300+ pieces of Q-GOP legislation targeting the CANCELLATION of women's reproductive rights in progress as we speak.

That is AIMED at more than half of the POPULATION of our nation.

There are another 100+ pieces of Q-GOP legislation targeting the CANCELLATION of Minority Voting rights in progress as we speak.

Once again you IGNORE the LOG in your own vision while pointing a finger at legitimate attempts to END the VIOLATIONS of the Constitutional rights of minorities by RACIST white oppressors in law enforcement.

In essence that COMPARISON exposes that YOUR side is far WORSE than anything the left is doing.

Yup .. nothing new about Red being Anti Abortion - and its a dumb and dumber platform - the party taken over by the Religious Right -Just as Goldwater predicted.

What is perhaps "New" here though .. is the fact that Blue is now just as bad as Red on civil liberties - trashing them left right and center rather than protecting.

    Sad commentary..

What is SAD is BELIEVING that Q-GOP conspiracy crap about the Left.

STOPPING racist law enforcement officers from KILLING blacks is NOT "trashing" any "civil liberties" because there are NO "civil liberties" that give RACIST white supremacists the "right" to OPPRESS and/or KILL blacks.

    FACTS matter!

What is "Conspiracy" ? I gave concrete examples such as the demonization of Dershowitz, Moore, Gabbard. The one who is flouting conspiracy gibberish is the one in denial of these facts. Do these "FACTS" not "Matter" ?

While perhaps not belief in conspiracy - it is mindless fallacy to believe Red's violations of civil liberties serve as justification for Blue's violation of civil liberties .. who was trying to convince you of this nonsense ?
