Guess who made that twitter post. Here is the exact quote:

"If you want your 401k's and stocks, which are getting closer to an all time high (NASDAQ is already there), to disintegrate and disappear, vote for the Radical Left Do Nothing Democrats and Corrupt Joe Biden,"

Well, well, the S&P 500 is over 4,000 today for the first time in history. Seems like Trump's doomsday prognostications weren't all that accurate. If he were, however, still in office, we'd hear never-ending gloating about the great Trump economy and how HE made your 401k soar. Being in the opposition? Not a peep.

Note: I don't give presidents credit for the stock market performance. Therefore, this is not a thread to praise Biden, it is a thread to point out the folly of Trump's bluster.

Yep! Seems like our conservative friends are not interested in this thread, while they were gloating for four years about the magical Trump economy every time the Dow reached a new high. Note: That's what the stock market tends to do. In contrast, Biden seems to be mum. How refreshing.

Yes. I've noticed that. I've asked some direct questions and just get crickets. Very telling.

I made money under Obama so I was confident that Biden would protect Wall street. However that does not help main street.... it only helps people who have substantial amounts of money in the market (like me).

You are basically advertising that you care about the plight of the most privileged in society. Thank you for that. It is a refreshing bit of honesty.

But given that the MAGA crowd used stock market values as an indicator of Trump's success for several years after
he was elected, why would that metric change for the MAGA crowd now?

Personally, I think the President has little influence on stock prices long term, and I am expecting a pull-back at any
time - but it does sort of shoot holes in the MAGA argument.

You know what would be really refreshing? A serious non-partisan discussion of the stock market. But that is not going to happen.

The current theory, that I have heard, suggests we will have a heated market for about a year before a drastic shift in the market occurs. The reason the market is doing so well is because of the stimulus. These things are not long term or sustainable though. Another stimulus might delay the crash like the previous ones have but I think eventually it won't be able to sustain its upward trajectory.

The stock market is only a small factor, and although Trump did mention other factors such as rising income, he certainly gave more attention to the stock market than it deserves.

I'd be happy to have a serious discussion about the stock market. This could be a start, a thread I posted a while ago when Trump fans were praising the stock market and the "Trump strong" economy.

    http://www.politicalforum.com/index...-stock-market-economy.516266/#post-1068116581

I posited that the best strategy is to invest in the market, no matter who is president. Is that non-partisan enough for you?

I disagree. If we beat covid, the economy will be back strong in a year's time. The stock market is doing well because of the vaccines.

So since you are quoting Trump's twitter, it's safe to assume it was something written a few months ago, before the ban? And it was for today, April 1st?

Well if he made that prediction for April first, he's wrong. I suspect the intent was about the Biden's administration. Biden hasn't even rolled out an economic policy to speak of. However I feel confident we'll be in Bear market territory in less than 18 months. If not, you can come back and give me the raspberry.

Hasn't Wall St. economists already predicted at least a 7% GDP this year which would be the biggest jump in many years.

That guy has no interest in the truth. He only cares about what he thinks can help him at that time. Believing anything that Trump says is done at your own risk.

If you pay attention to the COVID stimulus bill and his infrastructure bill, Biden's efforts are being targeted at main street, at the expense of Wall Street, the opposite of the Republican effort during the Trump's brief presidency.

I am more concerned about inflation with these massive spending bills. My stocks holdings are designed to minimize loss in the event of a downturn. However, there is no way I can protect them against inflation.

Republicans are always concerned about inflation when a Dem is in office. When a Republican explodes the deficit by taxing less and spending more, the usual GOP playbook, they don't have a worry in the world about inflation. Typical....

I was concerned about the deficit under Obama and under Trump. Biden is taking it to a whole new level with a gigantic spending bill disguised as stimulus and another gigantic spending bill disguised as infrastructure.

I do not call that "Typical". .

Plus, when one looks at the data, the economy tends to do better when Democrats are in power, than when Republicans are in power.

I paid attention. Biden gave me $5600 I did not ask for and did not need. What the hell did he do for the tens of thousands of small businesses that are now defunct because they were forced into lockdowns against their will by Democratic sociopaths in positions of power to win an election. Gonna give them the back the billions of dollars they lost? Gonna restore their businesses back to where they were before the Democrats murdered them? Didn't think so. Going to throw money at people don't need it, deny restorative justice to the businesses demolished and throw some pocket change to the unemployed and working stiffs. Money that will almost certainly flow direct into Amazon's coffers.... basically it is a stimulus for the most wealthy globalist companies.

Dems didn't force the lockdowns, the virus did. Even without lockdowns, people wouldn't have flocked to restaurants, movie theaters, etc., in order to avoid risk of getting infected.

The Biden stimulus, btw, contains money for small businesses:

    https://www.cnbc.com/2021/01/15/sma...ditional-aid-in-bidens-covid-relief-plan.html

BTW: If you didn't want your $5,600, you can give it back. Isn't that the usual response to Dems wanting more taxes? Just pay more yourself, but don't force anyone else to pay more?

Funny how they keep pushing the lie about Dem forcing the lockdowns. They always seem to ignore that Red states also went through a period of being locked down.

That is the usual response from the democrats, "Just give it back".

I took our $5600 even though I did not need it. Giving it back, still would not get it to the right people. It would just go into the democrats coffers so they could find something else to waste it on. I can at least find a better use for it.

Think about what you just posted for just a second.

Don't you think it would be incredibly stupid not to accept it? I can't speak for the rest of the republicans, however, just sending it back is stupid. $5600 to the government does not amount to anything. $5600 to me is significant even though I don't need it. I am not in the habit of throwing away $5600. . Biden and the democrats should have been more selective about who it goes to. It should go to those out of work and who are actively looking for work.
