I knew people have been sitting home and watching TV during the pandemic, but this is still surprising. 29 pounds takes a long time to lose, and many will never lose it. Another surprising fact is that "essential workers" gained the most, although by definition they have been working all this time.

Here’s how much weight we gained (and lost) in the pandemic
    https://www.poynter.org/reporting-e...ch-weight-we-gained-and-lost-in-the-pandemic/
It seems that some of us have grazed our way through the pandemic while others have been too upset to eat.

New Harris polling done for the American Psychological Association shows 42% of Americans have gained a stunning 29 pounds on average during the pandemic while 18% have unintentionally lost weight for an average loss of an equally surprising 26 pounds.

No worries. You are not required to believe anything you do not want to believe.

This is a lie, this is not what your link shows. This was either posted in malice or in stupidity. Which was it? I hope this thread is removed as "fake news."

"New Harris polling done for the American Psychological Association shows 42% of Americans have gained a stunning 29 pounds on average during the pandemic while 18% have unintentionally lost weight for an average loss of an equally surprising 26 pounds."

    1) This is from a poll.
    2) 42% of Americans have gained 29 pounds they found, not all Americans.
    3) This does not take into account how many pounds were lost by Americans during the same time frame.

In other words, the thread cap is a lie, nonsense made up by you. Nowhere in the link YOU supplied is it stated that "Americans have gained 29 pounds..."

42% of Americans gained that much, so yes, the 42% should have been included. Too late to edit now. The full text is staring at you right there in the OP. Why does it offend you so much that you'd resort to personal attacks?

    How much did you gain?

The really sad part is, you do belive it.

I knew it was nonsense so I looked into it. You just posted it like a dumb drone or you had bad internet in posting a lie.
I have so had it with the real fake news in American. The alternate truth crowd.

I attacked the post, I stated the obvious.

If you are not upset at "alternate facts" and the real fake news that is on you.

Everything you whine about, including the 42%, is mentioned in the OP, so maybe its time you get over it.

If mods are kind enough, they can add the 42% in the title.

    Would that make you happy(er)?

Either that, or some exercise and self-control.

So we, as a nation, gained a ton of weight, - probably more than ever before. Almost half of millennials gained 41 pounds. It will lead the diabetes and other health concerns.

At least we're not in the ICU

    Yet.

I dunno, to most people in the world the main problem they have with food is getting enough of it. If you have too much, stop eating, problem solved.

Let's try telling the fatties that we're increasing their taxes by the amount they spend on food. If they're Trumpers, it's going to the Wall. If they voted like sane people it goes to Covid vaccines and if like nice people it goes to the refugees, In any case, it can't go for food.

What are they gonna eat, each other?

As a nation, we slapped on 3.9 billion pounds of fat in one year.

Thanks mods for fixing the thread title. I tried, but it was too late.

They were your words, now you are trying to project them on someone while trying to slap false labels on other posters.

You said it, so please don't pretend it was someone else. Its dishonest.

Americans were getting fatter before Covid. Out of concern for public health, gyms will be closed and McDonalds will deliver!!! Yay!

We are a fat nation, but we weren't getting this fat this fast. I dont think we can blame it on gym's being closed, because most people don't go to gyms to begin with. IMO its that people don't do anything at all, so it has gone from "doing little" to "doing nothing".

We are definitely an obese nation. COVID is no excuse. Get off the damn couch and take a hike somewhere. Hell, COVID has given me more time for exercise and more time to cook healthy foods. Plus it is pretty much impossible to be depressed when you are surrounded by mountains and forests. Fitness is a state of mind.

It's true in my case. I've gained 50 lbs. Fortunately, I was underweight before so I'm not obese. I think it was a combination of the lockdown (being more sedentary) and a medication with weight gain as a side effect. My doctor switched the medication and I'm doing exercises at home. I've lost about 20 lbs. so far.

I didn't have this problem but I know people have been eating more out of boredom of being at home. The psychological effects of the lockdowns can't be dismissed. It is hitting people hard.
