There are two things that determine what a society is like- the people that make it up, and what results from the way those people behave.
Whatever the society will tolerate- they will get.

If we tolerate crime and criminals, extremists, corruption in governance, the distortion of history, the distortion of sound fundamental values, and of the things that turn a society against itself... that's what we get.
It's also true that we must understand that we are also individuals, and while free to control our own lives- others are too, and we must tolerate the way other individuals choose to believe.

The friction takes place when we begin to tolerate the imposition of evils or consequences on one another, when we allow the consequences of people's own decisions to be blamed and punishment imposed on others- and we allow them to corrupt and destroy the fabric that gives all people freedom.

INo society will ever please everyone, because there will always be those who refuse to be responsible for themselves, refuse to respect others, hold others responsible for their own decisions failing.

Thus- we set ideals, values that if respected- require us to be the best we can be. When we excuse those who will not hold themselves to rational values, who refuse to self- regulate, then- we destroy ourselves.
What gets "shoved down our throat" doesn't include the idea that you are responsible for your own decisions, that you have no right to hold others responsible for your consequences. That's been a law of nature long before man came along, and it is the one thing that is absolutely critical to any functioning society.

That is where a great many people fail- they resent the human obligation to be a responsible person, and blame others for the conditions that they alone have created for themselves.
If we want the country to come back, to thrive- that is what we must stop tolerating.

Facism is dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition. My words specifically point out that is it when people do that to others, we then have a right and obligation to stop it. Sounds like you want such a condition to be the power of those in control to eliminate opposing opinion, not crime or wrongful. That is what the left is doing in todays politics- so you need to do some examination of those in power running roughshod over the opposition, then you can observe fascism in action. I say YOU are responsible for your actions- the only time society has a right to intercede is when you use them to harm other people.

Looking at post #259 shows and tells us that every action and or belief of the Nazi Socialists is being played out and copied today by the Democrat Party. No one can dispute the similarities, no one. Well I'm happy that you know the definition so let me help you with what's wrong with your outlook. It's not the left that is passing laws against a system that they can provide no proof of there being a problem yet insist that the laws are necessary. They are purposely suppressing the voting rights of a race that historically votes against the right's so called "values". Not only that, they are rigging the system that if the STILL lose, they can change the result because they are now the ones that make sure everything is on the up and up. That seems like controlling/eliminating the opposing opinion.
Post 259 is wrong and so is your outlook of the "policies" of the Republican party. They have no policies other than to say "NO" to any idea or policy the Democrats have and then complain that the other side doesn't listen.

Unfortunately, the democrats set the standard of ignoring anything and anyone they didn't like about 5 years ago.
When you are dealing with a group of incarcerated juvenile delinquents (and I have) you find you can't have any discussion and you can't educate them because they are off in la-la land in their own heads.
No sense trying, you have to let their situation get so bad they cave in and begin to look outside the BS they think they know. While they can't discuss, the will argue, demanding what they feel is fact and the rest of the world is stupid. This same experience is what I find myself in trying to discus with the left. No discussion is possible, because they respect nothing except they don't already believe..... and none of it seems to work with society. Worse- they neither notice nor care.

Everything coming out of the left depends on denial of a good part of the facts- and holding others responsible for the failures of their ideas and paying for their waste. You do get to where you don't bother to listen, to give consideration to their wild claims, because the BS is already over your high waders. When you refuse to recognize facts, you won't get recognized as having an opinion of any value at all. Rational people simply won't give such people the time of day, because they try to argue that too. Every morning, I look at the news knowing there will be some new lunacy that they think displaces common sense or proven values. Yesterday one of the reports showed a Biden bill saying we shouldn't refer to mothers as mothers anymore, but as "birthing persons". That is the kind of crap that you expect from people who have a long history with hallucinogenic drugs- not a rational adult. In the meantime, genuine crisis, most the results of the ideas of the left- and in dire need of rational action, and they seem blissfully unaware.
Tell me about "Policy"- these people have no idea what that is. They make things up as they go along, with no grasp of the effects on society.

IF and when the left ever recovers from these problems, the door to discussion is open. In the meantime- You have nothing of value to say as far as I'm concerned. This is sefl-destructive crap, nothing is necessary to make it collapse except for them to continue on their chosen course. It's already failing; falling apart- just a matter of time. The ugly part is the damage America is suffering because of it in the meantime.

I call out your veiled favism and explain why the political philosophy you embrace is practicing it and the argument you come back with is........"birthing persons". For someone that claims to be a "rational person" and that the "left" ignores facts and discussions it is you that does that all the time. "Genuine crisis"? You use the phrase and offer none to discuss. Why is that? I offered a topic to discuss that is a true crisis and you ignore it. How do you square that in your mind?
