No intelligent moral person will want to believe in the immoral gods that the mainstream have on offer. Why would anyone want a genocidal, homophobic and misogynous god, who is a failure as scriptures say only a few will follow that moral monster, while most of us know better and will end in hell for choosing a good god instead of a garbage god. Tell us why you like such a god. Moral people want to know how the immoral think. Regards DL
I see all such postings as people trying to reduce the harm that the mainstream genocidal, homophobic and misogynous god lovers are doing. Moral people would like to know. Immoral Christians just run away the moment morals come under discussion. I see no need to wonder why, but then again, I try to think in a moral way. Christians should try it. Regards DL
???? Would you not prefer to know why the whole world was unjustly condemned in the first place, for being and doing exactly what your god created us to be and do? Your god does creates and sustain us. right? Why is he creating such condemnable souls and maintain us as is to sin? Perhaps the answer lies in the hymn you sing that calls Adam's sin a happy fault and necessary to god's plan. If necessary, then sinning is good, just like you sing. Right? Regards DL
we've been through all that before, you and I, in other threads. Preach all you want, but must you include me in it? I'm still not converting for you...
Not to the biblical historians and archeologists I read. Only the immoral will not condemn the genocidal god you like to hell for his crimes against humanity. Regards DL
Pharaoh would disagree with your lie because of Yahweh putting hands on and hardening his heart. There are also many quotes that show we have no free will, but that none example should be all I require. Unless you want to lie to us more. Regards DL
Asking questions that you dodge is hardly preaching. We have not, as you run away from moral issues, like all immoral theists do. Regards DL
I've answered your questions numerous times. you equate my nonacceptance of your assertions as my not answering your questions. thank you but no like I said, preach all you want, but why link your preaching to my comments?
If you do not like my choice of your lies, just quote the last time you said anything about a god you cannot possibly know anything about, --- that is not speculative nonsense about the supernatural. Regards DL
clearly you're not even paying attention to those you respond to... ...because if you were, you would notice that I consistantly make it very clear that I'm not presenting facts, but rather my perspective. You can't debate someone if you won't even read what they're saying. Which means what you're doing here is just preaching.
You put a few lines of disclaimer in TLDR piece and you expect skimmers to get it. In a debate of the bible or religion, you need to choose what you are and which side you support. I am clear and you are not, so best to stay clear if you want to debate with me and stay away from word games. I read most of the day and if I miss a point, forgive or forget me. Regards DL
What are the 'sides' that I am to choose from? You make it sound like this is a team sport or something... Im not interested in endlessly repeating things that you skimmed over. Get back to me if/when you're willing to read (not skim) what I say.
One part ot the answer to your question is that each and every human life is a book...... comparable to one or more of the books of the Bible.... (except that it is in a form that is vastly beyond DVD or iMax ).... .... In the afterlife you will immediately have access to each and every human life.... all of their memories.... all that they learned...... even all the emotions that they felt as they experienced events in life..... Rabbi Alon Anava experienced a taste of this during his near death experience when he collapses over onto the girl in the taxi beside him..... he saw all of her memories from her childhood until the day of his near death experience. He also saw all of the lives in an entire apartment building as the taxi drove near to the building..... Is there life after death? Is G-od real? Jewish NDE (Near Death Experience) Rabbi Alon Anava The Creator invested infinite time in the past inventing life forms in the image of the Elohim.... and the fact that we understand so little during this part of our existence is important somehow.... (on one level our ignorance at this time is important so that we will have a deeper appreciate for the infinite understanding that we have once we leave this body and this world and four dimensional space - time).
If he intends us not to know, then why do holy books exist? Are they all false and written merely by men, with none of them being the word of God?
Not sure about Jolly - but I have read the book numerous times .. and have a far better understanding than you. What are these "Wrong assumptions" you are referring to ? Name one.
The idea of misinterpretation is valid IMO..... but the imagined "need" to know something is the problem...not the solution. In fact...learning to unknow would be more helpful. The truth is there is nothing to know. Yes...quite a profound statement IMO. That is what religions have done. Perhaps....but so far anyway...humans "knowing" something...like climate change for example, or that a pandemic can be deadly....doesn't really help much. You're not that far off course IMO.
Curious about that myself. I thought my OP was rather open and I didn't specify any God in particular. It was mostly the posing of a question. What assumptions did I make?
When in doubt - and no ability to deal with the message - demonize the messenger with a bunch of made up false accusations.
Yes...Me thinks what you said below.... "The 'laws' of the New Testament are more like a guide of how you can provide yourself and those around you with a more fulfilling life- love thy neighbor, do unto others as you would have them do unto you, be charitable to those in need, etc. You don't have to do any of these things, its just that the world would be a far better place if everyone chose to follow them." ...is exactly how the ten commandments and the...'laws' of the New Testament...have been interpreted. But is that what was intended by Jesus and the prophets? I don't believe so. Those so called "laws" or "commandments" are the fruit of what the wise ones were pointing to.... not the "rules" or "suggestions" for a better life that so called "Christians" use to justify insane behavior. Their favorite quote being "nobody's perfect". You seem to be hanging on to some "learned" Church type interpretations.... let go of all of them....observe what is left.
