Nothing was denied. Go back to the first Roe v Wade decision and notice how similar it is to that ruling.
You have presented NO justification for the Texas laws recently signed. And, you have failed to defend against the various serious impacts of these laws. So, your response above isn't shocking.
I prefer not to defend the TX law since it condones abortions. The law only reduces a time to decide if one is pregnant.
It is one step closer to making it illegal and making it illegal is clearly their goal. Stop pretending as if you do not know this.
It is a huge slap in the face of the principle of keeping Church and State separated. Aren't you a fan of Thomas Paine? You know he took a giant crap on religion, right?
These new Texas laws don't put in place this religious opinion of yours. That argument was well known before abortion was made constitutional by the US Supreme Court. .
TX did not create a religious law. I can't discuss things like that when your premise is wrong. Thomas Paine took a giant crap on the then Government of England.
So you want now to change the topic to religion. The Tx law takes us back to Roe V Wade but abortion is still legal. I hate abortions.
This is not an argument, but only an empty appeal to emotion. The aborted could not even think and was not even rational enough to know the concept of "mom" yet. Only born human beings can do that.
Yes, they did. Check out Texas Right To Life if you are uncertain about their motives. Or any other anti-abortion organisation for that matter. Yeah, hate to break it to you... But, your idol is not who you think he is. Check out Age of Reason or just googled what he had to say about religion. It is guaranteed to end your bromance. Paine is not your friend.
Religion is central to the debate since it is what drives your side of it. Pro-choicers are far too timid in pointing this out and if there is anything needed in abortion-debates, it is more dunking on religion and emphasis on keeping State and Church separated.
Women don't get to "decide" whether they are pregnant. Where the HELL did you dream THAT up? First, let's remember that conception is NOT IMMEDIATE. Then, remember that I cited you medical advice that there are reasons that immediate abortion is often advised against. Then, let's remember that if any form of prophylaxis is being used it's quite usual to NOT KNOW one is pregnant until 6 weeks OR MORE have passed. Do you need a biology primer? Is there any reason you refuse to consider medical advice? Beyond that, Texas has engineered multiple assaults on abortion, making it highly difficult to get medical advice and attention. It's pure sophistry to suggest that abortion is "available" when all medical facilities within HUNDREDS of miles have been closed by the state. And, that IS a reality in Texas. Or, are these women part of the group that you stated that you don't care about?
FoxHastings said: ↑ Why should you speak for your wives? Why bring personal crap into this? What two women MAY have said doesn't apply to the other billions of women and what they say and experience...... Post #79 ??? got a problem with it?? Yet ANOTHER new dodge from the Anti's... Uh, every post responded to is GOING BACK to a post !!!! Do you intend to not answer any more posts because it's "circling back " ???
No, I'm pointing out that you don't have any other justification for your assault on abortion beyond your hate - which for many people is based in their religion. You (and I!) hate some things humans do. But, we have to manage to find reason beyond hate for writing laws against others.
As I said; a religious law aimed at completely banning abortion. They state it openly and explicitly on their official webpage.
I do not believe those made the decision to create the law. Besides, after you read the following you will realize it was the Supreme Court itself that set this up for Tex to hit a home run. This case has become the litmus test for confirmation to the U.S. Supreme Court bench. No judge who comes out openly against Roe is likely to be confirmed. In Roe the Supreme Court ruled 7–2 that women have the right to an abortion, at least during the first trimester of pregnancy. The Court characterized abortion as a “fundamental” constitutional right, which means that any law aiming to restrict it is subject to the standard of strict scrutiny. In Planned Parenthood v. Casey (1982), the high court modified Roe by giving the state the right to regulate an abortion even in the first trimester as long as that regulation doesn’t pose an “undue burden” on the woman’s fundamental right to an abortion. One such “undue burden” identified in Casey was any requirement for the woman to notify her husband. A Texas law that placed certain restrictions on abortion clinics in the state was struck down by the Supreme Court 5–3 as placing an “undue burden” on abortion rights in Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt (2016). In Stormans Inc v. Wiesman (2016), a 5-justice majority on the Court refused to hear a challenge to a Washington state law making it illegal for pharmacists to refuse to dispense contraceptive drugs. In a dissent, Justice Alito, joined by Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Thomas, wrote: “This case is an ominous sign … If this is a sign of how religious liberty claims will be treated in the years ahead, those who value religious freedom have cause for great concern.”
They did. The SCOTUS failed their job on this issue. Every single politician and lawyer who pushed for this law should be impeached and the law should be trashed and thrown on the dump.
The GOP has become a party of no principles for Boomer Christains and Racists. They are not fighting The Left in any significant or fundamental way and the only question they still really care about is abortion (Constitution, freedom, capitalism and small government has all gone out the window). It is really sad to see that this is what the Conservatives have become.
