I want to simplify this for all of us. I want you to recall how it was in Korea. For Germany or Japan if you wish. What if the president armed North Korea. What if FDR had supplied arms to Germany or to Japan? Biden donated billions of dollars of weapons to the Taliban. That is a simple as it can be made. He changed them from rag tag rebels to a fully armed force. So the poll is simple. Was Biden right to arm the Taliban?
The vast majority of weapons “given” to the Taliban were from Afghan Security Forces surrendering them. Those were no longer US weapons, vehicles or equipment. The premise of this question is fraudulent
So Biden was supposed to take back the weapons given to the Afghan Security Forces to fight the Taliban because that would mean the Security Forces could have what? Fallen even more quickly giving Americans even LESS of a chance to get out? How does that work, Robert?
By sending in more troops? Kind of screws up the whole idea of ending a war, doesn't it? And meanwhile, the Chinese are selling the Taliban more weapons anyway. Trump lost 21 American Marines his first year in office doing just that. So, your way, more Americans die in the long run. Why do you hate American soldiers?
How so? Should Biden have seized the weapons given to the Afghans over the past 20 years and left them absolutely defenseless so you could have attacked him for that?
An M16 & It’s variants belongs on soldiers fighting for freedom, not a bunch of 13th century perverts. But, those things happen during surrenders. The reason they got the big stuff, like .50cals, and armored vehicles, artillery, and other equipment is because Biden overruled Trumps exit strategy. The plan that was in place was vetoed by Biden, and our military looks like fools because our military didn’t object to Biden’s bad decisions.
More then half the equipment left behind--for the Afghans to supposedly defend themselves until they turned into cowards and simply gave up--was left unusable by the American forces before they left there. There will be some scrap value no doubt and they have no avenue for replacement parts when the serviceable equipment finally needs new parts. Fully armed force? No way.
You simplified too much. This way, with only two black-and-white options, there is no way I'll vote, because the situation is far more complex than "Biden was wrong" or "Good job Biden."
They only disabled what they could. https://newsbrig.com/sen-bill-hagerty-demands-destruction-of-taliban-air-force/399658/
I think you have to go in and destroy the major ****. You just look incredibly dumb and weak to your enemies and allies.
I keep thinking - where are they going to get spare parts for all that stuff and how are they going to pay for it? N
Yes leaving the Taliban a Kings ransom in arms looks extremely tough to the world..... Having troops from other nations going rescue stranded Americans because our military won't look very tough too. Is it backwards day where you are?
Is he not aware that we left them equipment that we spent 20 years training them to use? I mean...that's why we LEFT them the equipment. In hopes that they would...you know? USE them. Or is this guy suggesting that we just left billions in military equipment that we knew the Afghanistan forces couldn't use? This guy is an idiot.
The Afghan forces whom all magically surrender to the Taliban within hours. So yeah...the Taliban. Beau's hot take is democrat dumb.
I keep thinking those troops who know how to use that equipment - they will be influencers yes? And there is still the point that equipment needs maintenance and repair and unless the Taliban go into Poppy production big time they are going to be short more than a few dollars.
Those troops are either Taliban loyalists or they will get a gun pointed at their head to pass on the information. As far a maintenance and repair? They will see some of their American given stash to repair the good stuff they want to keep. I mean this isn't rocket science. We gave them BILLIONS in equipment for ****'s sake.
