uu Me, if I loved them I would forgive them and not feel shame. But I guess you are not the type to forgive. I think the real shame of this country is letting blacks push us around.
That is completely contrary to the attitude towards the states at that time. For example, Lee fought for the South because Virginia was Southern.. It is questionable whether Lee believed in slavery. Lee, Robert E. and Slavery – Encyclopedia Virginia
Be careful when you speak in absolutes... absolutes have teeth that turn up at most unpleasant times.
He does that frequently even though I have pointed out how unlikely they were to occur and the impossibility of proving them.
White conservative religious southern democrats. Correct. That you are trying to paint over 80% of the characteristics here show your narrative.
So you admit it was not Republicans. Good enough for me. See I was a loyal Democrat. Back in the early late 30s, 40s and 50s, nobody even discussed slavery. We Democrats rather tried to tell others elect us and you will get a job. When WW2 broke out, sure enough using the formula used by Hitler, FDR cured the depression. So we as Democrats could brag we caused you to have a job. And the public was fooled. See my many decades of being a Democrat helps you understand our history totally.
Democrats not only fought the English, they fought Abe Lincoln over his desire to deport slaves. Democrats used them so did not want them deported.
You think of voting for a political party as if it were an affiliation to a cult. I believe when I was a loyal Democrat, that is perhaps true. But to be a Republican means I spent hours on many books and listening to experts and that was good enough to cause me to depart the Democrats but not in the 1960 era you speak of, but two decades later in the 1980s. Thomas Paine was no Democrat. And I took his lessons to heart. I started focusing not on party, but on freedom. My anti tax lectures are about freedom. My anti Democratic party lectures are about freedom. As Goldwater said, and to ensure accuracy on my part, simply watch and listen to Goldwater.
Did you know that General Lee thought that slavery was evil? Making Sense of Robert E. Lee | History | Smithsonian Magazine No Golem, not everyone that fought in the civil war in the south was pro-slavery. Some found it to be evil. Just like today there are people with in the same groups that don't always agree with their groups beliefs/ideologies the same was true during the civil war. Humans have never been monolithic. Even with in their own "tribes".
I think they defend preserving historical monuments, not slavery. We all know the party responsible for their freedom and it sure as hell wasn’t the left I personally am ok with the removal of some confederate statues but the problem is we know it won’t end there. Some people like to focus on the bigger picture and are not instant gratification based What’s next?
They can't use Robert E Lee as their whipping boy over slavery. Lee believed in his state. And he believed Lincoln was wrong to invade any state, much less VA.
Prior to my seeing the enormous Robert E Lee statue in Richmond, VA some years ago, to me it was a Statue. But the work put into making that statue was magnificent. It reminded us all who saw it that Robert E Lee was willing and very able to fight for his own state.
Thank you. The video is profound. It shows that bigotry knows no color boundary. And it proves Democrats are not saints. Recall it was the White Bigot that destroyed the mans window to his home. The Black had not tossed the rock.
Can you name the religion of the 12 presidents what owned slaves? I will freely admit it was likely to be Democrats founding the nation. But they made sure to include slavery in our Government. I also admit that the jerk Abraham Lincoln, who did not fight against slavery, fought against states rights. And at the time those were paramount to all founders.
You do you but I don’t believe anyone today is responsible for what the religious white conservative southerners did 150 years ago. So you feel the party was corrupt when you were a member and now the one you moved to is corrupt. I guess membership is absolutely to blame.
And it is not getting better. I believe that blacks should be entitled to around 12 percent of jobs in TV ads. But now they seem to amount to close to 50 percent of the ads. And we get Democrats who fought for slavery yapping they now at long last, decades past the end of the war, want it to stop. Too late Democrats. You got your chance to end slavery and you fought a war to keep it.
You are the sole poster I believe to ever make such claims. I know you are wrong. Democrats fought hard to keep slaves. Republicans did the opposite. You speak of the 1960s yet in America there were no black slaves. So what your trick is is called misdirection. You change the topic to evade using the word Democrats.
You think the 1960’s was 150 years ago? Are you ok? You ommit 5 other characteristics to focus on one — and you believe omitting one is evasion… fascinating
The religious white conservative southerner’s? Correct? Do you have a source that zero Republicans participated?
And if you can’t separate your emotion towards an institution that you’ve never even seen firsthand long enough to realize that the modern day policies that your party want to push because of it are stupid as hell and rife with ignorance, then you’ve got more problems than the evils of something that hasn’t existed for over 150 years. Can’t even imagine what your emotions would be like with stuff that actually impacts you. No wonder your party loves terrorists so much, they get to use and abuse all that anger in any fashion they like.
