Yeah, they feel guilty and end up virtue signaling by demanding statutes get torn down, like Soviet leaders airbrushing people out of photographs. They’re not fooling anyone with their phony moralizing.
I would rather it be a daily habit than it being on every post like yours. I am not the one triggered by the fact that slave owners were white, religious, conservative southerner’s. You want to just apply the Democratic label to them and ignore the facts here when they are inconvenient. I would say “stop it” but I doubt that is possible. Propaganda and willful ignorance (with a hint of trolling) are often so ingrained they cannot be easily removed.
Yes! I admit it! I am very prejudiced against slavery!!!! And I am shocked by the number of people who jumped into this thread only to attack my original comment, in which I said that we should all be ashamed of slavery. Very unexpected. And very unsettling, to say the least.
Which characteristic do you believe is incorrect? That southerners held slaves? Or religious individuals? Or white people? Or conservatives? I am not surprised that you don’t see the facts here. That is consistent at least.
The “facts” you mention are irrelevant to whether the statues should or should not be removed Your opinion on this is exactly what I said, opinion. Let me tell you something else to consider, my hometown in upstate NY held a POW camp for Confederate soldiers. About 2000 died and are buried there in a federal cemetery, buried under the supervision of a runaway slave from Virginia then living in the town as a free man. He buried those men with dignity and honor for having fought to defend their families. That man has far more humanity and understanding of history than you will ever have. I am proud of that man and ashamed of some of the posters on this forum.
Interesting. I see several points in this video. Most are- that people alter their own reality by the perceptions they have.... including creating animosity or anger that was never there in others. All those who want to convince us that we are bad, we are evil, we are incapable- all who want to destroy our pride in ourselves... harm us all. Anytime a person perceives themselves as being a victim or believes that others have totally pre-judged them, usually create their own outcome. If you are unable to give others a chance, if you are eager to see them as your prejudice defines them- you probably will. That never proves you were right; it proves you are your own problem. A basic concept that has been common in America is that each of us are responsible for ourselves. Neither the events that happen are responsible for you feelings- you are. What happens is far less important than how we chose to respond to it. That is what matters and makes the difference, because that is what determines the future. Maybe some who watch this will begin to see that.
John Jones, runaway slave and man of dignity and honor. https://www.johnwjonesmuseum.org/ “The Museum commemorates his life and work as an Underground Railroad Station Master who safely assisted approximately 800 fugitives’ flight to Canada and was responsible for the dignified burial of nearly 3000 Confederate soldiers.”
That is not the story of slaves. Northerners trafficked in Slaves. Northerners for years owned slaves. Non religious loved owning slaves. Blacks owned slaves. Back then the only conservatives were in England after losing the war.
I drove down highway 15 and was perhaps 20 miles from Elmira. However the trip from Buffalo to Hershey gave me a good flavor for the lay of that part of PA and NY State in that area. I did not have spare time to visit each town.
I am only discussing the characteristics of the individuals — as led on by @Robert. If you feel it is off topic feel free to discuss it with him as the point was introduced. Again, which opinion are you speaking of? You haven’t listed exactly what you disagree with or are you just attacking a position that hasn’t been made? Your opinion of me or my accomplishments mean less to me than you could possibly imagine. If people like you are ashamed then I am on the right track.
Look, carry fake guilt with you and I do not mind that. Men murder women. I am not going to be ashamed since I never have. Humans molest children. I am not ashamed for never having done that. Well over a hundred years ago, Democrats owned slaves. I am not ashamed since I never owned slaves. But if you want to be ashamed, by all means be ashamed.
FoxHastings said: ↑ LOL, you have NEVER produced proof that the Democrats and Republicans 150 years ago are the same as they are now...NEVER.... You have NEVER produced proof that what were called Republicans 150 years ago never owned slaves. Uh, no, to show that your views show some validity....but you can't prove what you say so I don't see any validity. .....
The Video was not about slaves. Please do not keep misrepresenting my own posts. I notice Democrats are triggered to the point they deny they owned slaves and try to put the blame on others. When presented with true stories about slaves, such as mswan presents, that caused a hell of a lot of resentment and not by republicans. Calling slave owners religious seems to be a contradiction. Alleging they are loyal to England at the time makes no sense. That is what a Conservative was.
What of my views do you not accept? Why did the Video trigger you? I never proved Robert E. Lee rode a horse either but what point do you want to make?
Look all I Know about you is from things you claim. And I note you do not mind making some false claims. So if you now are ready to discuss the video, have a time of your life telling us why the white man that smashed the window fled? When he fled, he left the black man to things that may have hurt the black man. The black man could have got blamed for what the white man did.
In a way I can see them justifying that Abraham Lincolns statue at DC in the huge building get removed. But not Robert E. Lee.
Ironic that As to Republicans not being “triggered” that requires them to take some responsibility for themselves or their ideology — largely religious, southern, white, conservative — which we both know is outside their realm of reasoning. seeing Ironic to see you accuse Democrats of items that occurred 150 years ago but then you cannot even acknowledge any of the other characteristics. Agenda — it’s obvious

I never watched the video....so where did you get the idea it "triggered" me??? Or was that question just an attempt to deflect from the FACT that you can't address what's actually in my post ? WTF!??? LOL....Yes, I know you can't address my post but why are you making it more and more obvious with comments about horses ?? LOLOLOLOLLOLO:LL
I will be damned. That con job is dishonest. I was then a Democrat. At the time the word Southern strategy was not heard of. I did not know of it until Democrats made it their excuse in the 1990s. Clinton was president. I changed from being a Democrat to republican in the 1980s. And it has nothing to do with blacks. It was economics. There is no way on earth any Democrats would change parties over something done in the 1960s by Nixon. Since it was not the Southern Strategy and I lived in CA, let me tell you my reason. Carter had managed to create conditions or be involved to the point interest rates went to record levels. I sold homes. Agents were losing jobs by the hundreds of thousands. I knew inflation had to be stopped. Biden has to be stopped now for the same reason Carter had to be stopped. If this causes a rush of Democrats to be republicans, splendid. I welcome them.
