focus on the USA are you paying today more at the pump per gallon than a year ago? The answer is yes what party is in control in the USA? The answer is Democrat cause/effect You voted for this mess; I hope you like paying more for everything
Above all, let's not try to understand the why of things, it's much too complicated. In fact, you don't want to know more because I am destroying your argument. Do yourself a favor, go to Canada, France, the UK, Mexico and Saudi Arabia and see if Biden is responsible for the increase in the price of oil there too. Which party was in power when Covid19 hit the US and killed 500,000 Americans? Trump and the GOP Cause/effect.
fadictory claims. Here are some oil companies that we're on the verge of bankruptcy. The issue that is repeated in every article is as I remembered it last year. The oil supply far exceeded consumer demand, so prices dropped. I don't see how my statements about current and imminent bankruptcies contradict. Both can be true. BTW... The same issue with cheap oil occurred in 2016. 250 companies to file bankruptcy https://frontpagelive.com/2020/07/14/fracking-companies-bankruptcy/ Okay. Now you're claiming that most of the jobs were done by foreign workers. 200 thousand jobs were cut. This an article amount American men that lost their jobs in the oil industry. Come on. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/oct/20/unemployment-men-lose-job-self-esteem I'm not going to continue addressing silly points. You say the US is one country that dominates the oil service industry and then claim that most of them work overseas. No. There were gulf and shale workers that lost their jobs. And it's totally ludicrous to say that these companies filed Chapter 13 bankruptcy and then say they didn't file bankruptcy. I read some of the cases, and it was exactly as I described. These companies were carrying too much debt secured by the oil, and were unable to survive when prices dropped. The collatoral was too low to cover expenses and debt obligation. The future prices are too risky for investors to come in during Chapter 13, and Phase capital is not distributed under lending agreement for exploration and drilling.
oh, sorry, for some reason I thought I was replying to drluggit when I replied to you. He was the one saying it is unfeasible. Yeah, I think we need the academic knowledge of our scientists, who seem mostly on the left, combined with the practical experience that is found more on the right. Really, we need to ditch ideologies of left and right and just get people with good ideas and make them work. Cooperation and compromise without ridiculous political dogma.
it is exactly your position that keeps this as a near term issue. We need to do the hard but correct thing instead of just kicking the problem down the road. The longer we wait, the more painful the switch will be.
How old are you? Gas prices being boosted leading up to vacation season and before major holidays is a time-honored tradition under presidents of both parties for about 90 years now.
The Democrats. They were the ones impeaching the President during the crisis. They wouldn't take it seriously. They didn't want to shut the airports. They paraded around China town for ice cream even though they knew the virus came from China. They were the ones that mandated the nursing home policies that caused the exponential growth in deaths in NY, NJ, MA, and other states. They were the ones that resisted any help from Trump, and lied about covid numbers and appropriation of supplies from the Federal government. They were the ones that prolonged the shutdowns so they could destroy the economy, and encouraged violent riots across the United States. They were the ones that financed gain-of-function research through the past decade, and the President's son owned an interest in an investment company that financed a partnership with the Wuhan Laboratory. They were the ones that pushed for the censorship that prevented us from learning about the virus in late 2019, and their media friends refused to cover the story when it was going around the internet. US presidents can pressure nations to lower the price of oil by increasing the worldwide supply. In fact, Trump had accomplished the opposite in 2020, and there was always a plan to increase production when the shutdown ended. There's numerous news article on the topic. Biden failed to increase the supply. He botched our relationship with the Saudis, and now finds himself begging countries to increase supply.
The oil and gas industries have cut their expenditures on new source exploration production by two thirds since the Obama administration.
Sure, and to get from one to the next takes anywhere from 30minutes for a less than full battery to over night. So every 2-300 miles you have to stop, get a hotel room, sit and wait for your car to be ready. Sounds Super awesome if you have a tone of money and time. If, as the folks are suggesting, fossil fuels bad, the hybrid doesn't resolve their fundamental problem which still requires you to use gasoline/biofuels, etc. I have a hybrid. Works somewhat, I get better mileage than comparable gas cars, but I still go through a lot of gas on long trips using the hybrid. It certainly hasn't eliminated my continued consumption of fossil fuel though. I don't see conspiracy though. I see pragmatism. And when democrats in those dark rooms start telling their faithful that citizens shouldn't be trusted with mobility, that they are the threat, I'm simply responding to their version of conspiracy. Tell you what. You guarantee that electric cars have unlimited range and effortless charging absent any limitation on range or speed, let's talk. Until then, this is how artificial scarcity is implemented. Go to California and see it for yourself. Power is (in this case) power. Meaning that who controls the energy has the power to force you as a deplorable to comply. There isn't a notion of implicit freedom to be sovereign at that point, it's simply coercion to comply. And given the way democrats are operating these days, they fully expect you to comply or face their jack booted thugs. That isn't conspiracy, that's facts.
So what? To 3/4ths of America (those outside of the Newsmax, Alex Jones, Trump Bubble) a few more dollars at the pump is a small price to pay to have gotten rid of that America-Destroying Imbecilic Disgrace (named Donald Trump).
Not only fuel, proteins to, all meat has/is skyrocketing.... All that aside, just wait, let winter set in, then we sit back and watch the poor 86 the DNC People just forget how well they had it, but as they say, "Money talks and bullshit walks".. Best way to piss off people is to raise prices faster then they can earn money, call me a masochist, but enjoy watching this happen every time a Dem takes the helm!!!
That's what you'll need to replace fossils, well unless you're one of those true believers that bought in to solar and wind will answer the demand for electricity, you know the magic sparky thing that makes EV's go zoom!!
Solar and wind are not much better for the environment than oil, so no. Well, best estimates we have less than 50 years of oil remaining before it takes more energy to reach and extract it than it actually provides. That is at current usage rates. But because the economy grows exponentially, not linearly, we will reach that point much sooner. Something will have to replace it by then, so I hope someone has been working on it. Maybe if we were not so hell bent on continuing our fossil fuel addiction we could have it figured out by now. What do you think will come after fossil fuels? Or are you one of those guys that think our energy returns on investments will stay in positive territory forever? It’s a fairytale, one that is coming to an end soon. Hopefully not a tragic one. Here is some data for you https://ourworldindata.org/fossil-fuels
we are, just costing us more at the pumps, Republicans wanted that I guess republicans forgot that American oil cost more than cheap foreign oil "Trump threatens 'very substantial' tariffs on imported oil if Saudi Arabia and Russia can't reach a deal to push prices back up" https://www.insider.com/trump-threatens-saudi-arabia-russia-oil-tariffs-2020-4
really? Why not ask some folks as they pay $20 (or more) more to fill their tanks if they like it? Also, all costs go up when fuel costs increase
What do you think ANY president could do in the near term to reduce worldwide oil prices? Give it a go, let's see if your plan holds water. And, please not the old keystone pipeline cra&.
We can distill oils bro You frying eggs in 30 weight Pennzoil Science! But if you'd care to go against indoctrination here is some interesting reading and video Fossil Fuel Hoax; Another Massive Lie! | Aplanetruth.info
Oh, please, not the abiotic oil crackpot theory again. Simple question: If oil was constantly regenerated through abiotic mechanisms, why is it that oil is getting more and more difficult and expensive to extract? Go ahead, answer the question. The answer will debunk the abiotic oil theory.
what is the energy return on investment for such processes? How does it compare to nuclear? I’m guessing it is wayyy more energetically expensive to artificially make oil.
