trump did some good things — some very needed things. But he also botched many more. You can try and act like the media was only wrongly biased against him and that everyone that hated him for things like retweeting the only good Democrat is a dead democrat or his attempts to undermine every federal agency with hyper partisans he could influence or further pushing us to unsustainable debt practices so he could have his failed trade wars and tax cuts or pushing known lies in attempts to steal a national election… The media reaction to him was accurate if not more kind that it should have been.
Just off the top of your head — how many women do you believe have “come forward” on trump? How many have you immediately ignored? Destruction of norms is one of the many initial signs he didn’t even remotely care about the future implications of his actions. It is ironic that the people that support him are usually the same ones screaming about tradition. That he brought out the absolute worse in people — both left and right — is another concern. Ok — want to do average GDP growth vs spending? What about faith in our institutions? Trust in government? Number of scandals? Number of convictions in the administration? Peaceful transfer of power? How about comparison of which one tried to steal a national election? Russian collusion did occur according to numerous investigations, one of which was led by Republicans. That everyone around him was a criminal — people he hired — would show a normal person that he was also. Just because he has enough experience to put a separation between them doesn’t negate this.
Perhaps. But a black skin president woke them up. The fear of white males losing power grip scared them.
It was republicans who pushed for trade agreements with other countries. They were the authors of NAFTA, Regan tried hard to get it passed under his terms. The trade agreements that sent jobs out of country.
On several occasions online, I pointed out and acknowledged a shortcoming of Trump then challenged the other side to do likewise about Biden. Never once did I get a response.
I am going to say the Republicans were on this first but the Dems also were fully on board once big money campaign donations were forth coming from Big Business. If I recollect correctly, the federal government even subsidized free trade outsourcing of jobs by Big Business.
Reagan started the trade agreement with Canada. Later during Bush senior, Mexico wanted to join. The agreement was written up during the Bush Sr. administration and passed by Congress under the Clinton administration. Congress wanted to look over the agreement and see if they agreed with it, but the Clinton administration also wanted it and didn't want Congress picking it apart and asked for a Fast Track vote on it, which means all Congress could do is pass it or turn it down. Clinton and President Carter and other high officials pushed hard on Congress to pass it just the way it was, and they did. But NAFTA was way to slanted in Mexico's favor. www.ontheissues.org › Celeb › Jimmy_Carter_FreeJimmy Carter on Free Trade Al and I had called or seen two hundred members of Congress, and the cabinet had made nine hundred calls. President Carter also helped, calling members of Congress all day long for a week. www.baltimoresun.com › news › bs-xpm-1993/09/15Four presidents join to push NAFTA Bush, Carter, Ford stand ... Sep 15, 1993 · Four presidents join to push NAFTA Bush, Carter, Ford stand by Clinton. WASHINGTON -- For months, supporters of the North American Free Trade Agreement have
Reagan had nothing to do with NAFTA. He made a trade agreement with Canada only. Remember it was under Clinton that trade with China was passed, along with NAFTA.
And, the Republican Congress, was in power under Clinton when this trade with China was passed. Both sides of the aisle sold out to Big Business money.
I highly doubt that. He has a bad temper, he frequently acts without thinking and appears overly defensive. Hell, left wing media regularly criticizes Biden. I frankly don't know many people who truly like the guy, they just saw him as a better option.
Trump had many faults, that is true, but if you talk about who did the most damage to America and maybe the world, it has to be that good looking, smooth talking President just before Trump, Obama. Up until that virus hit us, America had the hottest economy on the planet. Middle Class had seen their highest wage gain ever and the minorities had seen their lowest unemployment in their recorded history. Obama's economy was a failure. His fighting ISIS was a failure too. Obama gave into Russia all the time. Trump was much harder on them. The world changed for the worst under Obama. His lack of fighting ISIS caused thousands of deaths. Millions of homeless and millions of Muslims fleeing to Europe for their lives. Europe and America will never be the same again after that.
After Clinton declared Fast Track Authority, there was nothing Congress could do but pass it or turn it down. They weren't allowed to make any changes in it. As I pointed out, they had plenty of pressure on them from the Left. But your right, both sides sold out
Rigged or otherwise, voting has proven not to be able to fix anything. We just change the names on the doors.
I don't know if Trump was the worst US president, but this is what I don't like about him: He is a pathological liar, he lies when it make sense and when it doesn't. He is very corrupted, he prefers his personal benefits over benefits of American people: https://www.businessinsider.com/tru...ons-to-trump-organization-tied-project-2018-5 He gave to himself and to his wealthy friends PERMANENT 14% tax cut, while to the working Americans only TEMPORARY 2-4% cut. In order to save his real estate in Turkey he sold Kurds to Erdogan: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trump_Towers_Istanbul His performance during the coronavirus was terrible. While telling that is is going to “drain the swamp”, he created his cabinet with crooks and lobbyist: https://www.opensecrets.org/trump/lobbyists He dodged the military service, but doubted Senators McCain patriotism: He tried to destroy American Democracy by spreading lies that he won 2020 elections.
That is a tall order for you to prove. So I wait on your proof. Sounds to me like you are a fan of the MSM who trashed Trump prior to his swearing in. Notice the incapable Biden is getting away with murder and the media likes his nonsense. (inept way of handling the Taliban, open wide borders, importing the more deadly virus called Delta Variant. Also Biden now faces a worse virus also from China. We do not even hear that Biden allows Warp Speed to operate. You can always count on Democrats to engage in trash talk.
You are correct. But to say Rs were always for Americans and jobs is not accurate. That is my main point. They pushed hard for trade agreements. Which let jobs leave to low wage countries. NAFTA had retraining money knowing people were going to be out of jobs.
In 1992, NAFTA was signed by outgoing President George H.W. Bush, Mexican President Salinas, and Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney. Earlier that year, the European Union had been created by the Treaty of Maastricht https://www.thebalance.com/history-of-nafta-3306272 Clinton was president when Congress passed it. R congress if my memory is correct. So again,. Rs were not always for American workers.
If the media treats Biden the way they treated Trump, Biden will go down as the most hated president. Bar none.
I think both sides thought increasing trade would help the American worker by making more things for other countries. Trouble is, they didn't require these countries to pay a min. wage or keep any kind of pollution standard as we have here, which allowed them to sell their products much cheaper that America couldn't compete with them. With millions of people in China, Canada and Mexico, there is very little we can sell the average person. Most of our exports are to their government, their manufactures, or service industries. Big ticket items. We didn't take in all the things we should have making up the trade agreement. Only one person did and he was who I voted for in Clinton's first term. That was Ross Perot. He hit the nail on the head when he said pass NAFTA and NAFTA 20TH ANNIV - PEROT GIANT SUCKING SOUND - YouTube .
