Sure, there were concentration camps in America, Australia and many other places.
And these were invented by the British during the Boer War
But how they differ from Axis concentration camps WW2 is subtle but important. I am
Australian and I know Australians bayonetted Japanese prisoners and straffed Japanese
troops in the water. But we have to be aware of actions by the allies that were on an
individual level, or were tactical or defensive - as compared to broad govt policy of
intimidation, racial cruelty or an attempt at total extermination of a people or culture.

No, Stalin saw how Britain effectively used radio against Germany, and visa versa -
he didn't want any Lord Haw Haw or Churchills beamed into the Soviet Union. Having
an unauthorized radio was a death sentence.
Images of the millions of starved and dying Ukrainians are rare - you can see they were
    taken from concealed vantage points.

Please don't engage in moral equivalency when it comes to Lennin and Stalin - the
world had never seen anything like their behavior before. It was soon to be repeated in
    China.

You can't say that - you need to answer WHY you are 'not convinced.'
If someone carefully marshalls their facts, presents their reasoning and
conclusions then you need to do the same.

In the last Soviet Five Year Plan before the USSR dissolved, people were starving. Remember, the state owned all the land and all the food it produced. Whether the farmers worked hard, or drank hard instead, it made no difference. Their compensation was set by the state. In desperation, the state gave 5% of the land to the farmers to work for their own personal profit. That 5% soon outproduced the other 95%. This was just another straw in the final demise of the USSR.

Lenin and Stalin are the greatest philosophers and humanists of world importance.
No one before them was able to create and at the same time implement the concept of a humanistic society with 100% free education of any level for all citizens of the country, with 100% free medicine of any level and complexity for all citizens of their country, with free housing that any citizen of their country could get. , with unparalleled economic growth in world history reaching 36%. No country in the world in the entire history of mankind has been able to achieve such an indicator. (For example, Japan has a maximum of 15.3%, China has a maximum of -14.8%)
Any citizen of the USSR could achieve development and disclosure of his potential. (The son of the poor peasant Gagarin became the first cosmonaut in the history of mankind, the son of the poor peasant Zhukov became a marshal and accepted the surrender of Germany ... from different strata of the population a person could become a scientist, actor, engineer, minister, general ...)
And this is all thanks to Lenin and Stalin. They are from a backward country with an illiterate population, they created a country with the second economy in the world, which controlled half of the world.
One example. in 1945, the worst war in the history of mankind ended, the USSR was completely destroyed, 28 million Russians (the youngest and most economically active) were killed in the war ... and 15 years later Gagarin flew into space. For the first time in the history of mankind.
Therefore, you need to study real history, but not read anti-Soviet propaganda.

You write surprisingly absurd comments about the USSR that it is even unbelievable that a person can be so illiterate. Are you just trolling?
As for the ownership of agricultural land, I can tell you that almost all of this land belonged to kolkhozs.
Judging by your comment, you need to explain what kolkhozs is.
Kolkhoz - stands for "Collective farm". In modern terms, kolkhoz is an agricultural complex.
This is a non-state agricultural enterprise. This is the unification of peasants into a single farm. Therefore, to write about the fact that someone gave someone land and therefore ..... this is complete nonsense.
Further. There was no famine in the late USSR. Those who say that there was hunger are lying. In the late USSR, there were problems with some types of goods and products (and there were really a lot of these items), but the fact that people were starving is a lie.
But you need to know the reasons for the shortage of goods in the late USSR. The deficit occurred because there was a policy of certain structures aimed at overthrowing the government and changing the political and economic system.
If you understand Russian, I can send you a link to a video showing how the deficit was specially organized in the USSR. (maybe you have a friend who speaks Russian or your browser has artificial intelligence capable of translating text from a video, write to me and I will send you a link to the source. By the way, in the Russian browser Yandex has the ability to translate videos. Try. In general, I am ready to provide you with a link at your first request)

May I ask what part of Russia you are posting from? And are your posts subsidized by the Russian government? Your commitment to communism seems a bit outdated, even from someone like you who are still trying to hang onto the old order. I find your commitment to Communism after the dissolution of the Soviet Union very similar to many in the American South who stayed committed to the Confederacy for many years after the Confederacy dissolved. If I was a psychologist instead of an engineer I might be tempted to analyze the common elements of your commitment to communism and the commitment many Southern Americans held for some years after the collapse of the Confederacy. There must be some common elements in human nature which motivates this. But, like I say, I am an engineer, not a psychologist.

    Bit its still fascinating.

    Addition.
I saw in your comment the phrase that photographs of starving Ukrainians are rare. I would like to comment on your phrase.
In 1932-1933 there was a famine in the USSR. This is true. This is due to very bad weather conditions for several years in a row. And also with the economic pressure of the West on the USSR. Let me explain - the USSR was industrializing its country. Since no modern machine tools and technologies remained from tsarist Russia (I wrote to you above - before the USSR, Russia was a backward country with an illiterate population.), It was necessary to buy modern technologies and machine tools. But the fact is that during the period of terrible crop failure, developed countries sold technologies and equipment exclusively in exchange for grain. They refused gold and demanded grain in payment. (In this way, they hoped to provoke mass protests from society.) This also affected the shortage of food.
There are several more reasons for the famine in the USSR in those years, but this is for a separate post. There was famine throughout the USSR, but not only in Ukraine.
And the worst famine was in the Volga region. Where people were really dying of hunger. The Volga region is not Ukraine. That is why the bulk of the photographs were taken in the Volga region. Just because these are "hotter" photos. And there are many such photos. By the way, these photos were also published in the leading newspapers of the USSR.
Compared to the Volga region, we can say that Ukraine was a prosperous region.
And as you understand - everything is cognized in comparison.
Read The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck, in which he described what was happening in the United States at the same time. But why don't you write about this?
And I also want to note - specifically in Ukraine in 1932-1933 (and in subsequent years) the population increased. It did not die out, but it increased. There was a contraction in growth, but there was growth. In the United States, the population was dying out. This is for comparison.

For the modern leadership of Russia, adherence to the ideas of communism is like a black mark. Putin hates communists.
Therefore, if someone from the Russian begins to write about adherence to the communist ideology, then it will clearly not be a supporter of the Russian authorities.
Now to the point. I am a supporter of communist ideas because I studied real documents. And I saw how society during the period of building socialism (as Lenin wrote - "Socialism is the first, underdeveloped stage of communism, which retained the rudiments of the old system. Such, for example, money") from a poor, illiterate, backward Russia turned into a great country, with the second economy in the world and controlled half of the world.
But in order to understand what happened in the USSR during the reign of Comrade Stalin, I advise you to read short notes by the famous German writer Leon Feuchtwanger. His notes are called "Moscow 1937".
    Here's a link - read online https://www.revolutionarydemocracy.org/archive/feucht.htm
Feuchtwanger traveled around the USSR and wrote what he saw. Nobody restricted him in movement. Therefore, he wrote about both positive aspects and negative ones. I advise you to read.

I can say whatever I like. I have no respect for a Russian propagandist. I should stop responding to him but my interest in entertainment leads me continue. His facts are wrong. I actually lived through the times he was describing. Schooling him would only add creedence to his propaganda.

Winston Churchill "The Second World War" Vol. 5, Part 2. Ch. 2
“That evening we all dined with Stalin at the Yusupov Palace. The speeches delivered at dinner were recorded and can be reproduced here. By the way, I said:
“I do not resort to exaggeration or florid compliments when I say that we consider the life of Marshal Stalin to be the most precious treasure for our hopes and our hearts. There have been many conquerors in history. But only a few of them were statesmen, and most of them faced with the hardships that followed their wars, scattered the fruits of their victories. I sincerely hope that the life of the Marshal will be preserved for the people of the Soviet Union and will help all of us move closer to less sad times than those we have experienced recently. "
I walk around this world with greater courage and hope, when I realize that I am in friendly and close relations with this great man, whose fame has spread not only throughout Russia, but throughout the world. "
And, if we continue to quote Churchill ... On November 7, 1945, Churchill delivered a speech in the House of Commons, where, in particular, he spoke about Stalin:
"I personally cannot feel anything other than the greatest admiration for this truly great man, the father of his country, who ruled the fate of his country in times of peace and a victorious defender in times of war."

    Ahahaha :roflol::roflol::roflol:..... "... for a Russian propagandist." :roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol:... "His facts are wrong.":roflol::roflol::roflol: ....
But why don't you refute the "wrong" facts? Can you show at least some arguments in support of your words?
And by the way, your phrase "I can say whatever I like" looks especially funny against the background of the fascist censorship that exists in the United States, where in some states the works of great American writers, such as Mark Twain, are edited, removing from his works the words "n ....." and replacing it with a more tolerant one. ("n ....." - you have to write in hints to get around the fascist censorship.). And where monuments to great American figures are being destroyed.
Surprisingly, the madmen destroyed the Columbus monument in a fit of inadequacy. At the same time, Columbus, according to racial definition, is more Latinos than white.

    Not buying the Stalinist argument.
STARVATION IS A NORMAL PART OF COMMUNIST NATIONS.
ie North Korea today. China in the 1960s. Russia in the 1930's.
Coming soon - Venezuela. On the margins - Cuba.
Photos of the enforced famine in Ukraine showed people lying
in the streets. Citizens were not allowed to help them. This is well
remembered in Ukraine. The Communists came and requisitioned
for the state both the foodgrain and the seed grain.
In a Capitalist society people either
    a - shift
b - have food or aid brought in
There's no famine, and there hasn't been a famine in Western society
since... I would say... the potato famine. 170 years ago.

Grapes of wrath was a left wing view of the drought in the mid west
during the Great Depression. Studies have shown that most of the
people who endured that time are still there today. Many 'Oakies'
shifted to California. You see little exhibits to them at various towns
along that route. There weren't tens of millions of dead people,
denied 'passports' within their own nation to shift. Nor was the govt
seizing their grain or jailing/killing anyone who helped them. What
you are on about is Moral Equavalency between liberal democratic
    nations and Communism.

This was the same Churchill that later said that Stalin had thrown an "Iron Curtain" over Europe... LOL... one says what one must for the times. Stalin helped defeat Hitler, then became the enemy.

Actually, Stalin was the enemy BEFORE WW2 and AFTER WW2.
Stalin AND Hitler invaded Poland, the trigger for that war. Many of
the bombs falling on England were made in Russia.
Even during the war the 'West' was still the enemy. We had a dear
old man die here recently who was in the Merchant Navy and he
did the Murmansk run. He was afraid of two things - the German
submarines and the Russians. He risked his life to help the Soviets
but he said that if he fraternized with the Russians, or moved more
than a few meters away from his ship at the docks then he would
'dissapear.' That was your 'Cold War' happening right there in 1943.
And it was already starting when Lennin arrived back in Russia.

You are writing blatant nonsense. Show me photographs of people dying of hunger in the USSR and it is forbidden for them to help.
You write such blatant nonsense that it’s even surprising. Therefore, I ask you to show proof.

It is correct to say this - Churchill and Roosevelt helped defeat Hitler.
Don't forget who stormed Berlin and who helped. So don't be confused.

And if you say that Churchill's quotes do not matter, then I don't understand why you started citing these quotes. I just kept on quoting.

And further. The Iron Curtain was not created by Stalin. It was the West who tried to shield their countries with a Iron curtain from the growing influence of communist ideas on the proletariat of their countries. What Churchill stated on March 5, 1946 in his Fulton speech and marked the beginning of the Cold War.

Learn real history, but not anti-Soviet propaganda.

The Iron Curtain was built by the Soviets to contain eastern populations. I lived in Germany for many years before it came down. I stood in the 2d ACR sector and saw the border. There was a chain link fence built by the east. For ten feet on their side for the length of it was a sandy are, made smooth every morning so that the Russians could detect footprints. For 2 kilometers back from the fence, only residents were allowed. I watched as Russian Soldiers rode along on the East German tractors. The fence itself was mined with small hand-grenade style devices which were often set off by birds, requiring extensive fence mending.

The portable watch towers manned by the Russians were moved routinely, so as to prevent escapees from planning properly. The two-man towers were manned by by Soldiers from different parts of the USSR who spoke different languages, since the Russians themselves often tried to make a break for it. Not speaking the same language discouraged this.

In the distance you could see the disrepair of the East German farmhouses. Some of the damage dating back to the war. On one of my visits, our guide told us to look at a small group of cows in the distance. He asked if we noticed anything. It turned out that they never moved. They were wooden silhouettes, designed to make observers think the farmers were prosperous. Escapees from the east were routinely encountered.

I had a German Army Lieutenant Colonel friend. When the wall finally came down he was reunited with a female cousin he hadn't seen in decades. She stayed with him for a few days. All her life she had been told that the West Germans were poor and the East Germans lived much better. She lived in squalor in a miserable hovel with a poor diet. When her cousin showed her the supermarkets, the restaurants, the stores... driving her around in his Mercedes, she had a nervous breakdown. Everything she had been told was a lie.

History is filled with stories of East Germans trying to escape to the west. Hundreds died in the attempt.

There was a great old gal that ran our Officer's Club in Babenhausen. She and her family had run from the Russians and thanked God the Americans were there to save them in the final days of the war. Most West Germans in the 1970's when I was stationed there, remembered running from the Russians, or their parents had run. They loved Americans.

Things have changed a lot since the reunification though. The memory of the Russians raping, looting and killing has faded.

To say that west was responsible for the WALL is the worst lie and propaganda I have heard since the Holocaust deniers. Horrible.

Stalin's manmade famine in the Ukraine. Figures vary - R.Conquest in Harvest
of Sorrows, if I recall, said about 13 million starved to death. To help the dying
was to die yourself - the dying were just 'Kulaks', the rich peasants, or those
who defied or refused to cooperate with Bolshevism.

Can you prove it? I argue that German women were raped and killed by American soldiers. What is written in the book "Eisenhower's death camps". Where photo facts are shown.

Are these photographs from the USA or Australia? Could it be Poland, Romania, Albania or Bulgaria? What year were these photos taken?
If you look at the physique of the people shown in the photo, it is obvious that they are not starving. Some of the photos show people laughing.
In these photographs taken in the United States in the early 30s, people look hungrier. Is not it?

I can give you my sworn testimony of what West Germans told me in the ten years I was stationed there in the 1970's and 1980's. They all had stories from their own experience or the experience of their friends or parents.

While I waited for housing on my first tour (1978-81) I lived for a few months in a Gasthaus in Babenhausen. The owner and I became fast friends. He told me stories of his relatives running like crazy from the Russians. Remember, the Germans had devastated Russia and they were out for revenge. He told me of one family he knew where the mother was nailed to a barn and Russian after Russian raped her.

I knew many Germans who told me about their desperate run towards the Americans as the Russians, out for blood to pay the Germans back for what they had wrought in Russia, raped and murdered mercilessly. The old gal that ran our Officer's Club was one such person. Tears welled up in her eyes as she spoke about the first American she ran into as she desperately moved west. She knew she was safe.

West Germany still had all sorts of "DP's" in the 1970's. These "Displaced Persons" were all folks that had run away from the Russians into the safe arms of the Americans. Many of our ancillary Kasernes were run by these DP's. Many had no families left after the war and came to work for American Forces. I got to know many of them that manned and secured our ammo holding area down the road from Babenhausen. They all thanked God that the Americans were there to save them from the Russians

We were required to take our troops to the East-West German border from time to time, to show our new guys the areas we would operate in if the war ever started. We would camp out in the woods during these visits. Local Germans would come up and talk with us at night, bringing local foods and great conversation. They all had stories of family running from the Russians in last days of the war. There was real fear driving them.

I remember one night, a guy came up from the small nearby town. He was on a hunting trip from Munich where he owned one of the major TV stations. He owned large tracts of land in the area. He insisted that I allow him to take my guys (I guess I had about 15 Soldiers with me) to the local gasthaus so he could buy us dinner. He was so insistent that I finally gave in. We had a great time. He kept grabbing my Senior NCO (E-7) and rubbing his bald head, laughing and calling out KOYAK! (Kojak was in rerun in Germany at the time.)

I have so many good memories and stories from those days. Good stuff. Thanks for dragging those pleasant memories back... feels good.
