Ill advised yes, but legal, also yes. Of course he knew the neighborhood since most of his family lived in Kenosha and he worked there and drove that street everyday so not unknown. Carrying a rifle is not brandishing and his use of it in self defense was also not brandishing. You do prove you did not watch the trial so only have misinformation to go by.

 

I certainly do not hate your darling Kyle. In fact I have stated from early on that I do not believe he should have been charged with intentional murder or be given a long prison sentence. The evidence clearly showed that he killed and maimed those people out of fear for his own life. In my opinion, the prosecutors over charged the youngster. However I do believe that he and his friends were responsible for escalating the situation into a deadly event by roaming around the area brandishing weapons they did not know how to handle. The kid is lucky he did not get killed or kill innocent bystanders and very lucky he skated on the case. He is definitely no hero. Just a dumb, misguided kid who with the help and encouragement of some idiot friends, injected himself and his “kool looking” weapon into a situation he was not trained, nor emotionally mature enough to handle and he ended up killing and maiming people unnecessarily.

The riot you are referring to was not a “left wing riot” but rather another racially motivated riot which was provoked by a video posted by eye witnesses who taped a policeman unloading his pistol into a man’s back. Same with the Floyd video which was uploaded by citizen witnesses of a man being choked to death by a policeman. In recent years police personnel had broken into a woman’s house during a two bit drug raid and murdered an unarmed woman in her own home and found no drugs. Another policewoman broke into a black woman’s apartment and killed her a few years ago. I could go on and on about similar incidents that took place over the past few years.

These are not right vs left issues but rather a reaction by certain people who feel that police agencies are unfairly targeting members of their race, killing them and getting away with it. In a world where only a short time ago lynchings, railroading, and horrible examples of unequal justice under the law were commonplace and and acceptable I can understand why many people are angry and feel threatened. They feel that their people are still victims of systemic racism.

Not being a Black American, I have never experienced this type of treatment but being a student of North American history over the past 400 years and reading and having lived here in the US for the past 67 years and reading about current events during my lifetime I tend to agree that many of these people have a valid reason to feel threatened and angry. This is not a left vs right issue but rather a right vs wrong issue.

Carrying a rifle or brandishing is petty semantics. Rittenhouse went in there and found trouble, that's his own fault. How the law and juries play out is anyone's guess.

Now Kyle says he had no idea who the people were or that the sign has been adopted by white supremacists, and he it pretty upset with the lawyer (who he fired for that reason), but it seems he is still allowing people to play him for political gain again.

He said he truly regretted going to Kenosha that night and killing those people, but it seems that he might not have been totally honest when he said that. Obviously he enjoys the hero status his handlers provided him with.

Instead of being out playing football, baseball and hockey or boxing like any young red blooded American kid should be doing in his teens, this kid attended some on line high school and hung out with a bunch of sissies who liked to play army and dress up like soldiers through their teens and into adulthood. I know a bunch of people I grew up with that ended up being right wing gun nuts and moving to Idaho and other remote places, married dumb broads who insisted on home schooling and joining crazy white nationalist churches and social groups. In every case, these were the same kids who were afraid of a hardball and quit baseball by the time they were 9 years old because they got hit in the face by a bad hop grounder. The wouldn’t play football because they were afraid to get knocked on their ass and sure wouldn’t get into the ring and go heads up with another kid. Real American kids compete in fair games and learn the concepts of teamwork, fair play, sportsmanship and good old American competition. Kids with no parental direction are tools of authoritarian ideologies. Hopefully this kid gets a clue and does not end up hanging out with right wing losers like the Proud sissies or the Oathbreakers. It’s a damn shame nobody taught this kid how to field a ground ball or make a clean tackle or defend himself with his hands when he was a kid. All of the successful people I know grew up learning how to compete in the sandlots and the streets, high school fields and have used the skills to compete in life here in America.
