How much do the vaccinated cost when they are hospitalized. You seem to be calling for medical rationing. So progressive of you. Do you see yourself as sitting on the death panels for long?
No its not. Not a all. If there was a cheap, freely available, one off pill, potion or needle etc that you could give to the overweight or morbidly obese which magically caused them to loose weight and dramatically reduced their chances of ever suffering from diabetes, heart disease, cancer and all the other comorbidities associated with being overweight then yes you'd have a point. It would be the same. But there isn't. The treatment of the medical conditions linked to obesity involves a whole range of potential surgeries, drug regimes and counseling programs etc. Its, expensive, time consuming and takes a great deal of effort on the part of the patient to treat obesity. i.e the exact opposite of the case with COVID. Two free shots ( or next to free anyway) and your done. It's easy simple and (compared to the disease itself) safe. Now people who choose not to get the vaccination have that right but there's no reason they should get a free ride on the shoulders of the people who do get the vaccine. And when the unvaccinated end up in hospital with COVID we all have to pay for it via taxes, higher health insurance premiums and or both. So I'm all in favor of making these freeloaders put their money where their mouths are by making them pay a higher health care premium (amortizing the total cost of hospital care for the unvaccinated across that % of the population that insists on being unvaccinated.)
~ That already is the case. Health risk goes up with age & preexisting conditions - hence higher premiums .
That's true (at least as far as COID can now be classified as a preexisting condition). As I noted the 'fix' for a potentially lengthy and expensive stay in hospital due to COVID is quick easy and where I live free. So I suspect insurance companies will be doing (and certainly should be doing) actuarial studies on COVID related health care costs and then upping premiums for the unvaccinated. Whether counties government funded health care schemes do the same is another question. But logically they probably should as well. And technically I would argue the principal should apply to all vaccine preventable illnesses, not just COVID.
So? The U.S pays the medical bills for the uninsured, the welfare recipients and, ILLEGALS, what's the difference between paying for covid as opposed to any other illness? People who are obese, who have many health problems because of it, get medical care, obesity is something that can be prevented. If the U.S government can pay the medical bills of millions of illegal aliens, they sure as hell can pay "mine". I have very good medical insurance, I've been paying premiums for years, without having to use it, if by chance I do end up in the hospital because of covid, they damn well better pay, or get sued.
And where does that money come from but YOU the taxpayer Public health is everyone’s business because it impacts every taxpayer And apparently it is a furphy that illegal aliens get free health care
Australian term for a lie or a falsehood more accurately from the original usage in WW1 it means an unfounded rumour https://www.kff.org/racial-equity-and-health-policy/fact-sheet/health-coverage-of-immigrants/ the stupidest part of this GOP funded rumour is that it actually would attract more illegal immigrants, if the truth were spread more widely, that being an illegal immigrant in America can lead to a lifetime of medical debt then that just might do more than a border wall
What is required of an immigrant to be considered for citizenship in your country? I don't recall if you are one of our resident Aussies or a Brit. Note the word 'can'. It's not an absolute, and if they can keep themselves out of the way of ICE, they can skip on any debt as easily as an illegal can get in this country. The US had a substantial drop in illegal immigration during the recession... no money to be had, why bother coming here. Same applies to all the bennies that taxpayers pay towards. Why should someone that comes here illegally, be eligible for healthcare on the taxpayer's dime? Using an assumptive for something that doesn't necessarily happen, one can paint just about anything negative, and if I had a whim, I could do it also. I've yet to see you post anything positive about the US. Perhaps it's easier to criticize something you don't actually participate in.
You do not have to show identification at a hospital? I am merely going off what was in the link rather than relying on rumours and Faux news talking points
I don't rely on rumors or Fox News, or CNN, or ABC/NBC/CBS. I would appreciate it if you would drop the attempt at belittling something and actually discuss the subject, yes? If a person shows up at the ER with a critical event, do you think they are turned away? Nope. Not citizens, not illegal immigrants. Then you pick up the statistically insignificant tab of the other 1%. You can show us all up as the pathetically petty people we are. Everybody happy!
I never wondered why medical Care was so expensive you're picking up the tab for the people who can't or won't pay.
Its only 1% of covid infected people. A true nothingburger. You can handle it as your annual charitable donation.
Here’s what’s covered by the only direct primary care outfit I have knowledge of. It’s also $50/month for early middle age members. It’s a bit disturbing those who claim to be healthcare professionals know so little about their own industry.
