Fascism has everything to do with the size of the footprint of government in the lives of the people:
    fascism
    făsh′ĭz″əm
    noun

    1. A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, a capitalist economy subject to stringent governmental controls, violent suppression of the opposition, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.
    2. A political philosophy or movement based on or advocating such a system of government.
    3. Oppressive, dictatorial control.
The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, 5th Edition.

    Historic examples of European Fascists:
Mussolini was a fascist, Stalin was a fascist, Hitler was a fascist.

In our hemisphere, and more recently, Fidel Castro was a fascist and Hugo Chavez was a fascist. Remember when Chavez said in amazement to Obama, "You are to the left of me!"

It takes a big intrusive government to impose fascist control over the population. You don't think Obama could have spied on millions of Americans and unleashed the IRS and FBI against US citizens without a massive government ,,, do you?

Dictatorial power over the population begins with controlling the means of production in the economy and grows into every aspect of peoples' lives. As in Benito's case, the fascist apple didn't fall far from the socialist tree.

I'm too stupid to check all those boxes before using the term. For me fascism is a style of governance that resembles Italy from the 1920s to 1940s. To my friends everything; to my enemies the law. The government doesn't serve the people but its own interest and is very aggressive in doing so. But not yet aggressive enough to build concentration camps and kill millions. When this happens I use Nazi Germany for comparison.

Mussolini modelled his 'fascism' on the Roman empire (which his ultimate goal was to rebuild). The Roman empire was, among other things, run on a model with govt and corporations (which first came about in the Roman empire) sharing power. Govt gave corporations the authority to do whatever they wanted in order to provide the govt with the resources and money it needed to govern. How rich they got in the process was totally up to them. The result was large portions of the Roman citizenry being debt-slaved to the corporations and the bulk of Roman affairs being handled by the corporations. Eventually they became such an influencial entity in Roman politics and policy making that Rome was essentially their own profit-making device. This relationship is one of the primary causes of the eventual bankruptcy and fall of the Western Roman Empire and the resulting european dark ages.

And this is the system currently in place in all 'democratic' countries.

Projection is a trait of fascism. The merging of social media with Democrat politicians has made it child's play for Democrats to project who they are on Republicans.
They aren't even bashful about it. In oversight meetings meant to rein in the abuses by social media, Democrats were hammering them for not doing a better job of silencing Republicans.

The Democrat Party, the party of slavery, the KKK, Jim Crow, and segregation has managed to project their sordid past on Republicans. They have managed to sell their tripe by claiming that Nixon, the author of the EPA, OSHA, and the Clean Air Act was a conservative who had some southern strategy to steal the Democrat Party legacy from them.
Fact is that Nixon was set loose by Republicans because he was a progressive and, due to that reality, had no support system in his own party.

Projection has worked well for Democrats. They get to display their KKK Exalted Cleagle in the Rotunda of the Capitol. The Senate office building is named after Democrat racist Richard Russell. They boast a memorial to White Supremacist Stephen Douglas in Chicago ,,,, all while claiming the racists migrated to the Republican Party.

Aside from being habitual liars, Fascists are said to be violent nationalists. How does the party that got us into every war in the 20th century stack up against that measure of fascism? WWI, WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War. These same people will tell us that Trump was a fascist dictator because the way he holds his chin resembles a Mussolini expression. This projection, despite Trump being the first President in decades who didn't lead us into a major armed conflict.

Rather, it's whatever you oppose is fascist. Rather, whatever is fascist I consider fascist.

Dude, I'm a true centrist. I love some things about capitalism and hate some things about capitalism. I love some things about libertarianism and hate some things about libertarianism.

Right winged and left winged is only an indicator of how much one loves or not loves capitalism.

Yes, it was. In Italy under Mussolini and now in the US with the Trump campaign investigation, the two Trump impeachments and this current sham of an investigation of the Jan. 6 incidents.
Fascism occurred in the US during the summer of 2020 riots over the Floyd killings...Plus the Floyd riots were super spreaders.

Impeachment doesn't reverse elections. Please read the Constitution and learn how impeachments work. They don't reverse elections.

You can see how Trump convinced supporters that the Const. is invalid.

No, you're not right...There are degrees of loving and hating capitalism. For example, Bill Maher absolutely hates capitalism (so do progressives). For example, Bill Clinton loves some aspects of capitalism and is disgruntled with other aspects of capitalism but on the whole Bill is more not enamored with capitalism. Perhaps Bill is more like you?

For example, far-right wingers absolutely love free market capitalism even if it hurts American workers...Club for growth comes to mind...The John Birch Society comes to mind. Neocons come to mind.

It's all about degrees of loving or not loving capitalism. You get it now?

What nonsense that fascism has anything to do with the love or hatred of homosexuality, for example. BTW, what would you call the inherent hatred for the unvaccinated by the current authoritarian (one foot in fascism) president and his administration?? Hum?
